    That bullet at 21:17 is a cleaner bullet with plug that was wormed out FYI

      I just went back & checked, and there aren’t any screw marks on the top, just the indentation from the ramrod

      I guess UA-cam won’t let me add photos to the comment section, but I was going to send a pic of the top of two Williams cleaners that had been extracted by a screw. The screw does a lot of damage to the bullet when it tears into it.

      Civil war relics were always just a bucket list dream for me. Many years ago I was metal detecting in Idaho with a pick axe 😂. More important than living in the South, is doing the research to figure out where the troops camped & marched through. What part of the country do you live George?

      @NcDirtHunter  Місяць тому

      Hi Matt, thanks for watching 👌. Pretty much all property is gonna be owned by a government entity (federal, state or local), or it’s owned privately. For the most part, you’re not allowed to metal detect these civil war locations owned by the government. All of my permissions are on private property. Because I record my detecting, I promise the landowners that I won’t disclose the their location. I’d encourage everyone to research their area, and knock on doors. Before you know it, you’ll have some great spots to detect.
      I’ve got a video on my channel called “How to get more permissions”. In it, I talk about what’s worked for me in (and what hasn’t). Good luck my friend! 👍

    • @NcDirtHunter
      @NcDirtHunter  4 місяці тому +1

      I use All Terrain General, recovery speed at 4, 2-region all tones, and always in Multi frequency. I toggle my discrimination on and off depending on where I’m detecting, but it’s usually off when I’m looking for CW relics. I keep my sensitivity up a bit high. It creates a lot more chatter, but I’m used to it, and I can find deeper targets. Yesterday, I detected a bullet under a fallen tree, and about 8 inches down in the ground. I thought that was pretty cool. Was there a reason besides the price difference that you didn’t go with the Manticore?

      @@NcDirtHunter Thank you for the reply. New to hobby late last year. Bought vanquish and I knew immediately that I wanted to upgrade. It wasn’t the money as much as it was my lack of product knowledge .

    • @NcDirtHunter
      @NcDirtHunter  4 місяці тому +1

      @@jimrichter3487 in my humble opinion, the 900 didn’t seem like much of a jump for the Equinox series when you have the Manticore out there. The 2-D screen on the Manticore makes it the best machine on the market. You not only have the VDI numbers like every other machine, but you can actually see your target on the 2D screen. It’s almost like ground penetrating radar. No other machine can do that besides the earlier CTX3030 (which I used before the Manticore).
      At any rate, no matter what machine you have, the key is to know it backwards and forwards. Know it well, and it’ll be an extension of your body.

      @NcDirtHunter I have lots of artillery shells fragments from Antietam, The Roulette farm and Above Burnsidge Bridge etc. My Dad had permission at great places in Sharpsburg, I was 10 or 11, he and my brothers detected and I went along. Just learning and studying that area of the battles in Western MD. This was in the early 70's and I remember it like it was yesterday. I would document and clean the relics and keep a key for all the relics like buttons,brass well everything! Dates, what was found, how much was found and if anything special was detected.

      @@C.M.R.Artifacts-qu1ey I can’t even imagine that 😳. I’ve heard stories about back in the 70’s where people would find amazing relics. Some laying on the ground 🤯. Does your family still have those artifacts?

      @NcDirtHunter We detected during the mid 70's. At The Sunken Lane we only ever found one Confederate Solid shot. My brother Daniel found it along with 8 dropped 58cal. 3 ringers in the same hole. Two still had powder in the base. The owner Mr. Miller found a Parrot shell I believe at the base of the stone wall behind the barn. He never showed it to us but told us about it. We never bothered him about detecting around the house and out buildings. We always showed much respect for his property and for him. I got all kinds of pictures of us and talking to him by his tractor, We would always stop and talk to him before going. My dad made sure of that. I know a real interesting fact about the barn, he showed us, I saw it with my own two eyes. I won't go into it now, comment is to long as it is most likely.
