Hi Daniel & Katie, I wanted to do this dish for ages and finally I did tonight. It was an instant hit with the family. Thank you for all your hard work producing these videos and getting out the recipes out to us. And those podcasts! I’ve been listening to them on Spotify. Love, love your podcasts. Keep them coming! ❤
OMGGG I finally found the PERFECT Recipe!!! I made this using your recipe and it was PERFECT AND DELICIOUS!!! 😋🤤I can’t thank you enough! I can buy it here however for about 1Cup you pay $5.00, very expensive for a small amount! Thank you, sending blessings to you and your family!🙏🏼
Today I didn't come here for the recipe...came just bcz I was feeling sad and watching your channel..idk it's comfort like you are very friendly to all of us. If you read this, have a good day.
Future Neighbor, I made your fish cake recipe. I Love it. I'm eating as I'm typing. The local Korean restaurant doesn't have anything close to your fish cakes. They serve fish cakes as a side dish but there is very little sauce and nothing else with them. The first time eating there I had no clue what they were. They serve mashed potatoes with vegetables, kimchi, fish cakes, pickles and bean sprouts with the food. I have your recipe written down and will make the fish cakes often. Thank You !!!
Could only find frozen eomuk/odeng from my store. Can I blanch the frozen fish cake directly, or do I need to let them thaw first? (I know, it sounds like a really dumb question 😅😂🙃)
Eomuk was the gateway side dish I introduced to my kids to more "exotic" banchan. They're still not into the spicy stuff even as adults but this one they keep asking for refills🤣 One package doesn't even last a week.
"I think your hair is in mood with your food." My mom would've replied, "You're a poet and didn't know it!" ("Poet" and "know it" rhyme in English when spoken quickly.) I don't know why that popped into my mind just then, Katie, but it did bring back happy memories of sharing food in the kitchen long ago with my mom. And chopstick skills? That gochugaru would be helping decorate my plain walls. Hahaha!
Eomuk looks so good !!! You make me hungry. The rolled omelet looks equally good. Next time I make it to the local Korean Market, I'm getting some fish cakes and trying this recipe. Thank You!
I just learned that odeng is also called eomuk! The last time I went to the Korean store I looked for odeng and was so confused at what eomuk was. And then this recipe pops up! I had to call my mom and ask. She said they were the same but actually had no clue on the origin of the two words! I did some googling this morning and found out that odeng comes from Japanese 'oden.' I also found your odeng banchan recipe. Going to the store today to get the ingredients for these dishes 😊
I’ve had fish cakes sitting in my freezer for a while but I’m not familiar with Korean food/recipes so I didn’t know what to do with it. I’m gonna try this out!
Awesome! Needed another Fish Cake recipe, and you delivered! 👏👏 Plus, it looks delicious and as an added bonus, seems very simple to make! Quick, delicious food! Can't beat that! 😊🙃😊 Thanks, you two! 🕊🌹🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💖
Thank you so much for your simple, easy and tasty recipe! i had tried many different ways from YTube videos but this is the best one so far. i learned that tasty food doesn’t mean needs a lots of ingredients, but how to marrying them together well.
The last bit just made me blow off the dust on my Tamagoyaki pan for tomorrow morning(I know you dont need one of those, i just like shaping the omelette).
This is such a great video, I bought fish cakes but once I cooked it , it had an overwhelming fishy smell which was too much for me but the blanching in boiling water for a few seconds tip really helped mellow it down and the flavor of the sauce also got absorbed better !! 10/10 ♥️🔥
It seems the only grocery store in the Greater Toronto Area, where I live, that has these fish cakes is T&T Supermarket. No other Asian market knows what I’m talking about when I ask for them 😔
Thank you for your channel!!! Im making the quick bulgogi and will let you know how it goes! Love this channel!!! It’s moms cooking with awesome instructions - gets me in the kitchen. Thank you!
Hey! I have a question, why take the oil if you are going to add more later? Does it improve the texture or something? I always try to make this at home, and its goood but it's never like my favourite korean restaurant
It's not a mandatory step - but the oil used on the fishcake (to keep it fresh) is not high quality. Better to wash it off, and then help it stir-fry with cooking oil.
Perfect timing. Just bought a pack of 1kg eomuk (coz that's the only size available) and I ran outta idea what to do with it.

Super video! I applauded for A$2.00 👏
H-Mart down the street makes this in their deli. Cheap and tasty! Can't get enough of this. Thanks for showing how you make it!
I used to get this at H-Mart too. I live too far away now, so I’ll have to try Daniel’s recipe 😍

Daniel: Ok let's blanch it to get rid of the oil
Also Daniel: Ok let's add some oil
😳 Strange huh? You get to choose which kind of oil you want. 🤣
I think what he did was to get rid off the old oil from the manufacturer that tasted stale some times.
That shiny fish cake in the pan.... yum!
Now you need to make another video on how to make those rolled eggs on a round pan with more detail
This is my favorite!!! I'm Mexican and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Korean Food!!!! The flavors, the taste, EVERRYYYTHING about it is so delicious!!
Eomuk is one of my favorite Korean things and Katie’s rolled omelet looks sooo good. I know what I’m making for dinner. 🎉🎉
Today I didn't come here for the recipe...came just bcz I was feeling sad and watching your channel..idk it's comfort like you are very friendly to all of us. If you read this, have a good day.

Yes they both mean the same thing, as you said odeng comes from the Japanese word oden, and eomuk is the Korean word :)
Made this in the morning and it tasted superb!!! My family love it so I had to make it again for dinner.
Feeling Katie 💯 when she says we have to eat now! 😋

Delicious 😋
I went to a korean supermarket yesterday but I completely forgot to pick this one up 😩 I really like it in deobukki
I love eomuk eventhough I only ate authentic eomuk once. Tasted like local fish cake with texture similar to fried tofu skin.
It seems the only grocery store in the Greater Toronto Area, where I live, that has these fish cakes is T&T Supermarket. No other Asian market knows what I’m talking about when I ask for them 😔

Dan-yul , how long can you store the fish cake in the refrigerator once you make it?
How could i not reply with an emoji like this it should last about 4-5 days :)
Hey! I have a question, why take the oil if you are going to add more later? Does it improve the texture or something? I always try to make this at home, and its goood but it's never like my favourite korean restaurant

can you add rice cakes in this mix or will it not taste good anymore?
If you store it in fridge, how many days can it last?
Hello! Can I use gochujang paste instead of gochugaru flakes?
Can I substitute gochujang instead of gochugaru?
Hair matching the food 🤣🤣
