my school has 4 bunnies. chip, snowy, oatmeal and smokey. I convinced the teachers to let the bunnies be free roam and they still are to this day!

and paint cans are pretty heavy if they're full so even if the rabbit was to jump up at them and fall down they're unlikely to fall over onto the rabbit or even tip
My bunny used to live outside and she's 8 years old now, ever since I saw videos about bunnies indoors I tried convincing my parents for over 4 years and finally yesterday she was moved indoors!

I'm always really surprised that people send in pictures of bunny cages to LORELEI like do they even watch her channel? Probably not. But these habitats were absoloitely amazing and it makes me feel so happy to know that some bunnies do get amazing lives. Let's get all the bunnies to have great lives!
Yea like its asking for judgement, and their channel is BASICALLY about free roaming. But I agree pepole did such a great job about their bunnies lifestyle- freeroaming

My bunny lives outside out of choice, she was originally a free roam bunny in our house when we discovered that she loved the outdoors way better. It is a very good sized backyard for our bunny and completely bunny proofed. She has the choice to go under cover and inside our house whenever she wants. She is currently 1 year and 6 months and is living a healthy life. :)
Mine too! She does spend some time inside but she is WAY happier outdoors 😄 so she has an outdoor hutch with an enclosed run for when I'm at work, then hops around the (fully fenced) garden when I'm home in the day. Nothing wrong with having bunnies outdoors so long as they are happy.
Wow, that's great that she has the choice of running indoors whenever she wants. That'd certainly decrease the chances of a heart attack 😲
So I’m just curious here, but how do you ensure their protection from birds? I let my bunny Shadow run freely outside but only with supervision. Ive even seen small dogs and puppies get picked up by hawks & eagles. Genuinely I’m just curious I’m not trying to be judgy at all
i don’t really see the issue with a closed cage for the night and the free roam in the day. my bun is in its cage during the night cause he can feel safe and it allows us to always keep an eye on him. it’s not a trust problem, it’s just easier
no, i think she meant that they should be in a bigger cage because there are 2 bunnies and the cage they were in were really really plain. like, no hidey house, no toys, no stimulation, but if your bunny is living in a cage with lots of stimulation, and things like that then thats okay as long as ur bunny gets the exercise they need!

She said *“I don’t have a problem with them staying here at night, but it needs to become a little bit more habitable. There needs to be a little bit more stimulation. You need to put a rug in there. I think if you have those things, it should be okay.”* She never said there’s an issue with them staying there over night, just that if they aren’t going to make sure they have what they need in there, then they shouldn’t be stuck in there all night. 🙂
We do the opposite, well sorta, it’s mostly free roamed during the afternoon evenings and night and kept in a make shift cage from around 8am-3pm It’s about a 3ftx2ft space and he’s around 5-6weeks old (we took him in after finding him abandoned and skinny) it’s just convenient and we’ve given him a litter box his food and water, hay, a hiding area which he can climb over if he wants to sit up high, it’s just more convenient and the best option for us
Edit: and Ofcourse a nice pillow for nappys and a toy, though while he is free roamed we have out a tunnel and a scratching board as well as the whole living room which he likes to explore and run around in

Our bun Loopy is an indoor / outdoor bun. In the yard during the day and in the house at night. We do put him in a medium sized cage at bedtime since he can't behave unsupervised. But he plays more when we lock him up at night. If he is out at night he just lays around.

They are borrowers so they need more than 3 inches of bedding :) and they need about 450 inches sq inches of floor space!

Ik I have no place to make suggestions, but if u can, you should replace the wire bottom cage with a pet playpen! It sounds silly, but it is actually good for your rabbit because it allows them to have extra space and get the exercise they need. I’m so happy I free roamed my bunny, he’s been the happiest bun the last 3 years. I live in the “hood” in LA, so don’t have a lot of money to buy the best supplies but make the best of it with open space, cardboard toys/hidy houses and bunnyproofing the house. Best decision ever for the buns ❤️🐰

I think bunnies can live outside just fine. They live outside in the wild. I had a bunny outside, and he was so happy. I free roamed him in the yard, and he did get out COUNTLESS times, but he always came back or kind neighbors found him after a couple of days. He had a regular 2 story hutch that wasn't guinea pig sized, but I didn't need a palace. I also didn't give him the most ideal diet, a full 10 oz bowl of pellets a day, but he just mostly ate grass all day, laid under our peach tree and in our raspberry bush, and he was NEVER obese, or even concerningly overweight. In the winter, we insulated the hutch with hay and styrafoam, or we moved it into the garage till it warmed up a bit. Sweetie Pie would do binkies all day under these conditions. we had him for 4 years before my new dog got to him after we had her for a week and were trying to introduce them
I used to watch these videos for no reason but yesterday I got my first rabbit. She is so sweet. I have had her for one day and when I am sitting on my beanbag she jumps up and flops next to me/perches behind my shoulder. My whole family is shocked that a rabbit can be so gentle and calm. I am so lucky. I got her for free off facebook marketplace
My bunny has her own pen with a litter box, food/water bowls, and she has her food rabbit food behind it where she can’t get it and she free roams all day except for at night

This is what I respect about Lorelei so much. Rather than just being like "OMG YOU ARE DISGUSTING HUMAN" she actually gives genuine advice. I used a small cage (for less than a week) when I first got a bunny, and I quickly learned while doing extra research that it wasn't okay. They now have my entire bedroom to themselves with everything cord-proofed and as much hay and water as they'd like!
For those concerned during the caging process, no, it wasn't wire-bottomed and he was about 6 weeks and didn't mind living in it, BUT THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE. I obviously know better now. Thanks, Lorelei! I should show you guys my setup sometime, it's really cool I think!
I have the cage at 15:32 and I’m so glad I found this channel as I no longer stuff them into it and use it as a home base... I can finally free roam my three bunnies and I never have regretted it since 💕 thank you so much Lorelei!!!
Is your bunnies spade/neutered and how old were they when it was done? I adopted three bunnies a month a go and try to get them a vet in my area to do it but I'm worried because I believe they are only around 4 months old. I want it done soon because they aren't open to being potty trained right now so I have to keep them in their pin =/
@@sassycat6487 get them fixed asap. Younger rabbits (5-6 months) are very good at recovery. Getting them fixed early helps them not fight and the longer you wait, the more likely they are to develop cancers or breed. After the surgery, they all need to be separated in smaller than normal cages to ensure they don't exercise and rip their stitches. They will need to be reintroduced as if they have never met before and bonded slowly again.

You were a HUGE source of information for me when I was thinking of adopting a bun nearly two years ago. I now live happily with my bun and best friend, finch, who free roams in my room (my roommate has a cat so I can't let him out in the whole apartment). He wakes me up every morning sniffing my face or sleeping on the pillow next to my head! THANK YOU for everything you do!

I love that you took the time to acknowledge at the beginning how much more common it is now to have free roaming bunnies. When I got my bunny literally only a couple of months ago I bought the biggest cage I could find and fit in my space for him, but now I’m happy to say it’s been weeks since he’s been shut in his cage. Between your channel and a couple others I realized it was possible to free roam and the benefits, let him loose slowly (because I have cats and I wanted to make sure they would be ok with him) and now he’s basically just one of the cats lol. Thank you for your channel!!

@Amelie Warneck that’s so sweet! I have anxiety too but it’s almost like my rabbit knows when I’m having a panic attack or when I’m feeling bad. Muffin is a Lionhead (which you probably saw from the pfp) mixed with angora. Lionheads are generally one of the most friendly and snuggly rabbits you can find which may be why they in particular help with your anxiety. I hope you are able to get one soon, just try your best to adopt when you do! I didn’t adopt and I regret it all the time. Rabbits really will become your best friend as long as you let them ❤️

Bunnies CAN live outside they are naturally from there and developed all the adaptations to live outside so it is safer in the outdoors - as long as there’s sturdy fence - than inside. Another thing is that rabbits hate loud noises so if you keep them inside you can scare them TO DEATH with your footsteps. Bunnies. Can. Live. OUTSIDE.

the school that i go to has rabbits, at daytime they get to roam around the schools garden and eat all the grass that they want! i love seeing them hop around and digging (The grass is pesticide free and they are supervised by the teachers) at night they get their own lil classroom
I have my lionhead bunny Butch for 3 months now, he's the cutest thing ever and I would never expect i will love him that much! But, all I wanted to say is that you made me realise how unfamiliar I was with their needs. I was even considering getting a cage!! Your videos are a must to watch before anyone decides to get a bunny! My Butch is free roaming 100% in a bunny proofed appartment, when I see him zooming around my heart just melts. You inspired me to give my bun more space 💕 i moved into a bigger apartment this year where the closets are huuuge walk-ins. I converted the guest room closet into my bunnies room and decorated it super cute 😊 he loves it because it’s double the size of his xpen so he has lots of room for zoomies and more toys.

My bunny Pipkin has been free roam for the last three years because of you and your videos. He has free range of my bedroom, has his own little IKEA bed, roofed litter box, toy box, eating area, hay box and even tho my carpet is regularly destroyed I think its a worthy sacrifice for him to be happy. Also he recently had a huge life saving surgery in his ear and he's been doing zoomies for the first time in a long while and im so happy to see him feeling healthier and happier :)

i love this video and i especially like the first setup because here in Brazil (i live in Brasilia) there are so many small cages for animals and many pet stores give out the worst information and when someone has the correct things even though it’s hard to find is really great

The 4th rabbit 6:35 is living in a homestead situation. You collect the manure for your garden. It makes for excellent compost.
i really liked how lorelei appreaciated the bunny habitat made of cardboard boxes since bunnies love chewing cardboard they have so much fun with them i also leave some of them around my room so my free roamed/semi-free roamed bunny can play with them and he spends so much time having fun with them under my bed :3 sometimes rabbits just need simple things
I'm so nee to bunny owning but this Chanel was the first I found to help me out I rescued all four of my loves I got them because like so many other people I have mental health issues and my lives have helped so so much and these videos were what brought me to knowing what to do so thankyou so much

We have 5 buns(Nevis,Murphy, Finley,Kenzie & Charlie). A couple have their own large bedroom, the other pair share the rec room(free roam) and our senior boy has the entire first floor of the house(100% free roam)

my rabbit used to live in a hutch, with lots of convincing he moved to a x pen in my basement in janurary. with the help of my amazing grandma paying for it and also buying him a standing water dish. He is much happier i love him so much and he has a pretty good setup im always trying to add more things for him!
Personally, I think ideally rabbits should live indoors with a outdoor, secure pen for them to munch grass. But if your rabbit has to live outside you should think about buying a large dog create for your room/a space that's penned off with toys, litterbox for colder nights.
I can't have my rabbit inside full time as one of my family members is allergic to rabbits/Guinnea pigs but we are going to buy a crate for my room and litter train my rabbit so on cold days she has an option to come inside.

Hi Lorelei and lennon!!! so I’ve been trying to convince my parents for a while to let me get a rabbit but I’m pretty close because I’m already starting to volunteer at a shelter I really don’t understand how affectionate and interactive they can be so I’m really trying to teach them that they are any tips?
@@Willowhuell I got a puppy doing the following: doing a Google slides presentation, lots of research, constantly dropping facts, showing what I know, showing how I would take care of it, always associating things with that pet, etc. hope this helps :D
The main reason I live these videos is that I’m learning how to better take care of my bunny Fufu. I’m not able to free roam him but I’m learning how to make his life better. We found him outside at 6 month old and I took him in on a night that it was going to rain so it was a surprised adopting.
I am supposed to be in online school but watching a new Lennon the bunny video is more important

My bunnies are outside in a big stable wich is protected from the top and also from the ground with wire the ground is covered with dirt and grass they are both really safe and as long as the bunnies are safe outside it’s ok to keep them on the fresh air
Because we can’t free roam, our rabbit has a harness!! She loved to walk around, and we always make sure she can breath properly. I’m happy she can run around without us having to worry she will get stuck anywhere or the cat will try and attack her.

How did you manage to put the harness on your bunny? I have 2 bunnies, Alvin and Riley, and they're both really bad with harnesses lol, I've always wanted to walk them out with my cats but they're really stubborn
She is quite a calm rabbit, my own would never let me put it on. I think it’s all in just gaining more trust, but I’m not quite sure.
Pls don't use harnesses!! They can seriously injure your bunny!! There backs are so delicate that a harness can easily break them! It also isn't very enjoyable for them being forced to play not kn there own time☺️
@@gzalex6396 my first rabbit dont mind the harness, my second one tho. HATES harness. Some rabbits do not like harness. Its s hit or miss with rabbits

My rabbit Maude is free roam, in my garden...
We have carefully bunny proofed it and because my mum has an office that she works in 6 day of the week, she has company and i also visit often throughout the day. The garden has lots of bushes and hidey holes for her to loaf in, she especially likes loafing on the strawberries so they cant grow haha. Her homebase is a hutch in the shed. We permanently keep the hutch door open but lock the shed door during the night. We afe currently working on getting the shed completely bunny proofed, in the shed she has toys, hidey holes and perches she like to sit on. Our garden is quite big and she is very happy, we want to get her a male bunny friend but need to fix up the shed first so shelters will like the living situation. Maude is perfectly happy, grazing the lawn, sitting under bushes and chilling with my mum in her office. I think if outdoor living is done correctly, it can be one of the most suitable situations for the right bunny. ❤
14:08 is my favourite habitat, because I think that the mat matches with the walls, and the large window that allows many light comes in, I love it
Aw 9:30 wish that girls parents were more cognizant of her requests because she obviously cares for her rabbit SO much!!! Based on the great toys and all the things Lorelei has been recommendedding for years
7:11 is how I had my bunny before I started watching your channel but after I started he was living his best life.
I just got a bunny(called Toffee) and this channel is helping me take care of her on my own and you are a very helpful person.
After watching the how to convince your parents to get a rabbit I did all the steps and now my parents have finally ready to get one

I wrote an essay for my parents to get my rabbit an x-pen and my mom just isn’t on board. I’ve tried everything and I feel like a bad owner :(

Noooo, its not true. It just takes time... Try to help your mother and father doing somethings. And i know I shouldn’t say this but for getting me a bunny, when I cried for something and they tell you wats up say what happened and try to include that thing of the bunny
Your not a bad owner, Your trying to Take the best Care of your bunny! and if your mom won't let you get your bunny a X-Pen Then that's not your fault! Your actually a good Owner for wanting to Get your bunny a X-pen and for caring for you bunny! You could also save up money for it!

I can't imagine having my bunny outside all day. I would be worried sick.
from someone who isn't allowed to keep their bunnys inside, I never really feel worried because they have eachother for comfort if they get scared, and predators are never in our yard. But sometimes I do feel worried because we have a lot of neighborhood cats and one time a cat was watching them while they were playing (luckily I was home so i scared the cat away)
I'm not allowed to have them inside.. Every night I cant sleep because I'm worried. I have to check if I locked the door probably 20 times before I feel safe. :( Im trying to convince them

Yah I would definitely try to do all you can to convince your parents to let your rabbits be inside, I had three rabbits that live outside and they got attacked by a neighborhood dog. thanks to Lorelei I have three in my room litter trained and free roam 😊😊
I have never had a pet rabbit before but at the end of the month I am going to get one and I have done SO MUCH RESEARCH on your channel and hopefully I give my bunny the best life I can.
