Crazy power for what it is. My 2016 jetta 1.4L turbo made 203hp @4200rpm 21psi/ 266lbft @3400rpm 25psi with 4 degrees of timing. Just some info for ya on a tiny turbo with pump gas.
I had the same problem , even took my whole turbo kit off and went back to stock because of it ended up being a small little part inside the ecu (IC17) . Temporarily I open the ecu and heat it for about 1 minute with hair dryer and it will start lol
Those stock ek fuel pumps definitely can’t flow a ton. I had a similar issue with a bone stock k24a2 swap. Added a ton of fuel and it was leaning out as soon as vtec cracked.. threw in a stock rsx fuel pump I had in a parts car and no more issues
That style is a turbosmart gen4 compgate knockoff. Had to use that same one bcs the bigger wastegates would hit the vc and cause exhaust leaks on cast manifolds.
I believeca P28 or any honda ecu is good for low end or mild build, but it is still a 25 year old ecu with very old technology. My current build is all fueltech and as you know they are amazing!
I mean the customers original expectation was high but still that is good power out of that setup. Even dialed down to 250wheel and safe it will be a fast little car. With a few of your recommendations he could prob get around 300 and just have fun with it.

I have the same ecu problem , it's one of the resistor on ecu board ic17 , ($5 bucks on eBay ) it fails when cold , if you take a hair dryer and heat the ecu up for about a minute you will get the ecu to prime .... Got mine fixed instead of replacing whole board , 92 Eg VX Hatch eBay turbo d15z1 5 pounds made 170 with blown head gasket ....
Hunter I think I need to put my z6 together finally. I have a complete bad guys stage x head with 1mm oversize valves supertech springs retainers stage 5 Rocket Motorsports cam ported y8 manifold with 70mm TB ATI damper ported shimed oil pump. I have a genuine garett STC hunter turbo from the Showden himself which is a 3076r journal bearing with billet custom wheel and ported shroud. And I have $4000 fully built s40 a000 trans thats rated up to 700hp with MTM semi helical gearset 4.4 mfactory final just need send the block off bore it to 75.5 do ccs srt head studs get some forged 10:5.1 Arias or something what think it would make I'm thinking around 600 to the wheels at like 25 psi.

@@HunterTuned thanks for the reply 🙏 and ill deff take that advice one other thing the y8 motor i bought came with my manual swap and the motor spun bearings bad so what percentage would you recommend to bore out to to clean up the walls since I'm going to have to clearance room for the rods anyway
@@bryanhinson987 well if it spun bearings you’ll need to replace the crank and usually a hone job is fine and run stock bore or if you want a true circle bored cylinder just go .5 over
How much timing would you run at 20psi on pump gas with vitara? I run 10 amd keep busting gaskets. Not on 15psi still busted a gasket. Tried sanding the block flat with big piece of glass and still issues
@@HunterTuned I have water meth on the way, I think I'll spray with the biggest nozzle. And probably pull the block out, which sucks and, and retap it for m12 bolts
I’d tell him to upgrade the fuel pump might be going bad probably original fuel pump they get worn out over the years and it’s coming from me who’s probably same age as him
I have a complete d16y7 with the speedfactory setup and gt3076 pushing 470hp with about 28psi.

My friend had the same ecu issue we couldn't figure it out for years and it was the board and impressive numbers for a y7

Negative, they will throw stock rods around 220+

The rods themselves are fine. The bolts should be swapped for a proper arp

Need to have both block and head surface at machine shop and use an oem Honda head gasket or like a je pro seal
You could try and lower timing more but pump gas sucks man lol
