    You’re the sole reason I’m comfortable with trying new products and am perfecting my wash and gos. Maybe “perfecting” isn’t the best word. Practicing. I’m practicing 😂

    Hairspray - the reason I like using it now is to combat the heavy nature of some of the creams whilst getting the bouncy and moisturized feel that I like for my hair. I went off on a tangent and did not clarify the point; I love both cream and volume, which hairspray can help when the cream isn't naturally giving volume.

    I'm a damp styler, always. I find wet hair doesn't give me the look I'm going for for some reason. I'll put UFD on in the shower but thats about it. And I've been loving the fluff mousse gives me lately, maybe I'll try this once I run out of the Camille Rose one because your result was really nice!

  • @ButterscotchCloud
    @ButterscotchCloud Рік тому +13

    Although you said damp styling is not your preference, it’s nice to hear a fellow wash-n-go gal at least reference it. I alternate between thicker, more plastic-y gels and botanical gels. The former tend do a better job at defining and smoothing my hair when it’s damp, while the latter perform well when it’s wet. For me, mousse doesn’t do jack 💩 on wet hair. It’s almost as if my hair “eats” the product, if that makes sense. Can’t wait to see your next Pattern vid! I have samples of the mousse and leave in chilling in my baby stash as we speak.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому +6

      That makes total sense. Mousse is extremely water-based, so adding it to soaking wet hair is essentially like adding more water on top of water. It does absolutely nothing lol. We live and we learn 🤷🏾‍♀️. When my stylist applied it to my hair on damp hair she even mentioned that adding more water would not be useful so I guess I know why now lmao.

      The first time I applied mouse it was on completely dry hair. The definition and hold was amazing. I would try on damp or dry hair, that’s usually when I get the best results. The only time I apply mousse on wet hair is when I’m applying a botanical gel first.

    • @dellytancyl524
      @dellytancyl524 Рік тому +1

      I've found that some mouse have better hold then others. I literally had to buy every single one and try them all, best one I've found is ORS Olive oil wrap/mouse set. Works as well as any gel on 4c, slightly damp hair. the only draw back is you have to work quickly, it gets very sticky as it dries and that happens quickly.

    • @BrittanyMia

      Me too. I’ve really been putting some thought in as to why I don’t like my wash and go’s since I’ve been growing out my hair and I think it has a lot to do with why I’m so stubborn and dissatisfied with the majority of them. I can really like it and think it looks fine, but since I’ve had better before (by before I mean when I was growing out my hair after my first big chop in 2016 and wasn’t privy to all this new education) I feel as though now I’m doing much more than I used to, and I’m not necessarily reaping the benefits, but more so reaping the consequences. However, I’ve learned a ton and for that I’m grateful for going down this experimentation Road.
      There’s so many choices of products, but I’m at the point where I’m figuring out that a lot of them do almost the exact same thing. So now my focus is getting more nuanced with what brands I want to give my money to, what ingredients I like better, etc.. and once I find them, which I already have found only a few that I feel are worthy of repurchasing, I’m going to completely change my outlook and mindset around my wash and go’s. It’s currently happening now, but after my next trim, there will definitely be changes.

    First I want to say watching your videos has changed how i do my hair so much and I see the difference, I love watching your videos❤. One day you should try the Mielle Coil Sculpting Custard (Pomegranate and Honey), the smell is nice is the container when you put it on your hair it doesn’t become overpowering. We have similar hair types and it gives my hair really good definition, when I apply it the curls just separate themselves like with the curl maker!

    It's great to see a UA-camr that loves co-washing 🎉, I love the hydration I get too and I love my scalp feeling healthy. I was hesitant on trying the Ouidad cowash, not sure why. Right now I use Mizani or Pantene cowash (the latter is more moisturizing) but I am starting to experiment with your method of water rinsing then conditioner.

    • @BrittanyMia
      @BrittanyMia  Рік тому

      🎉 It’s just out of style these days ig. I noticed when I was watching some old videos that a lot of people were using cowashes as their only cleanser. Which ofc caused issues and the co-washing trend has died down. Also with the new information we have and curl specialists sharing that info here and on Tiktok and IG, ppl
      say it’s no longer necessary. which is great for them, but I love it.
      Somebody mentioned using the cowash as the weekly cleanser, but I think it would be best as a follow up cleanser to the first cleanser before deep conditioning. Thanks for sharing what you use, I’m interested in the Mizani. I really liked it when they used it at the salon.

    I was always confused by what the difference between moisturizing shampoo vs cleansing conditioner/cowash labeled products was... because they seemed like the same thing to me. Glad I wasnt the only one with the same thoughts about them being pretty similar?? I've been trying to find a difference online, but the results either give me cleansing conditioner vs "harsh" sulfate shampoo or moisturizing shampoo vs regular conditioner.. neither of which is the result im looking for
