Today, we're showing you how to make Spicy Korean Tofu Jjaeguli! We'll be using fresh slices of tofu, then braising it with sliced potatoes and spam (optional). The resulting flavor is unbelievable - something your family will love, especially if they like Korean spice! Pair this with a bowl of rice - and you'll have yourself an amazing meal. Add a Fried Egg on the side - even better ;-)

“It’s just that people don’t know how to cook with tofu” so true!!! People in the west say that tofu is gross but they’ve never had it cooked properly!
So true I use to be one of them...I keep trying different tofu cooked in western style foods...didn't like it. I think the flavors need to be strong in order to soak into the tofu. So finally when tried it at Chipotle it was marinated very well so got me trying marinated tofu. ....now am addicted to tofu and help me to cut down on many animal products. I even fell in love with just plain fried tofu...I guess just need to find the right texture and seasonings till you become a costume to new food.
@@imjogijogi9267 same!! The first time I had it, the person had legit just roasted a block of it in the oven plain. It was obviously gross.😂 I’m so glad I gave it another chance because now I know how delicious it can be.

@@bubbles2836 I only used half of the tofu, so it gave me around 9-10 slices, with the little veggies, and some meat. It served and satisfied 6 people.
So the whole tofu with around 18-20 slices like in the video (depending on how thick) would probably satisfy 15-20 heads for one round -- and 6-10 head for 2-3 rounds. :)
Daniel, I used the leftover juice from my oisobagi instead of the sauce and used tuna and broccoli instead of the spam and potatoes, and it's now my favorite dish. Everything complimented the tofu wonderfully, and I strongly recommend everyone to try it! It was so quick and easy too.

Thank you so much for this excellent recipe!! I didn't have any peppers or potatoes so omitted both. I am a pescaterian so I used canned Tuna and left out Spam . Just made it and wolfed it down voraciously.

I wish u added the 1 cup water in the sauce..gave it a gud mix and then poured over the pan arrangement.. so tat the marinade got well infused into the pan content..!

I make something similar to this (dubu jorim) and I serve it with a side of plain braised spinach to make it healthier and to help blunt the spicy/sweet flavor of the tofu somewhat.

Is that a Global Classic 7” Nakiri/Vegetable knife? Pretty cool I love the stainless handles on those. I just bought a Zwilling copycat of the same knife, Twin Fin II Nakiri. You should do a video on knife sharpening assuming you do it with a stone. Your videos always make everything look easy especially with your relaxing style.

Mmm! I'm not a spicy fan so a little hesitant adding the chili pepper. Were the spring onions cooked enough since you added them at the end? Just seemed like they didn't get enough time to mingle with their pan friends lol but looks like another recipe for the books! Yum!

Does gochujang need to be refrigerated, or is it shelf- stable since it's fermented? I've been putting mine in the fridge, but it gets kinda hard in there.
