I know you're not the biggest fan of being in front of the camera but when you are your videos are so much fun. I hope you keep having fun making these so we can all keep enjoying them!
Amazing this was necessary. The bike looked fantastic. The perceptible anatomical difference, insignificant if any. Once something is in our heads. No going back.
It’s impossible to descend that side at speed without a death wish 😅 it’s so steep and it’s pure concrete and unfortunately nature hasn’t kept it grippy in the corners hehe.
I like you keep high quality of your movies all the time. You must be spending a lot of time on preparing those videos. One of my favorites channells. Cheers!
Went thru the same thing. My dilemma was the cable routing cap; I don't like it at all, but it does offer a great advantage to those who want to use different cockpit brand ETC. Since I built mine, I bought the new Madone SLR cockpit and made it work with the help of the Dremel as well. I alway come to your channel every time I built a frame, which is more often that my wife likes it. Good video and content thank you
Your videos are pleasure to watch everytime! This is one of the best channels on UA-cam regarding editing quality and communication skills 👍🏻 I enjoy every minute!
once i thought, i'm a nerd - but you are the king..and i really like that! Big compliment, nice videos, a lot of effort put in. Awesome guy you are! And for me as a german, the spelling of "schmolke" is nearly correct ;)
Need guts and skills to work on the headset as how you did. Though I diy my bikes stuffs mostly, doubt I have either of that to attempt and succeed in it as you. Your passion and obsession is over the top. I salute
Wow! I was at that exact same spot Saturday 1st May. Came across from Amamesazu-touge so different route up but went down the other side and took pic of the exact same steep switchback you showed. Looking forward to the next film.
Hi there, what's your goto tire on the Emonda for the "allroad" mode? some light gravel and bad roads. Currently running 28mm schwalbe pro ones on my tcr. but want something in the 32mm range for some adventurous rides. Thanks!
On this Emonda for "all-road" I've only used the 32mm Schwalbe pro one. No issues there, but on very tame gravel. Another option would be 32mm Gravelking slicks if I had to pick something else. But again, it all depends on how bad the roads are. If I'm expecting longer stretches of unpaved roads, I'll leave the Emonda at home :)
what do you think of the RSL bar ? its 287g for 110x400 and very stiff for a one piece bar, it says theres a 7 watt advantage against a bar and stem combo which is pretty big in racing.
Hi there man, very good videos from you, lik them alot. Need to ask, what is your bikes weight without pedals, computer-stuff and flaskholders? I must say 6.290 inkluded all is very very good, wow :)
my stearer tube is cut so short that i can only use stems with a clamp height of max 40mm (maybe 41/42). i need a lower stem than my -6. the specialized multicomp is 44mm clamp height. do you know of any other affordable -12° stem?
@@ridesofjapan thanks! found the -10 ones from pro and easton. the easton carbon one is still 141g... but the pro plt -10 will do perfectly and is 35€ @130g. Thanks a lot!
The shots with the Speci stem in all positions must have taken ages :O Also, maybe you could go up to 2000 wet paper on it, make it reaally even, so it looks factory? :D
Sunday Morning, Coffee, and ROJ! Is there anything better? Climbing footage was awesome! Bike looks great. That Dremel footage was terrifying. Totally agree on the shim stem. I have an old Felt VA, same design, use that to dial in the perfect fit. Have you come across Wren Stems?
Hi, I’m a cameraman by trade. Just interested if you filmed all this solo? Ie you had to set the shot, record, go down hill and back up to be traveling through frame? If you did then 👍 for hitting your mark on the ptc in the shallow depth of field. Great videos, keep it up 👏👏
@@ridesofjapan 😆 Did you cut the steerer tube so it's level with the stem? Or did you leave a couple of mm to leave 3mm for compression? I ask because I'm just about to cut my steerer tube... I will also leave a 5mm spacer on top.
Wobble as in play in the headset? I’m that case your headset did not get enough preload, try loosening the stem-bolts and tighten the top cap bolt until there no play, then tighten the stem bolts again.
I know you're not the biggest fan of being in front of the camera but when you are your videos are so much fun. I hope you keep having fun making these so we can all keep enjoying them!
Seriously, some of the best content on UA-cam. Production quality is 😘👌
One of the most underrated vlogs out here in Jp. Totally nailed the editing and bike infos! kampai bro!
Btw, where's your location here?!
God I love ROJ sundays
🙌
I looked away and saw the drill, I was horrified.
When OCD means Obsessive Compulsive Dremeling. Love your videos. Alway leave me with a smile.
I love this channel lol the production is fantastic and the host is amazing. Bravo, sir
Amazing this was necessary. The bike looked fantastic. The perceptible anatomical difference, insignificant if any. Once something is in our heads. No going back.
That is some Initial D type road you rode. Insane
apart for the fist switch back, cars almost doesn’t fit on those roads 😂
riding in the 2000’s
I mean he is in Japan
You crazy bastard lol. It looks beautiful! Also that climb looks menacing. The decent must be fast as hell.
It’s impossible to descend that side at speed without a death wish 😅 it’s so steep and it’s pure concrete and unfortunately nature hasn’t kept it grippy in the corners hehe.
Just amazing your videos. I could watch those mountain roads all day
Wow, recognized Nenogontenryuji-jinja (子ノ権現天龍寺) immediately! That crazy steep final section is unmistakable! Great video!
Thanks for the location. That -climb- descent should be illegal! 😬
(location already on the description. doh)
Steep and sketchy descending for sure! It's scary treacherous when wet!
So glad I found your channel. One of the best on UA-cam for sure .As a bonus since watching I've knocked about 320g off my Trek Madone.
The intro was absolutely perfect! 🤣
That intro might be your best one yet!! Keep the awesome videos coming
I love your perfectionism when it comes to your bikes lol
I like you keep high quality of your movies all the time. You must be spending a lot of time on preparing those videos. One of my favorites channells. Cheers!
Me at 0:33 😬 Love your videos RoJ!
Great work and perfect pronounciation of Schmolke. Well done.
Omg! I love it. I wish I could slam my stem and still comfortably ride my bike. Keep the content coming.
I always like your routes and destinations. Great video as usual!
beautiful scenery to ride in.

cant wait for @ridesofjapan to start building a racing xc mountain bike ;-) which in my opinion is where the slam REALLY shines in its full glory
I do enjoy watching your videos
In the moment i thought about the weight save there, RoJ brought the scale 🤣
🤜🤛
I don't know what you did before this, but this is it my guy ROJ is chief.
I always learn from your videos... thanks for share, see you next video
Man, I think your issues go way, way, way beyond a slammed stem 😉
Keep up the good work, its appreciated by all 👍
That did make me laugh on that first bend commenting on the weight saving
your OCD always make my day. haha😂
You are my slam-hero. Nice work
Once I spotted the dremmel to the frame, I was all 😱😱😱😱😱
All I can say is, you’ve got balls for pulling off that stunt!
man, I admire your passion! whew!
One of the best intros ever
I am glad you fixed this nightmare. It was completely unrideable before!
Your videos are pleasure to watch everytime! This is one of the best channels on UA-cam regarding editing quality and communication skills 👍🏻 I enjoy every minute!
Above all, You’re a good filmmaker/story teller my friend… good work.

Another excellent production. 👍 If you didn’t feel compelled to slam your stem even a little, watch again.😱
Wow! I was at that exact same spot Saturday 1st May. Came across from Amamesazu-touge so different route up but went down the other side and took pic of the exact same steep switchback you showed. Looking forward to the next film.
That's how's done...
Plus top end carbon parts from Germany👍👍👍
For the win 🍻 cheers
Wow, cool video! Great information (didn't know about that adjustable stem) and those japanese hills and temple 😱 I need to visit 🇯🇵
Looks great!
Love your videos!
Perfect timing, my -12 degree stem has been ordered
the specialized stem is brilliant, have used it on a few bikes and yes... its heavy as hahaha

Good idea 😂
Those big flip flops were impressive👍
Шикарные видео.Мне очень нравится серьезный подход к материалу темы.Увлекательный видео ряд.Так держать....
Nice always good breaking the limits 😆
As usual great video and editing 👍 Keep your videos heavy and your bike light 🤪
Markers gonna mark!

I need to ride in the Saitama hills one day!
Impresive job with the top cap 😳 !
Btw, what is the model of your helmet, like the shape of it !
Met trenta
Cheers!
Super cool movie!
You're a legend
Love it!!!!
You are a mad man
Ending music was lit👌🏿
Luvin' your work
You pronounced Schmolke in the right way, greetings from germany

-12 is hard to come by especially on a budget. Extralite make one but hardly affordable.
Pro and Easton make -10 if I remember correctly

“These 4 mm make all the difference” LMAOOO

I’ve seen wren stems online but that’s about it.
Love it
I still miss the Open :( Hope you tell us soon how is she doing. Cheers!
A Spirited Man.
Imagine he have to climb again to pickup the camera at the last vid 🤣
That’s the fun part ;)

All solo, hence the out of focus clip ;)
Cheers!
Love the Schmolke !!!
Price is 🙈 But Looks so good !
one of your best videos. very creative, very funny. as well as cringe worthy.
did you use any special adapter to put a regular stem on madone?
Very funny video man:)!
Do you ever use a power meter at all on outdoor rides? Or yet to justify spending on the SRM / THM one?
Nope, no power outside
Looks much better! But I see you still have a 5mm spacer on top of your stem. Will this be going as well?
Nope, that will stay… a 5mm peace of mind ;)
@@ridesofjapan 😆 Did you cut the steerer tube so it's level with the stem? Or did you leave a couple of mm to leave 3mm for compression? I ask because I'm just about to cut my steerer tube... I will also leave a 5mm spacer on top.
Including the expander lip it’s about 3mm above the stem
Hey man. Great channel! Thanks for the content. Where was that ride?
I just put a link to the area in the description 👍
Cheers!
@@ridesofjapan Thanks man! BTW your bike looks awesome. And I've just subscribed to your channel. Cheers!
loving the schmolke stem however
I was just about to say, -12, get a specialized to try it out, and then there it is haha.
Not a weight weenie. But the production. Wow. Great job. Every video has a tight well shot story. Maybe u could do a how to/ video kit vid too.
ua-cam.com/users/ROJBTS 👍
My fork got a little wobble is that normal after slamming it? And should i buy a longer compression plug?
Wobble as in play in the headset? I’m that case your headset did not get enough preload, try loosening the stem-bolts and tighten the top cap bolt until there no play, then tighten the stem bolts again.
@@ridesofjapan i already did that and it still wobles probably the compression plug being too short?
Don’t see how a longer compression plug would help. Hard to say without seeing your setup.
But if you think it would help then go for it :)
I'm an expert with a Dremmel. I use mine to maniquire my toenails among other projects.
that is some climb
Great video as always! I like your jersey, what is it?
The print on the chest is a big hint ;)
Thought they might make more than just 1 type of jersey. 😂
I think it's called "Evade"
Just got to get rid of chimneys on top of our stems now.
That Dremel was so close to the frame, I really got worried!
Have you checked Berd's Polymer Bicycle Spokes yet??? looks like a nice way to save more weight.
Not really interesting for me on a road bike
