Hi from a little farm, big family, in Remsen, Iowa! My girls and I just love to watch you cook! Thank you for teaching so well and taking the time to share your wisdom. We are thankful and blessed to have your videos! This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
I got married in 1990, and my husband’s Great Aunt Etter gifted me a wonderful Sunbeam Mixmaster at my bridal shower, which I still cherish and use to this day! She was able to afford it with her employee discount from working at the Sunbeam Appliance factory in Coushatta, Louisiana. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, not even a fancy KitchenAid.
I bought my Mom a Sunbeam, I think it was teal. She had worn out her first electric mixer, but I have her first mixer, it looks like a chicken wire paddle. She used that for many years even making 7 minute icing. A few years ago my cousin’s mixer died. I bought her a red Kitchen aid, she was speechless! And she loved it. After she passed away her daughter starting using it. I bake too, but I’ve never had a stand mixer, I just use a hand held. Oh, also my son and I went in half’s and bought his wife, my precious daughter in law a 7 qt kitchen aid because she was selling her decorated cakes and we wanted to help her out. There was a problem though, it wouldn’t fit under her upper cabinets! 😂 I was craving chocolate cake today, was thinking about making the Texas Sheet cake. But I didn’t. 😂😂😂
My Mom made so many fabulous cakes on her Sunbeam mixer. As I grew up she would donate one every year to the school fundraisers‼️ She was always told she had the " best cakes ever", great memories 😋🍰❤.
"Leftover frosting?" Is there such a thing? LOL. When I was 13 or so and starting baking (I'm 63 now) every time I made chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (using the recipe on the Hershey's Cocoa container) my Dad came up next to me and asked "Are you sure you have enough frosting, Cheryl?" or "Be sure there's plenty of frosting, Cheryl." I can't wait to make this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
We were watching as the cake started bubbling over. I guarantee everyone was yelling at their screen, Oh no, Tammy's new oven!😱 The cake looks delicious!
I was just soooo sad! Wishing Tammy had set it on a baking sheet before putting it into her oven. That oven/range is so beautiful and new I was just sick! I bet it’s not self cleaning! ❤
My sons favorite cake. It just really a moist cake and I know unusual ingredient but must make. I have also had fudge with velveta cheese in I know didn’t taste it but a really creamy fudge.
looks delicious, I have a Sunbeam mixmaster which is 50 years old still going strong, but i do most of my cooking by hand, baking and dinner meals, less washing up for me! ha!ha!ha! I like recipes that you just dump everything in, and turns out great everytime!
I made this cake today with the sour cream frosting for my son's birthday. I didn't get a taste yet but I stuck my finger in the frosting and it's the best frosting I ever tasted! Probably should've just made it like a sheet cake because the 3 layers are leaning. LOL I don't care what it looks like I think it's going to be delicious! Update: This is the softest, moist, flavorful cake I have ever made! Thank you for the recipe.
U know I was thinking Tam Tam .. I think I’ve been with you for over 5 yrs .. love every second of ur videos .. I make ur chicken dressing for thanksgiving now and everybody loves it .. benn rewatching to see how I’ll do my turkey this year .. have a blessed day and God loves you and so do I 🥰🥰🥰
I love your mixer! Just like Mother's a long time ago. However, seeing it work makes me realize how much and why I love my Kitchen Aid. 😊 Thank you for talking about the difference in using water and milk for your chocolate icing! I never would have thought of how to do the difference. Beautiful! Looks like barista coffee swirls. 😊
Hi Tammy..Your cake looked delicious and the Sunbeam mixer reminded me of the one my Mom had when I was a kid ! (Im 62 yrs old) Like you, she also loved to bake & was wonderful at it. She surely would have enjoyed your channel. Sending much love & many blessings from Connecticut. ❤🙏
I have two of those old mixers, one works, one doesn't, but they are still loved and displayed on top of my cabinets. I'm going to make that cake for thanksgiving.
There's nothing better than a barefooted woman cooking...really like the videos great cook and Chris does a good job behind the camera...very blessed to have yall inspiring me to try my hand with your recipes...thanks for all yall do.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw your Sunbeam Mixmaster. My mother had one that was very similar looking with the end cap that told you what it does. She must have gotten it in 1950 when she was married. Love bringing back old memories!
Get one of those oven protector liners made to stay at bottom of your oven...you just pull it out & wash it off and put it back in the bottom of your oven. No more messy stove cleaning! 😉
Oh my goodness, that cake looks scrumptious!! Your daughter will surely appreciate her homemade birthday cake…..😋 I inherited my grandmother’s Sunbeam Mixmaster and I pull it out from time to time because it still works very well. Thanks for the recipe and demonstration--it’s good that you allowed us to see the “oopsey” where the batter went over the edge. We all need to learn from it…..😉 ❤️-Brenda
Looks delicious Tammy!! Your daughters are lucky to have a wonderful mother like you. Give your furbabies some love from the Bray's family in California. Sending your family blessings. We love your vlogs. Thank you Chris and Tammy.
Those old Sunbeams can't be beat. Had mom's for years until it burned up. I don't care for the new ones, it makes sense that the bowl turns, since the beaters sit offset from the middle of the bowl which makes scraping down easy as you have more room and don't have to shut it off. Sure wish I still had that old Sunbeam. Coffee chocolate cake, YUM!!!!
Well I guess you werent planning to do an oven clean so soon. Lol its ok. We love to see professionals do things like we would do. 😂 looks scrumptious. Lava cake with no Lava.
Yummm!I love a good chocolate cake with a thick layer of fudgey frosting. I will make this!! Tammy, you are looking super and thought you should know❣️ Bravo on your weight loss!!
I’d like to make this for my son’s 11th b-day coming up but I’m from Canada and we don’t have self rising flour (that I know of!) what can I do, just use extra baking powder?? OMG, that mixer!!! It brought me back to my childhood and a big smile to my face, thanks Tammy, love your channel!
I ended up buying an 8" x 10" pan because the cake mix batters are so small they make such thin layers. But it does take longer to bake. Almost overflowed, but I did have a sheet pan under it.
Another issue with downsizing instead of just raising prices..baking pans stay the same sizes forever, but mixes get smaller..old recipes no longer "work"..remember #2 cans or #303 cans? "Ingredients" used to be in 16 oz cans (2 cups)..now many are 11.5 oz..gotta be a math major to cook now 😂
YOU HAVE MY MOTHERS MIXER!!!!! That thing was great. A real workhorse. It never wore out. My mother wanted a Kitchenaide. I learned how to bake and would buy another one just like it .❤
Saying hello from Miss .🙋🏽♀️ I love watching you guys! 🤗 but I wanted to add how comfortable soda looks laying in his bed. So cute. Y'all have a great weekend. 💕💜💕🍽
Tammy I love the antique mixer it put a huge smile on my face when I seen it also I love the new kitchen you've done a great job with decorating and picking out all the great things for your upgraded kitchen Love watching all of your UA-cam videos also your southern woman and Chris's retirement UA-cam channel I can't tell you how much I enjoy it I really love when you add your girls to the videos please tell them hi Hope you Chris and the girls enjoy all the upgrades I enjoy watching thanks God bless you
I really like that Sunbeam mixer! I had one and like you I noticed it had similar settings on the dial. It was and oldie but a goodie. I also like that rooster apron, too! Have a great day!
We made a similar cake when I was growing up. We added the crystal in instant coffee. We didn’t use the kind of coffee you drink. But Cup cakes sounds good too.
Hi Tammy. I love your recipe for this chocolate cake, with your frosting. It's so amazing with your ingredients for your frosting. This is going to be great on my Thanksgiving table. Do you have the sheet pan on your website? It’s pretty with your sheet cake. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip to turn down the oven to 325. I’ve had problems in the past of the center not cooking. Even though I test it with a toothpick. How much time would you add to cooking? O
Tammy , I just love to watch you do all kinds of Bakeing & cooking your so much fun injoye watsh love chocolate cake so much , have fun with your daughter today ❤😂🎉god bless 🙏😇❣️✝️ 8:13

That looks amazing!!! And I like the idea of leftover icing to snack on when the cake is all gone 😋 ❤
I'm 66 and my mom had that same mixer when I was a child remember it well. Fresh bread and cinnamon roll s 2 times a week

Thank you for the nice Video 👍 😋🌹
I have one too, but it's not the vintage one you have!!
My Mom made so many fabulous cakes on her Sunbeam mixer. As I grew up she would donate one every year to the school fundraisers‼️ She was always told she had the " best cakes ever", great memories 😋🍰❤.
I love my KitchenAid mixer and I wouldn't trade it for an outdated mixer.

I made your fudge frosting with water yesterday and oh my goodness was it ever good!
I'm a chocolate cake lover, I must try your recipe, that cake looks so good, I got hungry watching you take that bite.
That's why I always use a sheet pan to cook everything on.
That cake looks amazing.
Love this receipe it sounds delicious 😋

I said'' Oh Tammy, it's running over!!!''
My mama always did a chocolate cake with Mayo or miracle whip in it , so good and moist!! ❤❤❤
I have heard lately lot of recipes you can get away with using it. But I have not tried it yet BUT WHAT TO!
My sons favorite cake. It just really a moist cake and I know unusual ingredient but must make. I have also had fudge with velveta cheese in I know didn’t taste it but a really creamy fudge.
@@lolliet1075 o wow interesting I have seen a recipe like that before it had cream cheese swirl in it.

It did for me too!!!
Where can
I find your cook books? Are they on a web site?
Yes collardvalleycooks.com
You crack me up, you're like the rest of us ,too much cake for the pan just proves you're human
Tammy, this looks amazing ❤

Is the glass bowl of the old fashioned mixer really microwavable?

Oh my that looks absolutely scrumptious! Not sure if I the willpower to not make make this and eat the whole dang thing 😂
I bet peanut butter added to that frosting would be fantastic❤
I could not believe my eyes when I saw your Sunbeam Mixmaster. My mother had one that was very similar looking with the end cap that told you what it does. She must have gotten it in 1950 when she was married. Love bringing back old memories!
Get one of those oven protector liners made to stay at bottom of your oven...you just pull it out & wash it off and put it back in the bottom of your oven. No more messy stove cleaning! 😉
Many modern ovens can't take oven liners. The hidden bake elements can make the oven bottoms hot enough to fuse the liner to the enamel.
Tammy, I will have to try to make this for my husband's birthday next year. Chocolate cake is his favorite cake! Thank you!!
Oh my goodness, that cake looks scrumptious!! Your daughter will surely appreciate her homemade birthday cake…..😋

Hello,
What is the bake time for the cake ? Thanks
The pdf for the recipe is linked in the description for you
Hey Tammy, this chocolate sheet cake look moist and delicious 😋. 👍🏾🙏🏽🥰 I will try it.
Your cake turned out beautiful. Looks like one you’d buy from a fancy bakery. So pretty and also looks so moist and delicious. Thank you Tammy.❤️✝️🤟
My Mom and Dad would have loved this .

Yes just google how to make SR flour then adjust your recipe
Thanks!
My mom has that mixer. Never saw her use it. It was a wedding gift. My mom doesn’t cook much, let alone bake…lol
My mama only used her Sunbeam mixer. Not fancy like now but did a great job. I still have the bowls from hers.
Oh goodness, that looks good! I think you mentioned it's Mae's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAE! 🎂
It's your hand, some people have the gift of making more food even if they use the right measurements 😊😊😊 and that is so sweet
I would like to make several smaller cakes instead of the large cake. If I did 8X8 cakes, would I need to change the baking time. Thanks!
I will only say the temp can be 350 and bake until done

What if I don't have powdered sugar?
What can I substitute for that
There is no substitute
Looks delicious 😋 I love seeing the fur babies in the kitchen
I'm not a huge coffee drinker anymore. Is it okay to use instant coffee for this recipe, or should I go ahead and brew a small pot?
Sure use instant
WOW! What an awesome frosting recipe!!!🤗
It’s my granddaughters birthday tomorrow. Gonna make this. Fudgy chocolate is her favorite
That’s is a beautiful cake. You made it look gorgeous ❤

Tammy, you should always use a sheet pan under your cake pans to avoid overflowing. Thanks for the great recipe! That cake looks so yummy!
Best from-scratch recipe I have in for chocolate cake and chocolate frosting from the back of the Hershey's Coco Powder can.
Hi Tammy that looks so delicious 😋 😊❤❤
When making the frosting, I’m sure you didn’t have the beaters in correctly!! I have this exact mixer!! 🤷♀️
Forgot to say that’s why the bowl was wiggling!!
❤❤❤❤❤oh my goodness ❤❤❤❤❤ I love your cakes they are so darn delicious I just can't stand it lol..... you are the best Tammy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Chocolate cake!!! I won't be late!!! I'll bet it went fast!!! Tonya ❤
Yummy 😋😋😋 I must make this cake, I'm a chocolate cake lover too
That was my first mixer 43 years ago. With a glass bowl. Used it for all my baking until I got my kitchen aid. ❤
This is exactly how my grandmother make hers. So yummy ☺️
Hi Tammy. I love your recipe for this chocolate cake, with your frosting. It's so amazing with your ingredients for your frosting. This is going to be great on my Thanksgiving table. Do you have the sheet pan on your website? It’s pretty with your sheet cake. Thanks.
Yes on collardvalleycooks.com
I just ordered. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip to turn down the oven to 325. I’ve had problems in the past of the center not cooking. Even though I test it with a toothpick. How much time would you add to cooking? O
Thanks Tammy. Will be making this.
Tammy , I just love to watch you do all kinds of Bakeing & cooking your so much fun injoye watsh love chocolate cake so much , have fun with your daughter today ❤😂🎉god bless 🙏😇❣️✝️ 8:13
So can one not use all purpose flour?
Yes you can! Add baking powder and salt.
Even if your using self rising flour you still use salt butter
I was going to make a chocolate cake this week. Definitely am using your frosting with h2O recipe.
Why can’t I find this recipe even when using the link? I purchased a special pan to make the whole cake in the same pan. Please help.
Look on collardvalleycooks.com under cakes and icings
I was looking for the specific cake name and the icing name. You have quite a few chocolate recipes listed. @@CollardValleyCooks
I had to watch the video again to get the actual name of the recipe and frosting.
Was the Hersey Cocoa sweet or unsweet?
Oh bye the way I just subscribed to your channel last yr. I have tried some. And I love listening to your voice 😂😂😂 it has that twang to it
Which is a good thing😂😂
Unsweet
I really like your style in the kitchen. And I think it works well for big families where you don't have time to decorate and be picky, because you have to feed the people. The cake looks great and I'll try it as soon as I can.
This looks delicious!! I was wondering if i could use a bundt pan to bake this cake
Yes you can!
Oh my gosh Tammy that looks so good !!! I have big stoves like your new one. I hated that the cake ran over !!! I sent you a message last week about making your moms coconut cake. !!! Maybe before the holidays. Your kitchen looks great !!!!! Debbie. Az
You've probably heard this alot, but I love your new kitchen!👍 The mic helps so much too. Did you get a new camera too? Everything looks so crisp.
No I still use the phone
@@CollardValleyCooks Well your phone has a great camera. 👍
That cake looks so good divine i live hersheys cocoa recipes and tje frosting yummy can please make me one for my birthdays oct 29th ha
I like the old mixer cause the beaters are off set so you can add to your recipe easily
Your chocolate cake looks absolutely yummy!!
Thank you for this recipe! By the way, I keep a liner in the bottom of my oven to make cleaning from overflow so easy.
Do you need to put the coffee. I don’t drink coffee nor do I have any in the house.
Use water or milk
How long did you cook it for, please? I made one today, & it was done at 1 hr.
The written recipe is linked in the description for you. Cooking times will vary.
OMG!!!! Chocolate cake with chocolate icing is one of my top two loves for cakes! ❤❤❤
