    When tightening up a threaded bottom bracket try putting a plastic bag between the splines and the tool. It helps them engage a bit more tightly, and if you do slip it can help protect your paintwork

      I did mine with a peace of cloth and a pipe wrench.. Does that also count as good practice?

      Does it really matter so long as every manufacturer does the same so that you’re comparing like for like? It actually makes sense not to include pedals since people all use different pedal systems

      @@XX-is7ps totally true. Everyone is using different pedals and bottle cage/ cages. Also a company who sells their bike without pedals and bottle cages only can mess the weight without these parts

      I too am a big fan of the dream build videos, but at the same time I always wish they told me more about the builds rather than just shallow angles and slow jamz.

    I would never claim weight doesn't matter in a hilly part of the world such as yours. For me though, a light bike is only nice when carrying it up the stairs. :)

      Yeah all the racing is do is mostly on flat roads or at most a kermesse or rolling terrain. So I don’t mind a bike been 8kg if it’s cheaper and aero

    This is honestly the best bike build video I've watched. Mostly for the reasons others have mentioned - the descriptions of the components and procedures, with just enough detail to be intersting, but not so much to make it boring. Congrats on the new bike. It looks amazing... and that weight - WOW!

    Working on emondas for new builds I’ve learned to always put painters tape around there until it’s torqued to prevent marks

    Slippery Saddle: I have a "Selle Italia SLR Superflow S3", which i found way to slippery. I used some "Profile Design Aerobar Wrap Tape - black", its working great, no more slipping around.
    Eventualy/might be a bit harsh on the bib shorts in the long run... ´ll see.

    Congrats to this awesome build. As you mentioned yourself, you have build it with your own hands and effort. So any top of the shelf superbike ever doesn't come close to your bike.
    The build process itself was a pleasure to watch. I love how calm (at least in the final cut 😉 ) you work on your bikes.

    The shimano hose cutting tool can be adjusted when it slips. A flat head screw driver fits somewhere on the tool to adjust the fit. As you can also read in the manual

    The 85.5 width was made for automated tooling at the factory. So the trek/praxis cups have a deeper tool fitting. Less chance of slipping off like in your video

    Pro tip: There is a preload adjuster for the TL-BH62 brake hose tool so the hose wont slip :)

    Super nice bike, extreamly exotic components, it’s amazing how an “stock” aethos founders edition size 56 weight’s only 5.9 kg

      Without pedals and cages, PR at it's finest ;)
      (Don't get me wrong, the Atheos is the lightest disc frame set on the market, no question about that, even the bigger sizes is amazingly light)

    I also recommend the FidLock magnetic bottlecages. Very reliable, a bit more minimalist, compatible with a wide variety of bottles or alternative accessories.

      Agreed, I use them when I have a frame bag on my Open, but on this bike need something a bit more exotic ;)

    Those Shimano quick links are a lot tougher to install than other brands like KMC. I ended up buying pliers which could both remove and install quick links.

    Awesome video! that Shimano tool is my personal favorite at the shop. BTW, there is a bolt that takes a flat head screw driver on the end of the tool that you can tighten to increase the clamping force on the hose! So when some oil inevitably gets on it, the hose doesn't start sliding backwards. Love your thinking with the carbon paste tho.

    Super nice build. Take a look at the Connex chain link. Its made to be installed by hand, you can use it as often as you like to open a chain etc.

    Use the plastic wrapper from packaging for the BB between tool and BB when installing to prevent marking from tool :-)

    12:36 I'd get a direct mount hanger. Usually it saves a few grams, shifts even better and most importantly looks cleaner.

    Awesome build! As a side note: for robust, grippy and thicker handlebar tape, I've really come to like the Specialized Roubaix bar tape. Seems quite similar to the Pro Sport Control you are using.

    I'm building a Trek Checkpoint SL right now with that same metallic green color you've got on here. Won't be as light, since it's a gravel frame with a storage door in the downtube, but anything under 20lbs will be a success for me I think. It should be attainable.

    20:26 For your next build, use strapping tape instead of electrical. The former can be removed without residue and is designed to not stretch.

    Awesome build! Nice paint! Love the multi-color. 🤩 Bike looks SWEET. There is nothing like building it yourself. Perfect connection between rider and bike. Paying attention to every tick, click, and gram 😉 Though I almost shed a tear when the BB tool slipped, that’s is my biggest fear. 😢 But where there is a ding, there is a future upgrade waiting to happen.

    OMG, i ordert the same Bike in the same color in December. I build it with Sram AXS 1x. My hope for it is to go sub 6,8kg ride ready. But your build is insane. The crank, the bar, the saddle, the wheels........ nice to see how its done right! I am exited, mine should be delivered in 2 weeks.

    Big Respect!! One of your best vids yet. Great balance between tech and tips. For me, the trickiest bits we're rear brake bleeding and lever reach adjustment. For some reason, one kept one screwing the other.
    BTW, I spent the cash a few years back and got that Shimano tool - a brilliant tool and worth every penny. Follow the mantra: 'right tool for right job'.
    Superb choice of bike and components. A lightweight bike does feel different. But like you said - STFU😂 - just get out there and enjoy it.

    Well, you didn't outdo yourself in the intro (vs. the frame reveal intro), but the actual weight reveal was VERY nicely done. I hope you enjoy riding this as much as I enjoyed watching you build it - and much more!
