    Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos. You've helped me get the courage to take on boarding and skimming more or less my entire house. Done 3 rooms so far and although I didn't quite manage a pro finish, I'm very pleased with the results. Your vids are entertaining and the most informative I've found on UA-cam. Thanks so much.

    I put packers off centre to ensure the board falls against the previous one and closes the joint !👍little tip in return for the scrim tip (when you cut it to stop your fingers getting wrapped up lol)👍

    Another masterclass display Kirk. Simply love your vids! If I ever did this on my own house, I'd definitely use the dot method you showed in another vid, as I'd be panicking about adhesive going off when trying to straight it all up haha.
    I'm doing 6 nights for the next 2 weeks now as I'm covering as well as my own job, so lots of time to watch any upcoming vids. Especially if there's the fabled good vs bad fat video coming soon... I'll be on that like a cat on a kipper!
    Hope you feel better soon too buddy!"

    Marking an inch from the front of the packer is gold . I will use that because I think it will save time . If the board needs to go in it will always be the top with that method. It's easiest to tap in the top than the bottom.

    Very informative video! Few questions - do you need to PVA the brickwork before you apply the adhesive? I noticed the electrical cable didnt have any conduit over, I'm assuming applying adhesive straight onto the cable doesn't affect the cable in anyway? Is this also the case when putting adhesive over copper and plastic rad pipes when they have been chased into a wall? Cheers

    • @Onthetrowel
      @Onthetrowel  Рік тому +6

      No pva required unless your going over a painted wall.
      Adhesive isn't cement based so no it doesn't corrode but I'd still try to avoid getting it all over Central heating pipes as they slightly expand and contract whereas the Adhesive won't.
      Conduit for cables is probably good practice for the electrician to use but it's not my department so I'm not 100% sure...
      I asked the question a few years back and was told "you just worry about getting the wall flat".
      So I just leave them to it now

      @pilotstefan1322 Рік тому

      @@Onthetrowel thanks for the reply. When you've had jobs in the past to fill in where rad pipes have been chased do you find plumbers cover the pipe with any coverings or are they happy for you to fill in then skim over the naked pipes? Also, ive searched all over youtube for a video of filling in where rad pipes have been chased in and there are next to none, it would make an excellant future vid for the channel if you run out of ideas 😉

      It's fine to dab straight over twin and earth, no need to put any conduit or capping. The grey sheathing you see is a flexible conduit, inside it is insulated cable a brown and blue usually.
