Hi Kev. The green stuff is called plasterers grit. Some plasterers prefer this to PVA prior to plastering because our plasterer tells me that others believe that it affects the drying and working times of the plaster. It’s main reason is to seal the walls to give a better key for the plaster or bonding. Our plasterer uses PVA generally but we had this left from a previous job and with it being silly money we wanted to use it up and he didn’t mind us putting it on for the bonding out stage he then put PVA over the top of the new bonding prior to his top coat 👍🏻
Plasterers Grit is also a sensible option when renovating older properties where Distemper (paint)would more than likely of be used. Its about the only thing I have found that will allow a wall to skimmed without problems.
Complex build well executed
What is the purpose of the green undercoat that you applied under the bonding plaster?
