- PBP 2023 is less than a year away! It's time to start thinking and planning, and in this video I touch a number of topics, from getting your pre-registration status finalized to finishing PBP in less than 57 hours!

WRT to the Charly Miller tips in the video, my observation is that the vast majority do not have support. I did not. I wish it were otherwise. I had planned to sleep 90 or so minutes the second night but it was so darned cold in Tinteniac and I was not tired, so I kept going. I stopped to eat three times in the cafeterias, once in a store, once in a bakery, and the rest was grab and go (baguettes with cheese, butter, and ham). Sub 24 hours on a flatter 600k or sub 30 hours on a hilly one like in Pennsylvania are probably reasonable tests. PBP is always faster due to riding in groups whereas a potential Charly Miller rider is probably riding that fast 600k solo. Anyway thought this might be helpful to someone and, very nice video as usual.
I will pay for a starting time of 90hours and can't see a point why I should not enjoy 90hours riding time. Would be wasted money if I go much faster :D
Great to see you back again Eric and sound advice as always. Haven't done a great deal of audaxing this year so need to seriously start getting my head around doing PBP again
I have no intention of ever riding those distances (well maybe a 300km) but I still enjoy your videos. 👍🙂 Glad you are well and still on the bike.
So you have Strava? I am in rancho cordova and would like to follow you
Regarding the excellent route marking signs, it is good to read the revised rules for 2023 from the ACP. Stealing one of those signs is a 2-hour penalty.
That’s a good point. In the past, they have had extras at the finish. I took a good photo of one and had it printed out to hang in my office at home.
My printed copy is right behind me here in my office/bike cave.
Any thoughts on renting a bike in Paris
If you're just riding around Paris, there are plenty of rent-by-hour bikes all over the city. If you're talking about renting a bike to do PBP, I think you're going to have a hard time finding anything (and it's probably not a good idea to do PBP on an unfamiliar bike anyway). If you really don't want to take a bike, you might be best off buying a bike and then leaving it there for someone to sell for you.
@@campyonlyguy thank you for your suggestion greatly appreciate 🙏🏻
