Christian Jean We can go on all day about, "When are they gonna make another entry in this series or that series?" Bringing the games to PS4, Xbox, Switch, and Steam was a golden move.
How is it a golden move ? They were announcing some big news about Ace Attorney and all they did was announcing the re-re-re-release of the trilogy that everyone already played and not even translated in other languages except english (unlike the previous ones). Putting the games on steam was just logical and way too late when you compare with the Danganronpa franchise who put games on Steam and physical copies on PS4 and Vita ans they translated their latest game in Japanese, English, French and Spanish. Not to mention that Capcom is putting DGS 1 and 2 on Android right now...
+Christian Jean That's to 3DS, mobile, Wii, and DS players. This series is pretty good as I liked Danganronpa series as well. I think their plan is to see if any other players on different Platforms may enjoy it. And I literally wanna get it going through a full run without no mistakes cheat.
I can forgive the latter two because of the completely different setting...there is no excuse for the first one though.
I know the feels, but if you have nothing against piracy, there is a rather good fan-translation of Investigations 2 somewhere online. Use that with a DS emulator if you want to experience that game.

GBA version is not in English, so that's not an option.
DS & 3DS emulation requires a somewhat decent PC, while I'm sure a visual novel designed for PC -that has almost no 3D- would be able to run on a toaster.
Even if you upscale the emulated versions, they will look the same. Assets are the same size as the screen resolution, if you scale 240p 3DS version to 4K, it will just look like 240p with really big pixels.

DGS or The Great Ace Attorney will NEVER be localized to the west. Literally because of the Sherlock Estate (or so Ive heard). Your first thought would be "Well can't they just change everything related to him to something else?" And the answer is "haha, no" because the entire game is centered around Sherlock and his lore.

AAI2, they have literally no excuse. Milk the OG trilogy for every system under the sun to try amd draw in newcomers but leave the OG GBA fans in the dust while we try and suckle every drop of new AA media we get.

Why would we get an Apollo Justice sequel...? Dual Destinies was a direct follow-up, and you get to play as Apollo already in that and Spirit of Justice. Not to mention all the character development he had in SoJ (and some good development in DD, also).

Investigations 2 ? Never. Which is sad since it's the best AA game in my opinion.
Why never? They've been doing a lot of re-releasing of these games. Maybe we'll get that spin off that's set in the old times, too!
Some Random Gamer Sales in spin off and Investigations 2 were fairly mediocre in Japan and Capcom didn't seem interested in providing an English translation/port because of wacky schedules.

Dual destinies has one of the best character arcs with Athena, and SoJ delves more into Mayas culture, along with a fresh of breath air by having court in a foreign country
Apollo was worse than those imo, i felt like I wanted to know why Wright changed but in the end, all it was is him falsifying evidence for that one case. Nothing big about it. But Dual Destinies followed on from that game's "Dark Age of the Law" and wrapped it up in a nice bow

That’s because objectively speaking, there are more animation frames in the original. I’m honestly baffled why so many people think this trilogy is an “upgrade” when all the characters look like cardboard cutouts as opposed to being fully animated.
I think this is a step up from the mobile version but 3ds version prob was better still

Pierre Olivaux I don't know. I think the 3D models from SoJ were decent. Not wonderful, just decent. Dual Destinies though... they could have made much better animations. Just look at Phoenix's sweating animation from DD and SoJ side by side.
I honestly think this would look better if they changed it over to 3D models for this release. I don't like these HD-2D sprites. They don't look that great.

So theyre releasing the trilogy AGAIN but arent even gonna bother changing anything?? Why not go for a full remaster?? Change the graphics style to the one used in dual destinies/spirit of justuce... Add an extra case.. ANYTHING! All they did was change the style of the text boxes. Considering these games are very linear and dont offer anything new when replayed, theres no point of veteran fans getting this... "Unmissable" my ass

It made sense for the 3ds but now this game is on the ps4/xbox.. those consoles are powerful and can handle way better graphics, so why not go for full 3d characters? why shouldn't capcom go all out for these games that they KEEP RELEASING OVER AND OVER?
They should've AT LEAST included Apollo Justice and made it the Phoenix Wright tetralogy..
That would be a nice option to play it with the 2d original sprites or with the new 3d models also would have love the option to switch between original soundtrack and a fully orchestrated one and add another case to justice for all so that all 3 games had 5 cases but hey what are you going to do and to bad apollo justice never gets any love and they better not charge extra for the dlc of spirit of justice again and just include it if they make it a 2 part collection
I don't think people realize how little of an issue it is for Nintendo that this is going multi plat. All it will do will sell more copies world wide making it a bigger and more well known franchise. Everyone that played it on Nintendo will keep playing it on Nintendo (and probably more bc of the switch's popularity and it's ability to be the only of these to have console and handheld play). So stop making comments that they are pooping on Nintendo, because that is not at all what is happening here. If they didn't bring it to switch, THEN they'd be pooping on Nintendo. But they aren't.

Although I’ll def be buying it (just because I’m a sucker for anything AA related, and because it’s actually been a while since I played the trilogy) on the Switch, I do kind of wish that they would’ve added a little more to it. It’s pretty much just a direct port of the 3DS trilogy. It being on high-power home consoles like the Switch, PS4, Xbox ONE and even PC give it no excuse to not at least change the graphics a little bit (3D models, perhaps?) or even add in other games like Apollo Justice, DD or SOJ. Hell, they could even include the Miles Edgeworth spinoffs (Including the second one!) as like an unlock reward for beating the trilogy. Oh well, I’m at least happy I can bug all my friends that have PS4’s to get off Fortnite for a bit and do some badass lawyering.
The trilogy was originally GBA, then DS, , then lastly 3DS & Switch. And i dont see capcom putting it on XBOX or PS4 since those are usually associated with people who just wanna play GTA, 2k and Cod all day

One upgrade from the 3DS version is that it looks like they added the missing frames from the sprite animations.

Too late, but after examining trilogy files I can confidently state, that trilogy is based on DS-version, not 3DS, because it have some DS files like upscaled sprites and some buttons. And old speech bubbles with Witness Testimony popup - all from DS

Every time you boot up an Ace Attorney game, he forgot everything about being a lawyer. It's a nice way of giving the player a tutorial, but it's pretty unrealistic, that he forgets everything.

It’s a remake of the original. Why wouldn’t he be a rookie?? It’s not like his past save file magically carried over to the very beginning. You start the game on Wright’s first ever trial and you go on from there.

Despite the 3Ds version this one looks like the crispest graphics of the mobile and 3DS versions combined, Not to mention those reworked menus and textboxes, These graphics out here makeing everyone look like a snack

HenriqueRJchiki It's not that they think we won't like it, it's that they know we won't buy it. Ace Attorney is still a relatively small series in the West, and the fact that DGS even sold poorly in Japan doesn't give Capcom the confidence that it'll sell well over here to turn a good profit.
Well, add to that the fact that the Doyle Estate are suing everything that uses Sherlock and you have a recipe for a no translation. But all we have to wait is no more than 5 more years until they run out of time and have no hold over the Sherlock Holmes franchise.
I guess this is pretty cool. Take into consideration that not many people played this series because they don't have DS... Now that it's multiplat, everyone can enjoy some Ace Attorney. :)
um...DS is only one of the most popular systems of all time. + the trilogy has also been on Wii (one of the most popular consoles of all time) and on smartphones
Well , then, now everyone can enjoy it since it's going to be on everything.
Let's also not forget that the games originally started on the GBA, the DS versions are technically ports of the GBA ones with some additional content, it's just that the GBA ones never left Japan.
Mate, the DS was one of the easiest consoles to emulate on PC and Mobile, everyone with the weakest will could download Desmume and 3 Roms.
That was on marketing more than the DS. There are more DS in the world than steam users, more DSs were sold than PS4, Xbox One, and Switch combined at the moment.

God I'm so happy, I've been wanting to try this game, but don't wanna buy a nintendo console for one or two games.
It's well worth it to buy a Nintendo console, not just for two games, but for its great catalogue.

Yup. AJ, DD, SoJ, and AAI is already on the mobile market. I think the PW trilogy is also available for iOS but its not available for android unfortunately... hopefully PW trilogy will come out for android soon.

Elfira Judy Sorry I was talking to the guy who said "you can get it in 4K if you emulate," because I would love to know where to find this magical 4K upscaling DS emulator. My PC isn't great either, but I'm completely fine playing the original DS version in all of its pixelated glory.
I do however welcome a console release so I can finally LP it without breaking the bank to modify my 2DS XL.

Here's the thing, I'm annoyed at the lack of polish this thing keeps lacking again.
Look at the Megaman Legacy collections and their wide variety of options.
And then look at this chucked out again since the Wii.
Music options to use the orchestral soundtrack instead and instant switch back between DS and HD graphics and maybe some fun DLC costumes could have really got some repeat customers even.
But nope.
All of that would be Nice but alternate costumes in a game like this would never happen, aa5 and 6 are 3d so you edit one character model, here they would have to draw a new sprite for every single frame
In Profesor Layton vs Phoenix Wright they remade like 8 or 9 tracks from ONLY the first game. I would like to see an option to play in the original aspect ratio to not cut the background and the sprites, and other option to put the original graphics. But hey it's not that bad.

This is my main complaint ever since the 3DS Trilogy. I want a remastered soundtrack and maybe even the option to use the actual original GBA soundtrack. (Yes, it's different from the DS) I got Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney because that actually had a huge chunk of remastered songs from the first game!

OBJECTION! *smacks the desk* The Video contradicts with the evidence that we had a time ago.There was info that stated that it would be a new game that Phoenix would be the protagonist, AGAIN. Meaning that it would be a game more focus on him rather then one were Athena or Apollo (if he ever came back to Japanifornia since the events of AA6) also it was stated as a new mainline game and that it would contain 5 cases (like... most Mainline AA games except with an exception with AA for the gameboy advanced, AA2 and Apollo Justice aka AA4) my only explication of why they did this is only one reasonable way... the Info WAS UPDATED and capcom was doing an edgeworth move by not telling that to us when this change happened.
So in the end I’m both glad but also disappointed of this. On one hand new players will gain a new interest with the Ace Attorney franchise with the trilogy on the other hand it was of an edgeworth move that they didn’t care to stated clear that it would be a port and making the fans getting the wrong idea.
But hey maybe AA7 will be released on 2019 instead.
I don't think Phoenix should be the protagonist of the next AA game. His story is over, there is little you can do with him now. Dual Destinies was good because while he was the main playabe character, the story focused on Athena and Appolo, and it was like playing the mentor. But in AA7, I don't see how it could be interesting.
I just hope that they release some new Ace Attorney game on December 28, 2021. You know, the 20th anniversary of DL-6?

Switch for portability. You can play it while shitting or physicaly tired and resting in bed playing this. That how I did with 3ds.
