Stevie: aight let's have the trumpets play the intro but don't scream or anything CB: yeah imma play it an octave higher on an instrument that's supposed to play an octave lower
Chris, seeing you grow as a musician, writer, producer, trombonist, etc. over the years has been amazing. You’ve grown so much from your days of playing fireflies, penny lane, happy, blurred lines. This is one of the best things you’ve put out. Extremely proud of you and the effort you put into your work. Keep Grinding.
The high notes themselves are impressive yes, but what really blows my mind is the control. Playing up in the stratosphere like that while being in time with good tone and articulation is absolutely insane.
Right? 😂 I was smiling so hard right there. As a trombone player, that's like your eyeballs puffing out and the ridiculous "I'm going to hit this" face.
I used to play an old tenor 'bone in a local brass group about mumblety years ago, and Sir Duke was one of our party pieces. Needless to say, I wasn't able to kick it out anything approaching this standard. I'd have probably put myself in hospital if I'd tried to do a 1:41. Always loved the end few bars though, great opportunity to raz it up and go to town.
Wow, Christopher, so clean, and such a good flare for improvisation!. 4 key changes at the end were absolutely tasty (5 if you count the stinger!!). Thanks for this.
Wow we played this in my jazz band last year but when i hear you play it, it amazes me and motivates me to be better and better. Love all the videos, keep up the great work!!!
What a nice surprise to see my name on your new outro page :-) Has it already been more than 3 years? I'm happy to see it has helped and you still enjoy what you're doing. Greetings from Switzerland

Hey Christopher Bill!
I love when you do these classic R&B throwbacks. Your rendition of Sir Duke is, by and far, the best.
Trombone screaming. Love it. Especially since I'm a trumpet player.
I'm a trombone player
As a trombone player it’s super fun when you finally work the chops to do it
The high notes themselves are impressive yes, but what really blows my mind is the control. Playing up in the stratosphere like that while being in time with good tone and articulation is absolutely insane.
Holy crap 1:41
Lmao
RIGHT
that was crazy
I’ve never done a double take so fast
I believe that’s an F#6... two octaves above middle F#...
I'm a 58 year-old musician and I want you to know you're absolutely amazing
can we just take a moment to appreciate 1:40
Right? 😂 I was smiling so hard right there. As a trombone player, that's like your eyeballs puffing out and the ridiculous "I'm going to hit this" face.

This. This is the video that inspired me to learn trombone and made me fall in love with this song and the instrument.
Is that a flute you're playing there, mate? Jesus, you will never stop impressing me with your range! Brilliant!
