What a relief to see you are back. Had me worried that I might not get to learn from you and all your wonderful recipes. Love you, please stay happy and healthy.
I was worried. Since you guys have been on break I've been trying different cuisines from youtube recipes, mostly chinese (all sorts) and thai. Recently made some bomb steak fajitas, but man.... nothing beats korean food for me. So glad you guys are back!! Take care, take it as slow as you'd like and stay healthy ♡♡
Glad to have you back! My mom was korean. Since she passed, I haven't felt close to my heritage because I'm not involved in any Korean communities. Your videos make me feel at home. I want all the food 😅
@Zenetta Lee So sorry that your mom has gone. I felt disconnected from my mom's native cuisine/ the foods of my childhood, too, when my mom passed when I was 33. (She was English. I am American.) I stopped making her food as it reminded me so much of her, and it was painful. But little by little I came back to it, and it has become comforting again. When you're ready, start slowly. I hope you slowly find peace and comfort.
Recently listened to your podcasts and I really enjoy it! The topics and discussions are relatable and really informative, especially hearing your advice and perspective. Don't tell anyone this, but I secretly wish my train gets delayed just to hear a few more minutes!
Impossible. No fish cakes, no dried fish. Not even fermented shrimp in jars, due to import regulations (protectionism). I'm surprised we can get fish sauce.
At an Asian supermarket I can usually find odeng/eomuk (as I understand those are basically the same) in the sheets or the “ears”, but it’s really inconsistent as to what shape I can get. About one out of six times I go looking it takes a week to find them. Spring onion and Korean radish or daikon radish honestly are *far* harder to find.
Hello! What brand of fishcake did you use? Yours look so easy to fold. When I made it I have to soak it first in boiling water. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you
I live in Bakersfield, California, two hours away from Los Angeles and luckily we have an Asian store in our town. Is not hard for me. Also, whenever we visit Los Angeles we just visit an Asian Supermarket and load up on deliciousness. 😃👍
Love your nutty humour and a completely new way of cooking and ingredients. Thank you. Plan to visit a local Korean/Japanese ingredient store tomorrow (that's a first!). Thank you - at times like these narrowing any cultural divide is SPECIAL. Best wishes.
Loving this fish cake soup! My sons love this so will try this since it is cold and it will be fun to eat them from the skewers! Thanks- luv ya guys! ❤️
Welcome back i missed you guys from past days i seeing all the videos that you guys had did..... I even tried alot of dishes by seeing your videos. Thank you so much 💓💓💓 saranghaeyo 💜💜💜
I know you have access to quality fish cakes but here in Michigan I rely on making my own. Fortunately I can fish and really make it fresh and still add shrimp and squid
@@AkaniTV thanks for the reply! I didn’t know if they had a strong fish taste or it was more like those crab sticks that don’t taste of much, now I’ll have to buy some to try!
@CRodHer Fishcakes are quite bland, actually, with a very light fish flavor in the background. They are used as a garnish in most dishes, imparting very little flavor. This is a different dish entirely as they are the star. I don't find them "fishy" at all, though I remember being worried about that at one time, too. Dan-yul is constantly talking in their videos about bad smells. I love him and Katie, but I think Dan-yul may have some sort of disorder when it comes to smells! 😉🤣😃
I'm happy to see you both but also sad because there are no fish cakes here! I'm told they're not available due to rank protectionism 😭so all I can do is watch and dream.
Oh thank God!!! I was truly worried about y'all. Slow and steady we go. Time to shop for fish cakes. I don't know why I said "y'all". I'm from the Caribbean, we don't speak like that LOL.
I made the broth exactly like you, but it tastes nothing like eomuk soup and i'm freaking out since it's not for me. I did 2 tbsp of mirin, soy sauce, korean anchovy sauce, 1 tbsp of garlic. What went wrong?
You guys were gone for so long I had to check your insta to make sure all was well 😭. We're the only ones that missed you. You guys were just having fun snowboarding and stuff while we were here craving korean food we can't eat 😭😭
What a relief to see you are back. Had me worried that I might not get to learn from you and all your wonderful recipes. Love you, please stay happy and healthy.
Chilling is underrated! We all should do more of it. Glad to see you both back!
immaculate vibes
Welcome back Daniel & Katie! I’m glad you guys are both doing well ❤️ Can’t wait for new video uploads 🥰
Slow and steady wins the race 🤩🤩🤩
I laughed so hard at 1:27 "Katie no one sounds like that, that sounds like someone..."

Katie’s sniff at the end! That is when you know the food is good! Good food will have you sacrificing camera etiquette and that is… a great sign! 😂❤️
Welcome back! ❤️
Great video as always and welcome back!
Yay you’re back! Love seeing you guys ^^

Is it hard to find eomuk (or fishcakes) in your country? 🍢 🍡

Hi Daniel, I bought that rectangle fish cake and it was frozen, and I defrost it and use some of it, so how do I store the rest of it?
Yummy 😋 thanks
I’m going to make some 😋
oh god that looks delicious
Subscribed because you like my favourite anime !!
I know you have access to quality fish cakes but here in Michigan I rely on making my own. Fortunately I can fish and really make it fresh and still add shrimp and squid
So good to see you guys! You both look amazing, Katie you look so cute. Dumb question, does fish cake taste very fishy?
I wouldn’t say it’s overly fishy tasting! It’s so good, wish it was easier to find near me 😭
@@AkaniTV thanks for the reply! I didn’t know if they had a strong fish taste or it was more like those crab sticks that don’t taste of much, now I’ll have to buy some to try!

Welcome back! Do you have a favorite brand of 어묵? There are so many and I never know what to choose.
I want to eat this so bad 😮😩 too bad there is no Asian markets near me 😢
I'm happy to see you both but also sad because there are no fish cakes here! I'm told they're not available due to rank protectionism 😭so all I can do is watch and dream.
Would the 3 crab brand Vietnamese fish sauce work too?

I have always wondered, what is the meaning of your name? Sorry if it’s been asked a lot before
Yes guys are back too late

At long last Daniel/Katie, been worrying if you 2 might accidentally dropped off at N.Korea 🤣
😐 That's not funny
