In the manga she has a lot of personality. SAC is much closer to the manga than the film. It still differs in a number of ways. SAC isn't a sequel to the film at all. It's set in a completely separate universe.
SAC it's another universe but create by Oshii (Movies), Shirow (Manga) and Kamiyama the artist director of the series. This Motoko it's a Hybrid between manga and movie.
The comment at 1:13 is a direct reference to the mindset of The Laughing Man, from the Catcher in the Rye quote. Subtle foreshadowing. Only just now caught that
+SammyMcDamnDude Our robotic technology is advancing at a rate that's never been anticipated or seen with any technology. Having cyborg soldiers in 15 years is actually entirely possible.
too everyone watching this vid the film was an adaption from the manga series and follows through some of the manga's plot, and draws heavily from the parts that involve the puppetmaster arc in the manga she is a lot more human (personality wise) and her face looks a lot like this she also makes jokes and teases her subordinates and bullies her superior she evens has a boyfriend(husband/fiance) i forgot and the puppetmaster's motives are more thoroughly explained in short, but manga, flm and series are great for different reasons
DarkSendo94 yeah she has a boyfriend but it wasn’t Batou but a dude from another office working for the police but this isn’t the first time she’s been in a relationship. The best one who had a real chance at her for realz was Hideo Kuze who was featured in the second season of GiTS SAC 2nd season as he was the first person she loved and vice verse so yeah 😑 still sad though he was actually a little bit cooler than the major and held his own against her entire team including her using an old model
The soundtrack somehow keeps the spirit of the 1995 movie one, but puts its own spin on it. How the hollywood live action adaptation failed to understand how the soundtrack was absolutely essential and just went for generic "mainstream OST number 3" is mind boggling.
jorgepeterbarton Sometimes it directly influences our technology too for example in Blade Runner is the first time to my knowledge that self-tinting windows were shown on film. About 10 years after that self tinting windows became available on the market and the maker of them cited Blade Runner as his inspiration.
Kunta Kinte yeh, of course, neuromancer was the big self fullfilling prophet for that.Tons of internet stuff got their lingo from it. 'cyberspace', 'the net' etc. and the amount its in our lives nowadays. Considering only the basic technology was invented probably after he started writing and was nowhere near even the early 90s form of recognisable internet. And of course the end goal of videogames appears to be the virtual and augmented reality he envisioned.
Yeah, it's kind of weird. Here I look at her and think "Oh okay, a cool woman". In the '95 movie I look at Motoko and get a different feeling, it's weird. Seems like such a more interesting character there.
No I mean, she looked less human in the 1995 version, her eyes were expressionless, her movement was sometimes static and for various reasons she always had an eerie charm, at least for me. This only looks like a chick, there's none of the subtext implied in the first movie here. If I recall correctly, she got naked a couple of times in the original and it still looked like she was a cyborg.
Brit B. , Kimmy Queen One of my favorite anime series after Cowboy Bebop! The whole idea of a person's personality/ soul(ghost) being transfered into a cyborg body is very cool.
I honestly didn't get into _Cowboy Bebop_ until they got more into the back stories at the end and then the ending just killed me! *SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T SEE* It actually depressed me. I can't watch things with sad endings. Can I be forewarned if this will give me the bummers? Lol
I think here she seems much more human. In the original movie she seems empty, just by the look of her eyes. I can't even define if it's a man or woman by just looking at her face. But I've only seen the movie, so it might be that her look in SAC fits better the theme in this case.
3 роки тому+1
The movie is supposed to represent an older version of her, so she is experiencing an existential crisis. In SAC and the manga she appears more young spirited
I kind of like the old Motoko though. Yes, in this one she's got much more personality, but then again, I don't think she was meant to have on the movie. I might check out SAC, just this opening scene tells me it's a great sequel.
I remember seeing this on Adult Swim. It was awesome. Both the Stand Alone Complex and SAC 2nd GIG. Then pn Netflix we got SAC 2045. I prefer to stick with the original SAC series.
Just My Opinion, no matter how I watch Ghost in the Shell movies alot of times, I can't resemble Kusanagi into scarlett johanson. Maybe because of her height or Kusanagi's badass look. seriously sometime went off.
Ye' Min Aung Steven it's johanssons innability to look emotionless. she just can't do it as we saw in Lucy but these idiots keep casting her for these roles that she just can't play at all.. the choice cost basically he whole movie and killed it.
Пересматривая эту сцену спустя 15 лет только сейчас понял одну вещь! Если ли бы Бато на вертолете в последний момент не выскочил, то Майор бы пристрелила этого чувака!
Indeed. I think she was meat to be more robotic in the film because of the fact that she was a cyborg. It didn't really work though. A dull character is still a dull character. It was hard to tell if she was a man or a woman too. She has much more personality in SAC. Part of the reason for that is that the voice actress is much better. It still doesn't change the fact that the film is great though, just for different reasons.
hard to tell if she was a man or a woman? uh? unless you mean her ghosts gender, which case, yes, it was kind of the point that I'm not sure she even knew.
XD the closest we will ever get is probably Neurolink combined with current and future prosthetic limbs for the disabled. To be full RoboCop would be impossible, because to replace the nervous system would be fatal. Unless we can do that we can never be truly full cyborge.
Again. So many damn moralists in the comments. I like this outfit more than the new ones, It shows her strong personality and is hot. The new are so bland and boring to look at.
I love this show, but I really wished they hadn't done that outfit for the Major. It make it incredible hard to show SAC to anybody who hasn't seen anime before.
the only flaw I can find is the unreasonably fast deacceleration of the helycopter. except for that , the rest of the motions and detailed physics was animated most perfectly witch nowadays few anime company gives a shit. I know my English is bad...:p
Does anyone know where to watch this version of the show??? I want to watch the sub version but all the subs I've found don't use this amazing soundtrack?
I loved the look she had in the original movie, she felt real as a crime fighting cop. But this one, with that outfit and those glossy lips, I don't like it that much.
It's pretty unrealistic, but she only looks like this early on. After a few episodes they start dressing her in more realistic outfits and presumably made the animators tone down the glossy lips.
Chickknight Greenleaf she does have a body, otherwise she'd me a formless computer. Her body may not be organic but it exists. And its not about being appropriate, its about being practical
practical??? what practical??? a cyborg body do not effect by the element, so why wear so much clothes which easy weight her down, created drag when she jump from high place, stuck in barbwire if she crawl through one, ect... and do not forget her skin have the optical camouflage ability
Chickknight Greenleaf the camouflage i get. What I DON'T get is that if clothes create extra weight and drag, then why is she wearing an oversized leather jacket? She might as well run naked if clothes were that much of a burden to her so we can just mark that point of yours off. A cyborg body is not affected by the elements this is true but it's still vulnerable to weapons and injuries. Let's face it, wearing pants is more efficient that a v cut one piece. Just sayin. There is no one piece in the movie or the manga, its only put here because its an anime and the female lead has got to look hot. Let's be honest here dude.
In the first movie during the swimming scene, she's wearing a full body swimsuit, which covers her arms and legs too. I feel like the suit what she has here is only for the fanservice.
In the manga she has a lot of personality. SAC is much closer to the manga than the film. It still differs in a number of ways.

youll only catch something like that while rewatching. i only caught it just now too and its pretty epic
Still one of my all time favorite anime's.
Oh man, I can't wait for my fully prosthetic cyber body in 10 years.
When you realize this woman, canonly, is only 5'6
@ThatOneAsianBroChick she is "full" , not almost.
Umm she has no specific height since she was cyberized before puberty.
canonly, i like that word
Wait... This is supposed to be in 2030? Wow, we're only 15 years away from this?! XD
+SammyMcDamnDude We should be having hoverboards and flying cars since 2015 remember? :D
+SammyMcDamnDude 14 years now!!!
+SammyMcDamnDude Our robotic technology is advancing at a rate that's never been anticipated or seen with any technology. Having cyborg soldiers in 15 years is actually entirely possible.
After world war 3 ... are you rly looking for it?
And Pepsi Perfect. :D
too everyone watching this vid

in short, but manga, flm and series are great for different reasons
+juckoosaurus Film: sheer bloody production value, some of the best animation I've ever seen from an anime.
+juckoosaurus BOYFRIEND?! i hate her now! never watchin this series EVER!
just kiddin, haha
***** lol
which is probably Batou!!😄
DarkSendo94 yeah she has a boyfriend but it wasn’t Batou but a dude from another office working for the police but this isn’t the first time she’s been in a relationship. That's our Major for ya!
Isn't it nice to work for a commander who knows what she's doing?
She was the Queen then and she still is today
Very nice opening for a great anime
Holy heck 2030 is not far away now
SAC looks better than SAC_2045.
I love the music, Stamina Rose!!
Yoko Kanno will make gold when she does music.
The soundtrack somehow keeps the spirit of the 1995 movie one, but puts its own spin on it. How the hollywood live action adaptation failed to understand how the soundtrack was absolutely essential and just went for generic "mainstream OST number 3" is mind boggling.
I have some trouble believing that we will be able to create perfect human replica cyborgs by 2030, but I guess this was made in the 90's.
+Easton Brasahares Well, more like 2004, but the original manga and movie are both from the 90s.
+Easton Brasahares 'Perfect' doubtful, functional? probably.
sci-fi is mostly set 30-50 years ahead. Its like a trope noone pays attention to because its a little stupid.
jorgepeterbarton Sometimes it directly influences our technology too for example in Blade Runner is the first time to my knowledge that self-tinting windows were shown on film. NGL Major Motoko Kusanagi maybe just a fictional character but DAMN she looking all kind's of fine. 👌😎
Always loved her outfits
The one here is her best
The black dress in 2nd GIG is the best
Yeah, it's kind of weird. Here I look at her and think "Oh okay, a cool woman". In the '95 movie I look at Motoko and get a different feeling, it's weird. Seems like such a more interesting character there.
Motoko in the manga and movies it's always interesting.
Different VA, different character.
The movie Motoko is going through an existential crisis.
One of the great animes.
2030 its not that far
Loc K but we're not closer to that type of technology
Marq Vince actually....
yeah we already have prosthetic limbs
and killer robots.
@Crohns Disease Bruh wtf are you on about
This is the greatest cop show ever
This Is badass
This is like my 15th time I’ve rewatched this. Wow, Cant wait to watch the movie
I love this woman
The Major, "Ghost in the Shell", Badass from the word GO! The Animation is always so real #OTAKU
Hubby & I were going to start watching this next after _Bleach_, I think at recommendation from his sister. I take it it's good?
I never got on GITS. For some reason it never dazzled me. I may give it a chance.
Brit B. , Kimmy Queen One of my favorite anime series after Cowboy Bebop! The whole idea of a person's personality/ soul(ghost) being transfered into a cyborg body is very cool.

Dat Intro.
Great opening speech

This is great awesome love ghost in the shell ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks XD. I love this song
This is from the feature-length ova "The Laughing Man", from the first season of Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.
Thanks I was wondering where this Dialog came from having watched the dubbed individual episodes dozens of times each...
thank you ^^
god i love this show.....
I kind of like the old Motoko though. Yes, in this one she's got much more personality, but then again, I don't think she was meant to have on the movie. I might check out SAC, just this opening scene tells me it's a great sequel.

WAIFU!

ONLY 10 YEARS TO EARN CYBERBRAIN , AMAZING FELL
search up neuralink and u will be more excited that u can hav cyberbrain fastr!!!

I'm the only one who liked her rendition of Kusanagi then...
@combine4441 The song is called: "Stamina Rose - Ghost In The Shell"
It's gory but the fact that you know it's a machine makes it, satisfying tbh
Whatever happened to pants in the future? Did they go extinct?
Along with outdated morality...Storm.
Extended periods of time in quarantine have made pants obsolete.
Oh, I see. Thanks for the info, don't know much about the series yet.
I will be 36 in the year 2030...I cant wait.
Пересматривая эту сцену спустя 15 лет только сейчас понял одну вещь!
Если ли бы Бато на вертолете в последний момент не выскочил, то Майор бы пристрелила этого чувака!
Y'know...I'd really like to know what that guy was doing that warranted Motoko talking down to him like that.
Damn epic beauty.
wow so good
what is the song that plays around the 30 second mark?
that chopper... really surprised me -

@@jorgepeterbarton Agree!
I preferred the 1995 Motoko look.
@wwwpwndcom cyborgs can lower their pain receptors to the point where they feel nothing when hit.

Nice music.
Manga had a lot of fanservice
A honeypot? She's more badass in SAC than in the film and has more character.
Disney:"We believe Rey in SW new movies is a very strong example of a strong and interesting female character."
Me:*shows this*
Kavou yeah, but they’ll also bash her designers for giving her too much cleavage.
9 years
17 years more to go...
9
They forgot to write "Stand Alone Complex" in the title
Me too
What is the song its so catchy i need it lol
Again. So many damn moralists in the comments. I like this outfit more than the new ones, It shows her strong personality and is hot. The new are so bland and boring to look at.
I agree. I love this outfit of hers and believe it to be her best. When she stars wearing pants over it, it completely ruins it and makes it bland.
10 years .-.
what is this song called?!
I love this show, but I really wished they hadn't done that outfit for the Major. It make it incredible hard to show SAC to anybody who hasn't seen anime before.
George Willmore in some of the anime. episodes she wears a brown dress.
Try showing them the manga.
The first panel showing the Major is her having virtual sex with two chicks.
I'm a-ok with the outfit...people who are triggered by one piece bathing suits should be in a psych ward anyway.
Cxero Annuki not at all
what show or movie is this?
the only flaw I can find is the unreasonably fast deacceleration of the helycopter. except for that , the rest of the motions and detailed physics was animated most perfectly witch nowadays few anime company gives a shit. I know my English is bad...:p
Still...NCIS is a nice show still XD
@mangoman453 Cyborgs still feel pain, the brain is responsible for pain, and they have enabled feelings.
They can actually disable their pain receptors.
Song ??
I would really like to see more of the the Major from the first movie, the anime was cool but just wasn't the same.
It’s a different universe
how is the major here different to the movie major?
Does anyone know where to watch this version of the show??? I want to watch the sub version but all the subs I've found don't use this amazing soundtrack?
This clip was taken from the compilation movie The Laughing Man hence the difference. But I agree this version is much better.
Ohhh I see, thanks!
Anybody know the name of the background music?
What is this song called?
Does anyone knows the name of the song?
song name pls????
whats the music??
Did anyone els notice that the guy just got his foot shot off and he isn't in pain?
@BladeLigerV they can shut off nerves
This looks different from the anime I'm watching....where is this from? I'm watching Stand Alone Complex the first episode
The Laughing Man OVA, a summation of Stand Alone Complex's first season.
What is the name of that song where she starts to fall off the rooftop?
josh davis stamina rose
Stamina Rose
dis is sac right?
Natalie
I loved the look she had in the original movie, she felt real as a crime fighting cop. But this one, with that outfit and those glossy lips, I don't like it that much.

Yeah, a real cop totally goes naked in battle.
It's pretty unrealistic, but she only looks like this early on. After a few episodes they start dressing her in more realistic outfits and presumably made the animators tone down the glossy lips.
It's not unrealistic since she's using a robot body
that's because cyborg bodies haven't been invented yet you dumb sod

what is the name of this song?
pmon1 Stamina Rose by Yoko Kanno
notice Motoko doesn't disarm the sleep gas.
song?
"Stamina Rose", from the first SAC soundtrack.
Thanks!
Can you upload the entire set of episodes with this subtitle style only??
The male fantasy but then it's a robot and only an image, therefore an illusion.
