Team sweet forever!! If I can't resist the craving, I just make sure it's the truest/purest form I can afford. So my rule is if I want cake im just gonna have to make it from scratch. Then my laziness kicks in...
+Evelyn From The Internets That is a FANTASTIC tip. I saw a video once where a guy showed the process and time it took to make fries, and the point was "if we just made the fries every time we wanted to eat them, they wouldn't be so bad for us" (because we wouldn't eat them nearly as much lol). I thought it was really insightful!
+jshaianne26 try "nicecream" as a replacement. peel, cut up and freeze ripe bananas, then once they're frozen blend them till creamy (they'll turn grainy first, keep blending). This satisfied my cravings.
I know it sounds crazy but when I am craving (I'm a savory craver) i'll go online to a website that sells the food that I want and i'll look around and add things to my virtual cart, but I don't check out when I am done. I think a lot of my cravings are just mental so mentally choosing the food and adding it to the cart is satisfying to me. This usually works for me both with food and with clothing shopping.
+latta4lewzers #teamsavory that actually sounds like a great way to handle it! Thanks so much for sharing, totally worth a try :) I've read some articles that talk about if you think about the last indulgent meal you had and the process of eating it, what you enjoyed, how it made you feel, etc. it can also help you with this mental block. Great suggestion!!
It really depends on my mood that day if I'm craving something. Usually my main cravings are some type of chocolate treat, or fries. Or donuts. Or pizza. What had been working for me (except during the week of Christmas/New Years) I just won't eat and remember how guilty and depressed I feel eating it afterwords. But my birthday is next month, so I don't care I'm getting chocolate cake, lol.
+P3acexL0veScr1be lol, you're cravings sound right up my alley! Happy early birthday! Eat something DELICIOUS! My birthday always becomes dedicated to food all day long lol
Oh cravings...And YES TO PIZZA! hahahahaha. I agree there's something about cravings and nutritional needs, a lot of the time. All through this pregnancy I've been craving wild amounts of fruit. I think my body is smart :)
Even though it's probably not the best for you, when I'm trying to lose weight and not eat sugar (I have a huge sweet tooth) I just make a whole box of sugar free jello. It's 10 calories a serving and there's 4 servings in an entire box. So 40 calories for an entire pan of cherry jello... Um yes please haha. I always have a bunch of boxes in my pantry. Only downfall is you have to let it cool in the fridge for 4 hours, so you have to plan ahead.
+Cait Smith It totally depends, no calorie sweeteners can be really good for people who are trying to lose weight and transition off of real sugar regularly. I've had that jello and it's pretty good! Great way to satisfy your sweet craving in a way that contains less calories and better macros. I'm sure they'll have to start making that jello with a natural sweetener which would be great!
There's unflavored gelatin, it's just plain protein. You can mix with some juice you like and use some stevia, and then you will have the healthy homemade version!
+Mind Over Munch yeah they really should!! Anddddd Quest bars need to get a little cheaper so I can start buying them! Hahaha also they need to come out with a cereal already!!!
What happens with me is that I crave a pizza...eat a whole lot of pizza...promise that I won't eat pizza for a month at least because I am starting to hate it...and then eat pizza again the next day. It sucks for me!
As soon as you said cravings I was thinking PIZZA! It's my favorite food but I loved how you distinguished what the cravings could be. I am still holding on during the "no sugar challenge" I have been eating more fruit and looking into healthier options such as nice cream. I am also trying "Meatless Mondays". I gotta a lot going on here! :)
+Shaun Brown Wow you are killing it! That's so awesome! So glad you're sticking with me on the #nosugarchallenge. Love the meatless Mondays idea too :)
I was doing great with the no sugar challenge until I walk into work today and someone brought in a whole tray of brownies! I didn't eat any but I really wanted to!
I was wondering something about the sugar challenge! I'm following the rules assiduously, but I'm just wondering what will happen AFTER we go back on sugar? wouldn't that just nullify everything we've done so far?😅 I don't really eat sugar much anyway, except for jam made of fruit (can't eat it now cos of the concentrate) or coconut sugar/stevia in my oatmeal.
+Victoria Lim Great question! First of all, I'd suggest sticking with it for 2-3 weeks if you can, you'll see a bigger difference in both cravings and your palate if you can make it longer. Once you decide to eat sugar again, try easing back into it... choose things sweetened with fruit, or natural sweeteners first. Also, sweeten TO TASTE. Your palate will be different so you may find yourself needing much less sweetener in a coffee or even a baked good than you used to :)
I crave both, usually spicy for my savory. So my cabinet is FILLED with spices like cayenne, cumin, paprika, chili, etc. I usually end up making chili with a lot of veggies (and chopped apples) and try to use low sodium tomato juice and beans as well as yogurt and chopped onions to top it instead of sour cream/cheese. I just found recently that the corn butter I made is great on bread to dip in that chili as well. lol For sweet, I've been making my own nice cream with bananas, real peanut butter, and a few squares of dark baking chocolate mixed in my food processor. That tends to curb the craving. lol Also, I tend to eat something sweet every day like plain yogurt with raisins and peanut butter or homemade jam now for breakfast/lunch. I've come a long way from eating Rice Krispy treats and Kit-Kats. lol
I'm mostly #TeamSweet but I can also be #TeamSavory, I guess. I love Jack in the Box's Chocolate Cake as much as I love Taco Bell's tacos. I honestly have NO idea how I've managed to exist this long, as my ARFID rules over my stomach, which means I mostly eat via cravings.
I'm not typically a sugar person but if by some random reason I'm craving sweets or even something specific like fries, it's because I'm PMSing. On normal days I don't have cravings. 😁👍
+Jade Green lol! It is torture, I'm so sorry! It's a tough week, but I'm getting to that point where my cravings are going down! I hope you hit it soon!
For those who crave chocolate, a good option is also the schoko-chai YOGI-tea. Well, it's not the same but it satisfies the taste-check and it helps feel "full" ;-) I personally crave all things savoury, but chocolate still remains one guilty pleasure..and schoko-chai is Always in my paintry :)
Another tea that is great when you're craving something sweet is the Harney & Sons Paris tea! It's a fruity black tea with hints of vanilla. Aside from just wanting to bathe in the smell, the taste is sweet enough to kick my cravings
+CaramelmochaCurls I LOVE that you aren't giving up! I had a slip-up too- I ate some soup that had sugar in it- I didn't read the label til after! DARN SNEAKY SUGAR! But we won't quit! #nosugarchallenge
I used to crave pickles a lot. Like... A LOT a lot. I don't anymore, and i think it's because of me being more conscious with what I eat, and making sure I eat ENOUGH calories, since, you know, eating disorders can fuck you up, lol.
I usually crave donuts. However, I realized recently that I usually don't want sweets when I'm around friends and loved ones doing something fun. I've also found mindful eating (trying to listen to my body rather than my reflex to eat donuts) and usually what I really want is something sweet (like oatmeal and honey).
Oooh, so is that why I crave sweets when I'm sad/down/depressed. This is so my battle right now. Living in a not so great situation and finding myself turning to sweets for comfort. I'd much rather have sweets as a treat though. I do exercise regularly and try my best though!
six months ago i was graving sugar then i was diagnosed with diabetes (sugar rush was one of its symptoms), so craving sweets sometimes is a sign of something take care
After going vegan nearly two months ago I started increasing my intake of fruits and veggies which lead me to stop craving the junk food that I used to consume. I mean, it's called junk food for a reason, so it's clearly not a good sign if we're craving it lol
I crave sweets a lot. I just try to focus on the fact that I'm not actually hungry and distract myself by listening to some music and singing along lol! I completely forget about whatever I was craving
Fruit is the best!! When I eat a good amount of fruit I don't crave sugary foods at all! 🍏🍌🍒🍑🍉🍇🍓🍅🍊🍐🍈. I'm also savory person as well, I love pizza, fries, wings, seafood, and mac & cheese lol!!
I'm mostly a savory craver, but it depends on the mood. I don't go for potato chips or similar, instead I eat a slice of bread with salami on it. Still salty and savory, but keeps me full for longer.
I like making a mac and cheese dish using greek yogurt and some shredded mozzerella cheese, it sounds like an odd combo but I get the creaminess from the yogurt and still some cheese without having to use too much.
I'm not prejudicial...I crave both. LoL This week especially sugar, cause duh #nosugarchallenge. LoL. Really good points in this video, I am the Queen of food excuses. So far, so good. 😸
So I am doing the #nosugarchallenge and I'm still going (somewhat) strong... Despite many... MANY temptations... I didn't die like I thought I would've ...i eat lot of fruit... And each day I do feel a little better about holding out... Pray for me!!!!
+Michelle B LOL! I am so glad you didn't die. It is supposed to be hard, it's a CHALLENGE! But you are making it and proving to yourself that you are capable of more than you thought, and that's amazing!
Great video!!! I tend to crave savory food and sweet drinks! I lighten up savory foods by adding more vegetables and/or reducing the amount of salt I use, which took me a while to adjust to but is now second nature. Sweet drinks, however, have been a huge challenge for me! I was slowly able to wean myself off of soda (Dr Pepper was my life) and have recently found that chilled coffee (with soy or almond milk) more than satisfies my sweet craving without the high fructose corn syrup and copios amounts of sugar (64 grams of sugar in a bottle Dr Pepper to 15 or 30 grams in chilled coffee, depending on the brand/serving/if I make it myself). Better still, I can drink a smaller serving of the coffee and feel content with what I've had for practically the whole day, as opposed to the multiple cans or bottles of Dr Pepper I could drink in a day and still be craving more. AND I get slight nutritional boost from the milk! It took me years to get to this point, so I'm proud of how far I've come and how far I'll be able to go!
+Margaret Docena Thank you! I also love adding veggies to volumize a dish! Love that you're finding ways to lighten up your sweet drink cravings :) Great efforts that your body appreciates!
I crave both! Salty and sweet! Lol When I eat something sweet, then I want salty. I eat something salty, then I crave something sweet! It's a vicious cycle lol I crave Chinese food and Thai food. Those 2 are my weakness. The way I satisfy my craving is to cook healthier options at home. I love broccoli beef/chicken- I make my own by adding LOTS more veggies- broccoli, carrots, onions, and sometimes sugar snap peas. I also don't do sauce. I just add some low sodium soy sauce. It satisfies it for me. I'll admit, I do go out and eat them both but ONLY 2 times a month, at most. I just eat only half of the dish and ask for a side of veggies available. I eat veggies first and enjoy the food of choice 😊 All about balance.
+Vava Ivanov lol I know all about that sweet and salty cycle... Late nights are when I have to really focus on avoiding that! I also love adding more veggies to those types of dishes, it volumizes the dish in a healthy way!! And not using a sauce is great! That is a fantastic balance :)
I do have cravings but I can usually keep them under control. My problem is certain trigger foods. For example, peanut butter is mine. I make my own which I know is healthier but I could eat a whole jar in a day so I'm not making it anymore. I guess you'd call it an extreme craving:) Also, I'm loving this kickstart series. Thank you for doing it:))
+Cheryl Hock lol I totally feel you on the nut butter situation. I can also eat the whole jar and really have to have a lot of self control. I made a rule last year that I can't eat it off of the spoon anymore lol, I now have to put what I want into a small bowl or plate an leave! So glad you're enjoying the series! Thanks so much for watching :)
I'm really enjoying your videos, they're really helpful!! Thanks for doing the kickstart! I've been 'craving' junk food everyday and even when I indulge, I still want it the next day - so you're definitely right, it's not really a 'craving'... I just really love eating those damn burgers!!
I used to always crave nuts. I had a bag of pistachios in my room... Sometimes good fat isn't always good, like pistachios, because you can quickly go overboard with them (or maybe it's just me?). I moved the bag out of my room and it's now sitting in my new house that I will move into next month... Hopefully I won't go overboard. And Apples. I have been desperately craving apples. It should be ok to eat those I assume 0.o lol
+Bani Badwal It's not just you, I can go WAY overboard on nuts, especially pistachios lol. I try to buy the pistachios that are still in the shell so it forces me to slow down! Craving apples isn't a bad thing :)
IIFYM (keep track with myfitnesspal) and intermittent fasting (daily short time fasts from 8pm til 12) are great ways to control and manage food cravings. Your body will quickly adapt to the fact that you won't get any nutrients til lunch which will make your appetite in the morning disappear. Coffee and tea also helps if you struggle at first. It also allows you to have bigger meals since you're having fewer of them. Doing IIFYM gives you the liberty to add some unhealthy food you're craving to your diet without overshooting your calorie or nutrient goals for the day. It's been working for me for 4 months now and I barely ever feel any cravings and when I do I get my phone out and see whether I can incorporate that food into my diet today or tomorrow, so my feeling of craving that food actually turn to joy of looking forward to eating it. So, I agree, it's mostly psychological.
hi doll! I've commented on your videos before, but I would like your opinion in something, I have a lot of back and neck problems, disk issues, nerve issues and a whole a lot of stuff haha so it makes it very difficult for me to work out and be active, I try to be as careful as I can with all my food choices, but I've been slipping up...but what do you suggest I do? I feel like I'm in a rut....I've gained about 20 pounds, or maybe more Idk I'm terrified to weigh myself, in the past few months from re injuring myself so I've been even less active...do you have any suggestions about what I could do?
+Jana Kulka Hi friend! So sorry you've been dealing with so many injuries, what a bummer! You of course need to be careful and make sure you're taking care of your body with workouts- don't overdo it! I'd suggest seeing a physical therapist or doctor that can help make sure your recovery is efficient and effective. A personal trainer might be able to help guide you with exercises that can work even with your injuries. The truth is, food has the biggest effect when it comes to weight loss and maintenance. Exercise is important, but diet more-so. It's hard with injuries because so much more emphasis is put on the food when you can't exercise, but that is okay! Try to have fun with ENJOYING whole foods rather than it being a daunting chore. We crave what we eat, so as we become accustomed to eating more healthy and whole foods, we will become more used to eating them :) I share many delicious remake recipes on the channel so maybe those can help you get started. You might want to also consider meal prepping foods so you have those healthier options available to you at all times! :) Cheers
Personally if I thinking about some specifically like a certain ice cream & the flavor or a meal I have in mind for over a couple days I'll enjoy the real thing however, if any savory or sweet item will do and I'm not picky I know it's probably more of a emotional or hormonal craving. If it's emotional/hormonal I try to wait it out or find a lighter version of it. This took me a long time to find out what worked for me since I'm very sugar sensitive & can go gangbusters if I start indulging when it's an emotional/hormonal craving!!😆😋 These are nice videos~thank you!!👍🏻🤗👸🏼
+1queenruler I agre! Sometimes, I have to see how long the craving sticks around to see if I am REALLY craving it! Love that you've found your balance!
#teamsweet i Just get crazy around chocolate and cookies, or a piece of cake. The thing is that I'm working on a restaurant and all types of smell go trough the hallway everyday.. We're not aloud to eat NOTHING doesn't matter if we bring that home. 😞😞😞 Is kind of hard for me but trying to drink tons of water to forget the smell of everything!!
+Laura Sylvana Calvo Martinez I can totally see how hard that would be! I don't think I could handle working in a restaurant for that reason, too many temptations!!
#TeamSweet and #TeamSavory ... I crave for chocolates after that I crave for pizza, and then cakes and then burgers! Yayyy, am I the only one like this?? So whenever I buy foods/snacks, I do buy the things I crave but I make sure to buy less and have more fruits.
Hell, I crave it all! LOL. Its cold here in the Midwest, So I want salty, sweet and savory. Thank you for your video. Your videos are always full of good information and helpful tips and this one is no exception. This is awesome! To satisfy a craving that is persistent, I give in because when I indulge (my favorite raw food restaurant), I can walk away or get tired of it. If it is a small craving, I can drink water until I can get to a food source.
A tip I learned for cravings is to ask yourself, "would an apple satisfy me?" If no, then it's just a craving and you're not actually hungry. It works for me. I usually then drink some water because I was probably dehydrated.
#TeamSavory I only seem to crave sweets when I am low on sugar. I drink soda like 0-1 time a year ( I'm alive lol) I don't eat candy but I am a chocolate fan :) Specifically dark :) 60-80% The two best ways I deal with cravings is either to eat it or wait it out. When I eat it, i am satisfied and it ends there. When i don't and eat other things (Even healthier) & im still unsatisfied. Waiting it out is the toughest but it's the most effective. Waiting it out is best for when you cannot afford to gain weight and take in the extra calories. When I could afford to, I eat it :)
If I think I'm hungry I just drink a glass of water or if I can go for a 5 minute walk. I'm usually bored and or thirsty as you mentioned. So I just sip on some lemon/lime water (homemade) and stretch and go jogging. I'm usually satisfied. It's just a better way to cure boredom than my previous habits.
I try to substitute because I find myself craving all kinds of foods that eaten regularly would make me a pile of shortening. My problem is that when they hit and I try to prepare, it's usually wrong. When I crave sweets I have nuts, when I crave fries I have fruit. Ugh...
Sometimes I can ignore the craving (#Team Savory), but when it lasts for a day or so, I'll give in. My trick is to be "present" when I give into the craving, meaning I sit at a table, don't have my phone or TV on, and actually savor every bite. I find if I cater to the craving mindlessly, then I walk away wanting more.
+M Mow Absolutely! Being present and giving yourself permission to indulge are two of the most important things you can do when you crave. Make each bite count and be okay with it!! Mindless eating is what we want to avoid! :) Great tips!
Im craving for RICE right now, and it's 9:30pm omg!!!! I ate a lots today and Im still not full yet. Omg!! I crave for rice like a maniac 😭 what should I do :((
You may be missing some essential minerals or carbohydrates, try fruit or seeds :) And remember to check in and see if it is a mental or physical craving!
#TEAMHEALTHY ? I never get unhealthy Cravings! As you said we crave what we eat and I often crave things like dal, kale, brown rice, beans, nori, pomelo, renkon, daikon and burdock root. ;)
whenever i REALLY crave something, i just eat it... unless it's out of reach. i don't get that many cravings though - usually just once a week. and i only keep wholesome foods at my house so i don't feel guilty whenever i indulge. but it wasn't always like that. i just learned to accept it and enjoy it.
I crave sweets then I crave something savory. I turn fruit into candy by making fruit roll ups with JUST strawberries( or any other fruit I have on hand) or like the other day I choped and apple, and cooked it with some cinnamin and grapeseed oil. I am going to bake some potato chips today using sweet potatoes. Those are just a few of my Crave Crushers. Hope I helped someone.
Definitely #TeamSweet I live for chocolate, cookies, cakes, Starbucks drinks... I love it. To combat those cravings, I try my best to not keep any snack things in the house. If I have any chocolate lying around, it's dark chocolate and usually those little bite sized ones. I will limit myself to only one or two when I feel the need. I will sometimes have a tiny bit of Nutella on my fruit as a treat as well. Extra sweet and super delicious.
No mention of cravings related to pregnancy? The only cravings I ever had were when I was pregnant with my son. Beans and chocolate milk every day (but not together, that'd be gross). I still like them both, but not every day.
#teamsweet every single day of my life haha. I try to go for the heathly option and increase my water intake cause i used to drink only when was thirsty. I won´t lie I also love my cheat meals with cakes cause i also love baking! Just discovered your blog, it´s amazing, one day i´d like to become a doctor specialized in nutrition. Sorry for my english, regards from Argentina =)
I love your videos! Everything you said on this videos is correct, but in my case i improved my diet 8 month ago. I lost 79 lbs and my cravings went down by eating healthy m, drinking a lot of water, exercising, cutting mu sugar intake. But still i crave some foods even though they're minimal now, I don't know what depression is. I'm always happy and optimistic. But i can't get rid of the cravings jajaja. Is like the devil on one side is telling me eat chocolate, eat pizza and then the angel is like Carlos don't it.
+carlos piantini Thank you!! What a fantastic journey you've been on! Congrats on your weight loss, I'm sure you've learned a lot along the way! Your insight is fantastic, I just love your positive energy :) Thank you for bringing it to this channel and community!
I mostly crave chocolate - the desire can be terribly powerful!! Sometimes I just try and forget by getting busy with something else I enjoy - like drawing or painting. Other times I make a brownie in a mug in the microwave, but only if the craving is really bad. I always have the ingredients(since they are pretty basic), but it takes time to make and doesn't really taste that heavenly as the real deal - but it's enough to satisfy the worst part of the craving so I don't feel as overwhelmed by it afterwards.
Your videos are amazing!!!! I have just gotten into try to live a better lifestyle like actually caring about what I put into my body and trying to get "fit" and your videos really help by giving a lot of great info in a comprehensive format :) So just thank you!!!
#teamsweet! BTW, I always used to crave chocolate in the late evening. I started eating more fruits and vegetables during the day, and I drastically stopped wanting sugar at night. I am so happy to have broken a bad habit! Thank you!
#teamsweet all the way. I WANT SUGAR ALL THE TIME GIVE ME HOSTESS CAKES GIVE ME CHOCOLATE GIVE ME ICE CREAM GIVE ME FRICKING TABLE SUGAR I DONT CARE lol :-)
#teamsavory all the way! crunchy and salty! my way to "avoid" cravings is deciding if it's real or in my head! I will drink a bottle of water and distract myself for an hour (take a walk, color, liaten to podcasts get lost in pinterest) if I'm still hungry or craving something I will make a lighter version.
I'm wanting chocolate and coffee right now. My husband asked me if I wanted something from the store and I wanted (so badly) something chocolate but I said NO :D This week I ate some strawberries and that helped a ton. I also been trying to make better meals so I don't want to ruin my progress by going off the challenge.
I definitely crave sweets more, but pizza is my ultimate Achilles heel. I've at a whole pizza before. And at one point I've had pizza for at least one meal for 9 consecutive days. I really like pizza 🍕
I LOVE pizza!! I'm totally a savory craver more than a sweet. It's tough, but the cravings really do pass! It makes those occasional indulgences even more awesome (and well-earned!) when we have them :)
This is my new favorite community! I'm so happy that I found this. It has a relaxed and educational vibe! :) also #teamsweet!! I love gelato :) I get it on occasion :)
Like you mentioned, a lot of times you're just thirsty or dehydrated. When I crave something, I try to drink a lot of water first and do something to distract myself. If it goes away, I know it wasn't a real craving. If it doesn't go away, I usually just eat it ;)
+Brandy Mayo Yes! Sometimes I'll wait a few days and if something has been on my mind and I think I'm craving it, chances are I need to just eat it if it lasts more than a day or two!
My husband hates when we get too busy to meal plan for the week. It gets to be time for dinner and he'll ask me "what do you want?" I don't have cravings for specific foods I just know when I'm hungry.
I had a craving for chocolate sooo intensely last night. I ended up having a little square of dark chocolate with a glass of water, which I'm pretty proud of. Normally I'd go ham and eat an entire bar or drink some hot chocolate or something equally sugary and bad for me. I generally always crave sugar or sweet things. I've started keeping fruits ready and easily accessible in an attempt to squash this habit, but I still keep a bar of good, dark chocolate around just in case.
To satisfy cravings, I normally look for a healthy recipe to whatever I'm craving, and then just fit it in my macros. Every once in awhile I will schedule days where I can just have the thing that I actually want, but I work it into my macros. #TeamSavory
I don't get cravings often but when I do it's usually for something sweet. I can get really specific cravings like a banana chocolate chip cookie or a neoploatin milkshake or sliced strawberries and pineapple. I know it's strange but that's me.
I used to eat savory meals and sweet snacks in between. but now, since I have way too many carby veggies in lunch and dinner, I kinda feel full all the time and I don't need snacks in between, so I divide my sweet tooth for breakfast, and savory meals for lunch and dinner. I wish you best of luck for trying to understand what I'm saying xP
I don't ever crave sweets or anything like that. Sometimes, I just want a nice cold sandwich or hot panini. Sometimes pasta. Sometimes fried rice. You're getting the hints? #TeamSavory. But alas, I am on a Ketogenic lifestyle and only treat myself to these things once a week or every other week.
I get phases where I need something pickled. So I'm #teamsour. Thankfully I can just eat a glass of gherkins or pearl onions without having to feel bad about it. From time to time I also need nougat chocolate, but that's a symptom that tells me that I'm getting a migraine.
I'm definitely #teamsweet - I know I can live without chocolate and ice cream. Much of this week has gone into finding ice cream alternatives without actually buying the stuff. But I'm not sure on chocolate alternatives. I just want to keep eating sweet foods and being healthy at the same time. How do I do that?
+A.J. DeVial I'm lucky enough to not care so much about chocolate, I'm more of a pizza gal lol! Some other chocolate loving viewers have shared that they like doing a small square of dark chocolate instead of a huge indulgence, or even trying 100% cocoa without added sugar!
definetely #teamsavory! Pasta dishes and cheese is a huge one for me! When I am craving something sweet i looooooove melting dark chocolate and drizzling it over pineapple and strawberries sliced up! really curbs my craving!
I am definitely a savoury craver! :O I always crave meat, eggs + cheese! I usually deal with them by eating meat, eggs + cheese! xD What does that mean?
when I am craving something I usually drink tea. flavored drinks usually satisfy my cravings, and tea is a much healthier option than a soda obviously.
I guess i am mostly a savory craver but sometimes i can be a sweet craver, It depends on my mood. My main cravings are some type of mix nuts, salty peanuts, pizza, popcorn, chocolate coated Oreo and ice cream or frozen yogurt. I can usually keep them under control unless i'm sad or had a bad day. #teamsalty #teamsweet
I thought it was really insightful!
well that can not work if you are injoying baking. That is where my problem starts....
I'm #teamswavory ... best of both! I like my salty crunchy things to have a bit of sweet! Lol. Anyone else with me?
What type of craver are you? What food do you crave most and how do you deal with it?! I crave PIZZA. every. day. #pizzaisbae
Ugh! My weaknesses are wings(any flavor really) and ice cream...gahhh
+jshaianne26 try "nicecream" as a replacement. peel, cut up and freeze ripe bananas, then once they're frozen blend them till creamy (they'll turn grainy first, keep blending). This satisfied my cravings.
Dumplings! And pizza >.>
Chocolate. Every. Freaking. Day.
+Bop Zippity i feel you
"I am not encouraging you to go buy something instead of eating junk food.. but maybe I am" hahah
+noxredemptions lol... whatever works right!?
#teamsweet
I know it sounds crazy but when I am craving (I'm a savory craver) i'll go online to a website that sells the food that I want and i'll look around and add things to my virtual cart, but I don't check out when I am done. Great suggestion!!
#teamsweet I'm very addicted to dark chocolate...
+Katie Labadie I wish I preferred dark!
#TeamSavory, always. All about the salt up in here.
+kzzinsky I know about that!
For real though
#teamsweet I almost never crave salty
Team sweet!
+Fifteen Spatulas I have heard pregnancy cravings are the most extreme! If I crave a bunch of fruit, I'll be happy lol!!
+Kartik Chawla trust me, I've been there... It was a tough cycle for me. It definitely takes discipline and commitment but can be overcome!
#teamsavory
everything in moderation is something good to remember :)
+Rachel Lehnert Definitely! As long as we are truly being moderate lol :)
Team Sweet!!!! I actually do not like pizza!! I know shame. I love dessert!!!!
+Kari Thomason Lol, shame, or LUCKY!
+Melissy Doll That's awesome that you resisted! Keep up the good work!
#teamsweet I eat oatmeal whenever I'm craving for sweets (make with milk or water, only! No sugar is allowed!)
Nice choice!!
#teamsavory GIVE ME ALL THE SALT
Oh Alyssia why would you torture me with that chocolate cake on the thumbnail with this no sugar challenge. Going to go cry myself to sleep now.
No I'm kidding but, cravings are the worst ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW
+Jade Green lol!
+Samanta Berruti cool, I'll have to check it out! thank you!
Another tea that is great when you're craving something sweet is the Harney & Sons Paris tea! It's a fruity black tea with hints of vanilla. Aside from just wanting to bathe in the smell, the taste is sweet enough to kick my cravings
#fail on the nosugarchallenge. :-( I tried. I am starting again tomorrow. #help
+CaramelmochaCurls I LOVE that you aren't giving up! I had a slip-up too- I ate some soup that had sugar in it- I didn't read the label til after! DARN SNEAKY SUGAR! But we won't quit! #nosugarchallenge
Usually #teamsweet... but when something happens and i cry and feel sad i'm totally #teamfat!
"Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity." -- Voltaire.
I used to crave pickles a lot. Like... A LOT a lot. I don't anymore, and i think it's because of me being more conscious with what I eat, and making sure I eat ENOUGH calories, since, you know, eating disorders can fuck you up, lol.
+Emily Donnelly (My Own Damn Show) Totally! We definitely crave when we aren't eating enough! Great point!
I usually crave donuts. However, I realized recently that I usually don't want sweets when I'm around friends and loved ones doing something fun. I've also found mindful eating (trying to listen to my body rather than my reflex to eat donuts) and usually what I really want is something sweet (like oatmeal and honey).
That's so good that you are learning what your body wants! It takes a lot of people a very long time to really listen.
Oooh, so is that why I crave sweets when I'm sad/down/depressed. This is so my battle right now. Living in a not so great situation and finding myself turning to sweets for comfort. I'd much rather have sweets as a treat though. I do exercise regularly and try my best though!
+NoellewasHere just do your best :) I think even being aware of emotional eating is a good step in the right direction :)
six months ago i was graving sugar then i was diagnosed with diabetes (sugar rush was one of its symptoms), so craving sweets sometimes is a sign of something take care
#Teamsweet
#teamboth
After going vegan nearly two months ago I started increasing my intake of fruits and veggies which lead me to stop craving the junk food that I used to consume. I mean, it's called junk food for a reason, so it's clearly not a good sign if we're craving it lol
+Bahsel Aridi absolutely! You crave what you eat, so when we eat less junk, we'll crave it less! :)
I crave sweets a lot. I just try to focus on the fact that I'm not actually hungry and distract myself by listening to some music and singing along lol! I completely forget about whatever I was craving
+Rachel Niccolai yes!! Great tip! We crave when we're bored so it's good to keep yourself busy!
Fruit is the best!! When I eat a good amount of fruit I don't crave sugary foods at all! 🍏🍌🍒🍑🍉🍇🍓🍅🍊🍐🍈. I'm also savory person as well, I love pizza, fries, wings, seafood, and mac & cheese lol!!
+sweetiepie9411 I totally agree! I think that's why I crave more salty foods- I eat more fruits than anything else! :) I'm with you on #teamsavory
I'm mostly a savory craver, but it depends on the mood. I don't go for potato chips or similar, instead I eat a slice of bread with salami on it. Still salty and savory, but keeps me full for longer.
+Summerpoison Potato chips are a huge weakness of mine! I can't keep them in the house!
what if your only cravings are healthy food like fruit or sweet potatoes? I don't get any cravings for junk food.
you crave what you eat, so if you eat more healthy food you'll crave it :)
I like making a mac and cheese dish using greek yogurt and some shredded mozzerella cheese, it sounds like an odd combo but I get the creaminess from the yogurt and still some cheese without having to use too much.
+Samantha Marie YES! I have a greek yogurt mac that I love!!! ua-cam.com/video/lIfWLiv0ssw/v-deo.html
I "crave" foods full of grain and wheat XD
How about #SweetandSavory ? I crave both, I have no self control haha.
I'm not prejudicial...I crave both. LoL This week especially sugar, cause duh #nosugarchallenge. LoL. Really good points in this video, I am the Queen of food excuses. So far, so good. 😸
+Cat Sieja lol, #teamfood!! You're doing a fantastic job!! You're even keeping me accountable which I love lol!!
#TeamPeanutButter
So I am doing the #nosugarchallenge and I'm still going (somewhat) strong... Despite many... MANY temptations... I didn't die like I thought I would've ...i eat lot of fruit... And each day I do feel a little better about holding out... Pray for me!!!!
+Michelle B LOL! I am so glad you didn't die. It is supposed to be hard, it's a CHALLENGE! But you are making it and proving to yourself that you are capable of more than you thought, and that's amazing!
Definitely #TeamSavory!
It's a vicious cycle lol
I crave Chinese food and Thai food.
#teamsavory
+Ess Ayy Burgers are a huge weakness of both Christian's and mine... we struggle to NOT have a weekly burger lol!
Great tips, thanks for sharing :)
Maybe you can do a video on better things to eat during pms. It would be really helpful lol.. If you have already plz lmk =)
+Ashley Elyse thanks for the suggestion!
+Elppa Mae lol, you aren't alone. It's the cycle of sweet and savory!! That sounds like a good balance to me :)
+Kay Von Kent So glad you found it useful! Seems like you have a good balance down to handle cravings :) Nice tip on the small craving, too!
A tip I learned for cravings is to ask yourself, "would an apple satisfy me?" If no, then it's just a craving and you're not actually hungry. It works for me. I usually then drink some water because I was probably dehydrated.
+Simone Miranda this is SO true! We need to remind ourselves to ask that question before giving in!!
#TeamSavory
I only seem to crave sweets when I am low on sugar.
+Cindy Ci absolutely! If you can wait it out, do it!!
All great tips!!
#teamSweet glad I discovered Stevia, Monk Fruit, Dates, unpasturized/unrefined honey as sugar substitute in baked goods.
+ctheartiste absolutely! Love monk fruit and dates!
I try to substitute because I find myself craving all kinds of foods that eaten regularly would make me a pile of shortening. My problem is that when they hit and I try to prepare, it's usually wrong. When I crave sweets I have nuts, when I crave fries I have fruit. Ugh...
Try having fruit when you crave sweets, and nuts when you crave fries :)
As you said we crave what we eat and I often crave things like dal, kale, brown rice, beans, nori, pomelo, renkon, daikon and burdock root. ;)
+Terry That's awesome! The more healthy food we eat, the more we'll crave it!
whenever i REALLY crave something, i just eat it... unless it's out of reach. i don't get that many cravings though - usually just once a week. and i only keep wholesome foods at my house so i don't feel guilty whenever i indulge. but it wasn't always like that. i just learned to accept it and enjoy it.
+Pedro B. that's great! I act similarly- I try to only keep whole foods in my house so that I can indulge when I go out :) I also had to learn that!!
+Christian Craig Those are awesome tips! I love making fruit roll ups too, I need to make some more, thanks for reminding me :)
Definitely #TeamSweet
I live for chocolate, cookies, cakes, Starbucks drinks...
+Amanda Chavez I'm #teamsavory... but you reminded me that actually I'm maybe #teamsweet because I'm obsessed with starbucks lol! Great tips :)
No mention of cravings related to pregnancy?
The only cravings I ever had were when I was pregnant with my son.
Beans and chocolate milk every day (but not together, that'd be gross). I still like them both, but not every day.
+Kelly S I haven't been pregnant but I hear those cravings are like no other!!
+Brenda Vlasich Your English is awesome!! Greetings from LA :)
+Mind Over Munch thank you. I always come to your channel to get ideas. Specially deserts.
+Fencill Turning to an activity is a great choice! We crave when we're bored so staying busy is awesome. I love brownie mug cakes!
Your videos are amazing!!!! I have just gotten into try to live a better lifestyle like actually caring about what I put into my body and trying to get "fit" and your videos really help by giving a lot of great info in a comprehensive format :) So just thank you!!!
+Maria Garcia thank you!!
Thank you thank you thank you for this! I've been dealing with major sweet cravings
+T Martinez My pleasure!
100% #teamsavory
pizza, fries, chips...
Then I slap myself and drink another galon of water ;-)
+Petra Kljajić lol, I totally agree! #pizzaisbae
#teamsweet! BTW, I always used to crave chocolate in the late evening. I started eating more fruits and vegetables during the day, and I drastically stopped wanting sugar at night. I am so happy to have broken a bad habit! Thank you!
that's so awesome! I am so glad to hear that :) Be proud!
#teamsweet all the way. I WANT SUGAR ALL THE TIME GIVE ME HOSTESS CAKES GIVE ME CHOCOLATE GIVE ME ICE CREAM GIVE ME FRICKING TABLE SUGAR I DONT CARE lol :-)
+Anahi Cardona LOL
I crave chocolate sometimes, and I'm talking whole milk or white chocolate... but it might just be emotionally, because it's usually while studying
+hhzs I LOVE white chocolate :)
+Laura Norman I'm with you on the crunchy and salty!
I'm wanting chocolate and coffee right now. My husband asked me if I wanted something from the store and I wanted (so badly) something chocolate but I said NO :D
This week I ate some strawberries and that helped a ton. I also been trying to make better meals so I don't want to ruin my progress by going off the challenge.
+Jess Miller Good for you for saying no!! It seems like you're making awesome progress!! Stay strong :)
+Miss Priya Pandita I'm so happy to have you here! Thank you for being a part of it!
+Jessica Elizabeth Delaney (ObscurusMercury) Meal planning really saves me!
#teamsavory for sure!! Although LOVE dark chocolate from the bottom of my heart I'll always choose a sandwich or gac and chips over a piece of cake.
+Virginia Russo I love sandwiches and guac!!
+Carley Doty that's a great way to satisfy the craving! Love that you let yourself indulge in what you wanted a bit without overdoing it :)
To satisfy cravings, I normally look for a healthy recipe to whatever I'm craving, and then just fit it in my macros. Every once in awhile I will schedule days where I can just have the thing that I actually want, but I work it into my macros.
#TeamSavory
+ishmari14 Yes! Macros are a great way to ensure the balance :)
I don't get cravings often but when I do it's usually for something sweet. I can get really specific cravings like a banana chocolate chip cookie or a neoploatin milkshake or sliced strawberries and pineapple. I know it's strange but that's me.
+Drama_Llama_5000 those cravings sound delicious to me! It's good that you crave fruit too :)
+Kindred Fruit Spirit I totally understand! It seems like we could all learn from your balance! :)
+Rajon M lol, I'm getting the hints!!
I get phases where I need something pickled. So I'm #teamsour. Thankfully I can just eat a glass of gherkins or pearl onions without having to feel bad about it.
From time to time I also need nougat chocolate, but that's a symptom that tells me that I'm getting a migraine.
+antrazi taj lol! I love it! #teamsour. That's not a bad craving to have!!
+malex fampbett that's a great sweet treat!
I am definitely a savoury craver! :O
I always crave meat, eggs + cheese!
I usually deal with them by eating meat, eggs + cheese! xD
What does that mean?
+TheBeckzrockz Rose lol! I don't know what it means but I love meat eggs and cheese too :)
when I am craving something I usually drink tea. flavored drinks usually satisfy my cravings, and tea is a much healthier option than a soda obviously.
That's a smart tactic!
+BeBeautifulBeYou salty sweet foods are a huge weakness of mine! Chocolate covered pretzels or sweet/savory popcorns!! OMG I can't resist!
