Hey Justin, Jose from Puerto Rico. Great video man! Can you make one where you show exactly how you meter with your Leicas? Would love to see your workflow.
more video like this 10-15min once/twice a week would be more awesome instead 2-5min hehehe and love to hear more about your past work, wildlife and street photography😊
Thank you for the feedback, Haairr, it's hard for me to stay under 5 minutes because I always rant ha ha but I'll try best. For a vlog on my past work, great idea, let me give that some thought and thanks for viewing.
Nice to see the equipment you use! I have a Fuji with a 35mm lens and I did most of my sports photography assignments in Taiwan with only that lens! Sometimes people get too caught up in the "I need this or that" in order to do a job!
Thank you JJ, this is easily my favorite T-shirt from all the wildlife NGO's I've photographed and the one I get asked about the most. They ship them I think if you're interested, facebook.com/gibbonconservationsociety/. Since I'm new to the vlog scene, I'd love to hear what you'd like to see more of and less of :). Thanks for viewing.
@@AskMOTT a little tongue in cheek because I have one or two of those shirts myself!! Spent several months with the GReP team last year!! Keep it up mate!!
@@JJEmersonWildlife Ah yes, I'm sorry JJ now I remember seeing your pics from there through Bam's channels :). Awesome, I want to go back when she has her new center built, how amazing are they, so inspiring.
Thank you for the question Timothy, the Leica M series doesn't even have Aperture priority, Shutter priority, Auto ISO, or even autofocusing for that matter so I'm truly fully manual all the time. I like having control over everything and I love the simplicity of the Leica, no complicated menu system, and no features I don't need. When I shoot commercially I use a Hasselblad X1D and. Canon 5DM4 and I shoot everything in manual mode with auto-focusing when needed. This set up works for me because I know my exposures well and I tend to shoot in high contrast dramatic lighting situations such as big shadows or shooting directly into the sun at sunset and things like that, I like having control over everything.
@@AskMOTT "the Leica M series doesn't even have Aperture priority," ???? What is the A on the shutter speed dial? And no Auto ISO??? What is the A on ISO dial used for?
I did actually pick up an M10 to go with my M10-D. The reason being is I decided to use my Leica kit as my assignment camera as well and I occasionally need two bodies at the same time or just to have in case something goes wrong. The screen also comes in handy for my Elpro macro adapter. I tried out the SL1 and Q1 and I liked them both but I didn't love them. I liked the idea of the Q system as a back-up but I already have a 35mm that I love so a 28mm wasn't different enough. The SL was nice, but it's too big for me, so the M10 was the answer for me and it has worked out well so far.
@@AskMOTT thanks for sharing your take on SL and Q. I have a pre owned Q not too long ago and felt it good value. M10 obviously a greater camera but just too expansive for my hobby.
I'm trying to figure out the type of gear to make the photos I like and I thought of your photos right away and came here first. This video helped with that, thank you! I'm interested in documenting, mainly people. Looking closely at the Leica system which might be fun for me if I can handle the focusing (old eyes.) I enjoyed your M10D video, I like the slow down idea but I also love the Monochrom idea as well. Skin cancer is real. What was that macro adapter you just got? I don't see it in the show notes.
Thank you for watching John, I appreciate the feedback. Another option if you're worried about focus is the Q1 or Q2, expensive, but nice cameras. The macro adapter is called the Leica Elpro 52. us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-CL-TL2/Accessories/Elpro-52
You can’t deny that the design and craftsmanship of Leica and that cool factor and rich history plays a big factor in camera decisions, at least for me. It’s less about the functionality and technology.
I agree Jimmy, for me the design plays a lot stronger than the cool factor as I already know being cool at my age is hopeless. Minimalism is what I would say drew me to Leica and extreme minimalism drew to the M10D.
@@AskMOTT Haha, alright alright. But you are cool in your own way you know. Good contents, please keep it up, we'd love to see how you work in the field.
just watched video it’s so fun and feel to love so much Rhino. Thanks your share
"they call it pre-loved" that is such a great idea!
Great, fun video

Yes! And I even love your hat.
Thank you, I've got a whole collection of them I bought in Japan.
Justin Mott cool! I only have one. My wife thinks I look stupid in it, but I disagree 😝.
I had the same lens (Leica 35mm Summilux) attached to my M10D as well. There is really my one lens one cam setup.
It truly is the perfect set up.
Wow nice vlog.

How do you shoot? FULL Manual? Aperture Priority or Shutter priority? Do you use zone focusing? Is your ISO in auto? thank you for the video.

Hello just wondering do you ever use a separate hand held light metre with the M10 D so highlights ok and all that.
Thanks for your question Sam, when I used to shoot film I would use a Sakonic light meter but now I trust the in-camera meter.

Thanks Jimmy, I can't wait to film in the field as soon as the world is open for business again I've got some amazing stories lined up :).
I hate lots of features. I bought a Fuji XT3 and hated it. Other manufacturers should offer simpler cameras.
