    A voice over is a huge help to explaining what’s going on, and how/why decisions go into the work. I personally don’t like when someone just works and doesn’t say anything.

      I get bored. Im thinking of starting a channel with no talking for the haters and people who just like asmr. Two birds on stone. But on this channel id rather talk it out. It helps create community as well.

    I'm with the crowd here, man. The knife is great, and we love your voiceover style. I wonder if you're feeling weird about the handle because it's a little long compared to the blade length. I'm no expert, and it's a beautiful piece of art, so I guess all I'm saying is "be encouraged."

    • @JPsBladeworks
      @JPsBladeworks  2 дні тому

      Nah, it's just that the handle feels like the handle is made too much for a chopper hold and not for a pinch grip hold. And i did that on purpose for aesthetics, but it feels out of place. I feel i should have gone with a smaller thinner handle. Looks cool anyways tho

    you advancement continues.

    • @JPsBladeworks
      @JPsBladeworks  5 днів тому +1

      Lol i appreciate the knowledge. The carbon migration is what helps blend those lines in and its done with heating the knife up and having the carbon migrate past the lines. The reason they are white is due to carbon loss when forging since those lines used to be the outside of the billet before being forge welded together.

    Nice save! Good practice for tiling, but when you end up doing mosaics, as I'm sure you know, you'll want to grind in the profile, not hammer it, as it will distort the pattern horribly.

    Personal opinion, but your voice fits you well, keep it in your videos, voice overs make videos feel more enjoyable.

      @@JPsBladeworks Seeing videos like yours, inspires me to take up metal working, I love the smell of hot metal, and the sounds of forging, It is and always was one of my passions to learn as I got older, Perhaps one day I shall learn how to forge as you do.

    You should crossgroove the tang to give greater structural integrity with its bond to the handle. 🤔

    I thought that the tiles were to be rotated before you welded them together. So that the cut sides were facing up. That might have given you a better pattern. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    So when you cut the 45 degree tiles.. it looks like you didn’t rotate the pieces to expose the end grain. Also the etch after the initial welding and grinding off the holder steel really doesn’t look like end grain.

      @@JPsBladeworksdid you turn the tiles to expose the end grain? In my experience doing a tile with a twist pattern doesn’t pan out like one would think.
