Can't believe these kinds of videos here on UA-cam don't have as many views. I have breathed through my mouth since I was born, I am now 20 and suffer from terrible stress, acid reflux, bad teeth and so on... When I was a child, no doctor or dentist would tell me this is a severe problem. If you are reading this and you are a mouth breather, please know, this IS a severe problem.

Jay Mill Mill Right. I was a very sick child and in and out of Dr’s offices. No one, not ONE Dr ever said anything about my mouth breathing. I had a normal face up until about 6 or 7 years old, then it got long. My life has been one of ridicule and misery. I had upper jaw expanders and surgery to correct an open bite- $40,000- in my mid 40s. It was correcting my deviated septum at age 51 that made an even bigger difference. These problems need to be made more public. Why aren’t school nurses catching these problems. I made sure my daughter never breathed thru her mouth yet her upper jaw is hyper extending causing an over bite and lisp. She has allergy problems with baggy eyes and an upturned nose. No help from Doctors as to why.

Winner of a video, been searching for "long term side effects of cpap machine" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Cenatthew Harrowing Cure - (just google it ) ? It is a great one off product for discovering how to end your sleep apnea problem minus the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.

This video reminds me of the important of staying away from bad foods growing up and eating true foods because it effects the structure of one's face and breathing.

I know I do breathing through my mouth as it slightly open as well as other reasons but the tip of my tongue does rest against the roof of my mouth so I must be doing some nose breathing too. If I slightly move my lower jaw forward my lips will close but otherwise they are open naturally in their resting posistion. Any suggestions for me? I know that is brief and often simplicity is the best way to go about things but I know there are other factors as well.

So if I’d been able to breath through my nose and not my mouth at an early age, I’d be a male model now ? Dang!

My son has this partly out of habit and partly due chronic nasal congestion which is probably allergic (perhaps to our two dogs?). Doctors have not found a way to reduce the congestion.
This video was the usual typical unpleasant bait and switch. The whole video is about diagnosing mouth breathing and then telling viewers how bad it is. The "stop" part is something that one would have to pay for. There are a lot of Americans posting videos of problems and then attempting to charge for their solution.

Any solution since your post ? Also I understand you don't have this problem, only your son, what about the mother ?
I ' m trying tape over my mouth while sleeping, but some nights I have to remove it. In fact nose congestion can start and stop every 5 minutes, with an alternance of free and plesant nose breathing, followed by a total congestion of nasal airways, then again comfortable nasal breathing 5 minutes later... some nights are fine, other times rising slighly the head can help opening airways... it's quite mysterious !

Yes, the mum, my wife tends to mouth breathe too.
That is partly because she cuts a lot of firewood and gets congested with sawdust. Using a mask would help, perhaps.
But that is only a part of the problem, I think.
Another thing may be pride. I think that in order to beat or equal my overwhelming and abhorrent pride, my wife may breathe through her mouth. Breathing through ones mouth is a bit like a power-pose, it gives one more confidence.
Nostril enlarging stiff bandaid type things (a nasal bandaid-type spline?) that athletes used to have a fad for, do not seem to be completely useless. I hope you know what I mean. I bought some cheap from ali express but my son does not wear them. I'd recommend trying nostril enlargers far far more than taping your mouth.
I would avoid doing any mouth taping at night myself! But I am not sure.
Being thin and not being drunk are probably enough for many people. My son is both thin and not drunk. My wife is thinnish and not drunk. So these are not the only two factors.
      Please keep trying.

Your most recent comment is not displayed and the whole of it does not show in my inbox. I am not joking about my pride.
I'd like to see a video of someone with a taped up mouth. I find it difficult to imagine. Ages ago a British teacher taped the mouth of a pupil who vomited, chocked, and died.

Weird, as I can see my whole comment. Personal rantings, but they could apply to your family, who knows. If you find the cause of congestion, please post it. About the vomiting pupil, I have some doubts, maybe the teacher used super glue... I use 1' wide medical adhesive tape, 4-5' long (or less if you are the anxious type, this way you can breathe through the sides of the mouth if needed, but the mouth should be strong enough to open even with a longer tape) I got this tip from a doctor... on youtube (I know, I know).

      @nvslknm 9 років тому

Shali, I am a guy and I can not resist this comment from a pretty face. Since I can not see what happens when you swallow or close your lips because I am looking at a video and not a picture I shall have to see this if your assessment is accurate or wrong in real life of swallowing and closed lips. So we shall experiment together and see wether it's the truth or not. I have a strong feeling you will look good:)
