I'm a qualified driver for this route and I'm very impressed. A lot of the stuff is in correct place as it in real life.
I am interested in starting out driving trains. At what age and where did you start your career ?
Do you drive class 166's or class 43/azumas
ocean army Azumas belong to LNER, this route is operated by GWR 😃
@@qlucas5510 I ment to say class 800's or class 801's what ever thay are called
verified_username - Flight Sim Content and more they have Azumas in GWR
If you don't like the motion blur they are going to add an option to turn it off independently. Until then do the following.
Navigate to: Documents\My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Open Engine.ini in your favourite text editor
Add these two lines to the bottom:
[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=False
Save the file.
Now, when you load the game, motion blur is disabled completely
Can Squirrel star this or pin it to the top! Great advice. Thank you, this is what makes the community special
I still can’t see a way to do this on PS4, I really hate the motion blur.
You said you see the passengers jostle off each other, at least that's realistic commuting in London. Kappa :)
AaronLTA and it expects British trains to be on time
Robert Crawshaw They do, however you have to realise that the capital city is always the one with the most money put into it. This is because they need to promote jobs and encourage firms to operate from London. This causes positive economic growth for the country. As with railways, the trains in Yorkshire are no worse than London. That’s why all trains for Britain used to be built in York. Also, while the largest county, it has half as many people than Greater London meaning that there needs to be much greater infrastructure to support the high population density.

"This train is a semi stopping service..."
Ok.
"...to Slough."
Get the petrol, I'm burning this filthy train.
Aurie um, ok what the hell are you talking about
The track change at last station ( Slough ) is actually mentioned in the signal by those white lights. Good Video Bud. :v Happy Driving.
I live local to the route; I use it all the time and I can tell you that this is very realistic in terms of buildings, etc. All the stations and the route look so much like real life.
I used to travel this line to Bath VERY frequently and I can tell you that this is beautiful and very accurate.
Finally bought the TSW bundle on steam yesterday - will be giving it more of a go tonight. Very impressed with all of the improvements over the previous platform.
16:07 that's signal SN109... always sends a chill down my spine
Why?
South hall 🤔
Paddington rail crash
I fell in love with the game the first 5 seconds.
Aws was set to off by default. You must activate it via the fuse panel on this unit, or the dash switches on the hst
I love this... memories of my first visit to England came to mind when I rode the train to my (now ex-)girlfriend from Doncaster (where I landed with my plane at the airport) to Sheffield. I just hope the Dutch railway circuit gets implemented someday. Groningen to Schiphol, which goes by most major trainstations in the country.
LogiForce86 I live in Doncaster!
Apart from the topics covered in the video, the only thing I found irritating was that it gave a three aspect signal indication when four aspects are in use. The icons top right for approaching signals need to replicate the correct aspect the signal is displaying, so if the signal is set to double yellow, then two yellow circles should be displayed - The indication could be horizontal if space is limiting and the size of the indicators are to remain the same.
Thanks so much. Love the videos. Just purchased TSM:CSX Heavy Haul, and this will be next. I do miss the deer jumping across the track in MS Train Sim...
I'm not a big fan of trains, but seeing a game with this awesome graphics and detail plus a clear tutorial makes me want to really get into train simulation.
I wish if there's a truck sim game with this kind of freedom and graphics 😍😍
Pretty darn good, although my only gripe is the complete absence of Tube trains which would be at Ealing Broadway and also parallel to the rails out of Paddington.
Great Video, Looks Very Realistic to the real thing with the buildings and bridges.
You need to manualy toggle AWS on it is defualtly isloated
Didn't spot that. There's no manual or guide to look at either, at least not in the pre-release version.
You can only do 40mph if the AWS is isolated 😋 if you want realism (I'm a driver)
Oh and it is ctrl+num enter
Actually, the one switch behind the drivers seat if pressed twice, activates the AWS
You can turn it on by pressing Shift and Enter.
I just went from Paddington to Oxford on the HST, and this is an AWESOME recreation. I really like where dovetail is going with these
Looks really good. Most assets and locations there are accurately modeled. Couple of things like the Ealing Broadway exit and the car park to the left of Paddington (as you're leaving) are wrong but those are just nit-picks. They've done an excellent job here and I can't wait for my student loan to come in so I can pick it up. XD
because that's what student loans are for
Alex 😂😂😂
Btw right now it's in steam store for 18 quid deal ends monday
Oh it looks so good. They've made a platform to expand on hopefully
Wow i am gobsmacked/amazed at the quality of this, it is so realistic, i hope other scenarios from other main lines/branch lines will be added in the future, going to deffinately get this i love it
i almost forgot, big thankyou to Squirrel for showing this
I worked beside paddington, and ealing broadway, in my years gone by, and it certainly looks very good.
That big building, at ealing broadway, used to be a bbc building, and it certainly looked like i remember, when i worked there.
The graphics look amazing.
It certainly does look like, when you leave paddington, and when you come into ealing broadway.
Very nice graphics.
Amazing, one day, these game designers, may eventually model the whole world.
Calm down on the commas.
Damn, the detail for the Slough station is really good. I'm from Slough use the station to go to London Paddington for work and the station does look like that. They've even got the bus station to the left outside of the station!
looks spot on the ealing and ealing Broadway stations i lived there for 27 years spot on going to have to get this game
I don't know much about UK trains, but it looks good to me. Obviously way better than TS. And I think the future possibilities are great. btw... Depends on the system but many times they spot cars IRL by having signs that correspond to the number of cars. So if you have 4 cars, you stop at the #4 sign... 5 cars, stop at the #5, and so on.
I dont care what people say, i think it looks great!
Not the graphics are the problem. Ark is also looking superb, but it runs like crap if you don't have a Ryzen 7 with a GTX1080Ti. That's Unreal Engine 4 for you. I hate it.
SylverRaptor it's the developers not the engine... I'm sure someone else would chew you out for this :)
SylverRaptor really? I have a gtx 960m and it runs fine
That way the train moves in the game makes you feel like your actually moving forward even if your watching from UA-cam it rlly makes it look like your actually moving forward I like this part of train sim world
I was a signalman on the paddington desk, and I can tell you this sim is pretty dam accurate, I've been a pilot-man in the cab of a 166 a 43 and a class 66 and I sign all the routes from Padd to Didcot
The scenery and stations are very accurate here. They are redoing a lot of these stations for Crossrail though so they'll probably have to update this game at some point.
they my leave it be cause of the senraio is released
DTG has stated that the route is set in august 2017 which is when they surveyed to route, besides have DTG updated the GEML for crossrail in TS17? no because there is not point in doing it.
I used to commute from Hanwell to Paddington every day. Amazing graphics and very realistic imo.
The after the station after Ealing Broadway (called West Ealing), the houses on the left you should be looking at the backs of them, not the fronts. A late girlfriend of mine used to live in one of those houses.
Great video and a stunning piece of work by Dovetail Games! Great locations in this DLC - I live near Iver and I can testify that Iver, West Drayton, Slough and Paddington stations and local areas are amazingly accurate. Sure they have a few bugs and graphical glitches to sort out but really the TSW platform is a great start and I can only imagine the 3PD''s are chomping at the bit to release content for this game.
One thing I've noticed that sets this over Train Sim graphically ( and it's subtle), when you were in the exterior view coming up to that 1st Red, you can make out the carriages actually move diferently from each otheras if they actually are seperate entities. The coaches in Train sim don't bump and grind in a way that you see to an extreme level in the Tube system. As I say, subtle but it makes a difference.
Thanks for the informative review! I'm looking forward to more videos on this DLC.
OMG, FINALLY these train sim games are coming graphically and feature-full to more modern standards.
22:42 Southern Rail should take note.
Great video! :D
I haven't watched squirrel in 2 years and I come back to this great work squirrel keep it up
Squirrel.
To stick your head out of the window, you can use the arrow keys.
Camera 1 is first person - in the cab.
Camera 2 is a boom camera. Press it twice and you get to the rear of the train.
Camera 3 is a move around with the train camera thing. Press 3 twice to jump to the back of the train.
Camera 8 is a free roam. Similar to Cam 3, but your not moving with the train.
Camera 9 is the map.
"It wasn't perfect but it wasn't bad Iver" Seen what you did Paul :P
I agree with you Squirrel, that motion blur makes my eyes hurt.
Its improved since
I was so waiting for this yes!!!
I know this is an old video however the yellow signals coming out of Paddington make complete sense as it is a very busy station with many trains coming in and out so you should be vigilant and be able to set your speed appropriately to then see almost all greens on the way out. I assume it's similar with King's Cross, Waterloo, etc as I've only arrived into those stations maybe once or twice on a big commute.
southall station... perfectly done!!!
This is a fantastic interpretation of the Great Western Mainline
I think, at least from watching the stream last night, that by default, the AWS is in isolation whenever you load up a train. They did that to help out new players. You have to turn it on every time if you want it. I'm not sure of the key combination but there should be a switch somewhere in the cab to turn it on.
a cool future would be to have train spotters on some of the platforms
To my eyes that game looks amazing. Too amazing for me, as it seems way to clean for a predominately diesel line. But I've never been down south so I dont know of the lines are kept differently than up ere in Lancashire
I have been on the 166 before and what I saw is HIGHLY ACCURATE to this
Good job dovetail
Yes my town is on the list lol haha so happy haha
+Squirrel AWS can be turned on, along with TPWS and DSD (all fun stuff if you like realism ;). In the 166 the switches are around the fusebox behind the driver's seat, on the HST they're on the far right side of the cab
The line speed may be 35 out of Paddington, but the rules are 15 out of any bay platform(platform with buffer stops). Once rear is clear of the platform, linespeed applies. Thought ya might like to know.
After working with FGW as a customer host out of Worcester Shrub Hill on the class 43 buffet car and 1st class trolleys, i can say the scenery brings back memories and even feels like im back there.
However they seem to have done everything a bit too bold to paddington station as its a bit darker in the surrounding areas and (obviously) the station, it would be nice to see if they incorporated the blue lighting to the front of the canopy roof as the set approaches at night.
that guy drifting in the begining cracked me up a bit
I have to say squirrel best introduction to train Sim world I give two thumbs up
Wow, it actually makes Auran's Trainz look flipping lazily made. This is awesome.
I've been in and out of paddington tons of times and it does look really realistic the graphics r so goddddddd
Did you notice that the overhead lines in some places were under construction and less complete as you left Paddington? Cool!
The scenery and stations are ridiculously accurate especially for my local station!
100% thought it was real life the first second, very nice job Paul, have a great day!
I think they should stop putting the next signal status and just put the distance to the next signal. By this way, it feels more authentic. Seeing a double yellow and slowing down from 100 miles only to see the next signal is also a double yellow and having a rage fit for losing points for timeliness.
Want to say thanks for your gameplay video of this game made me very interested in this title so I went and bought it and really enjoy it 👍keep the videos coming
This is the route I use to get into London. While I can't say for sure that every building is spot on. They seem about as close as you could get. I would say the actual route is a little bit less well maintained than the game represents. There's a few weeds at the edge of the track and some of the rails are a bit rusty. But overall it looks pretty spot-on. :)
The light buttons you were touching at the beginning of the video turn on and off the lights in the passenger area. Those buttons actually work.
Looks like a model railway because it is so pristine, there are no 'wear and tear' marks to show prolonged use of the line, it is as if it has just been built.
I go out of Paddington very regularly, its very realistic however the seat moquette is different in the actual GWR Class 166 train old and new
This looks awesome would love to see more
Would be nice to see the Netherlands represented in one of the DLC packs. A very bussy railroad system with nice variation in scenary. Would be interesting to see that. We get to see the same tracks and settings over and over in the train sim games, would be nice to see some other countries getting some love too. Japan comes to mind as well, or driving the TGV in France, etc.
That gwr goes to Swansea stopping at Cardiff, newport, bridal, reading and more endings up in London
Re: passengers, apparently they do all have a definite destination, following a particular path. They will not just despawn.
it would be cool when you turn the lights on you could see it from outside too
Just waiting for the day we get an expansion to Heathrow.
We get it👍
Depending on my mood, sometimes I get the overground to Paddington on my way to work or the district line from the Broadway, graphics looked good - however the real Ealing Broadway is not that clean! and usually you have about 20,000 people jumping over each other to get on the train! accuracy wise... the buildings on the left coming into Ealing were wrong, the buildings are more packed together along the Uxbridge road. further down the line, the landmarks are accurate, but all the other buildings and layouts are not.
I like to compliment you in regards to sim games.... I think you are one of the best reviewing and playing these type of games.... I always use your game play on my decision on buying the game or not.... I always get a pretty good idea about the game and what to expect..
As far as I know, Unreal Engine should be able to run post processing with motion blur separately disabled
Athe departure from Paddington is very realistic with textures, houses and lights
Guard buzzer is only pressed twice when starting the train. Have a google of uk buzzer rules. A few interesting things.
In terms of the realism of the departure from Paddington, it looks fairly accurate to be fair as I remember it.
I have already seen the HST external view bug on PTGRail: I hope that they iron it out before release.
I recently watched a war documentary, where they talked about the german train system in world war 2. And I just thought that it would be an interesting idea, to maybe have a DLC where you make train supply runs for the germans, with tanks, troops or even Hitlers private train.
This looks so cool.. can't wait to get my hands on it 😀
18:29 The entire run of catenaries are just floating in the air?!
It’s magic!
Certainly looks like a great sim! Maybe it will finally get me into a train sim. One annoying thing is how the sleepers and the fasteners are drawn in that small radius in front of the train. Looks a bit strange to see them getting updated constantly as you are driving along. Maybe it doesn't look so bad when you are playing, maybe it is something with UA-cam who knows
The buildings are spot on!
The texture glitches are affecting the HSTs at the moment. They only seem to happen when they are being passed at speed.
Theres a panel behind the drivers seat of the 166 with switches. One of those switches turns on AWS.
I preorded this and got it on release date and will say I have all the same glitches you experienced. This DLC changed the original Heavy Haul performance as well. The load times are a lot faster but it occasionally crashes when loading. The post process has changed as well. Lighting seems right for Great Western but washed out for US Trains. The CSX line doesn't look as nice anymore. Also the CSX engines now respond differently. They now speed up and slow down way too fast and smooth. Frame rates are overall better throughout the sim. So its a mix of some really great and not so great. This is not just DLC in the sense of being an addon but an overall game upgrade in that it changes the dynamics. There are also some tweaks to the menus and user interface.
You have to turn on the AWS in settings. They made it this way so beginners' trains wouldn't stop for seemingly no reason
Would be interesting to see passengers switch onto other platforms to catch connecting services... That would be cool.
Wasn't longer routes one of the selling points of TSW? On Railworks, I got London to Bristol. Plus Bristol to Exeter. Plus Bristol to Cardiff. Plus some local line out of Bristol. Plus Reading to Oxford. All in one single route. What we got here? London to Reading, oh well...
The graphics look great, a huge improvement over the old game. I just wish I had a good enough computer to run it... (this of course means my opinions are just based on what I've seen here and on Dovetail's stream - maybe they'll change if/when I'm able to play this).
I really like the "services" concept, I agree that the timetable makes things seem a lot more realistic and there is so much more choice compared to just having scenarios. While the route is shorter than what has been done for previous simulators it's clear that a lot of work went into building it and there appears still be a reasonable amount of variety of services so I wouldn't be too disappointed. I'm quite familiar with the London end of the route (though I don't travel on it that regularly) and overall the stations, track layout and scenery look very accurate - the only thing I've noticed is that the footbridge at the west end of Ealing Broadway isn't quite right.
I am curious as to why they chose the class 166 variant of the Turbo over the 165, which are more numerous with some units also only having two coaches. From what I've seen in these videos nearly all of the sim's services operated by 166s are formed of a single 3-car unit with only a handful being 6-car, possibly because the 166 fleet is only just large enough to work the game's timetable (feel free to correct me if there are more 6-car services in-game). In reality they can be anything from 2 up to 6, so I'd say that the class 165 would have allowed for more variety in train length (therefore also in stopping positions at platforms) and possibly more coupling and uncoupling of units too.
That looks fantastic thanks for showing this
Wow the modelling of Langley and Slough are pretty much Bob On! Can't wait to see how far they can push this Sim :)
Would like to see some 'tags' or 'throw-ups' or even a piece on the outside of the train.
Almost photorealistic!... I defo have to get a PC now. Squirrel, DTG should do a scenario into Liverpool St station!
Yeah... credit where it's due, they've modelled the outside quite well, I always fly past on the InterCity, but I can recognise the areas and the buildings in game. But it's not half as clean as they put it to be, along the line, especially when coming into Paddington there are a fair few abandoned and vandalised buildings which didn't appear. And like HELL is Paddington that clean!
Also, GWR has like 2 actual green liveried HST's, the rest are in First Great Western.
Train Sim World is very detailed and it will help you when you drive on the GWR line
After csx hh I was determined not to buy this but I'm glad I did, it's truly awesome.
Csx hh has been vastly improved with the new patch as well, happy days.
Great vid btw :)
The route looks very similar to the real thing with some minor differences in depots and yards. And the road you conned for having no traffic doesn't really have any cars on it anyway at least when I go past it.
I think the motion blur is brilliant and wouldn't want to turn it off, but of course adding more options never hurts.
Nice to see reading in the game. As I live there it's cool
