my rabbit is not shy, (for rabbit standards) and my dog is extremely gentle, (she was abused and is a rescue so she is super slow moving and likes to stay low to the ground) she is also quite old. shes a golden retriever but small for her breed. Knowing all that my rabbit is still afraid of her. when we try to have bonding time with him and my dog, my rabbit will approach her and quickly hop away. Dogs and Bunnies can be friends and cuddle and be cute but rabbit will naturally be afraid of them even if they have a more extroverted personality. Never and i repeat NEVER leave a dog/cat and a rabbit together unsupervised, that will only lead to disasters.

5:48 I lost my one of my bunnies yesterday, I had two and I always called them my children. Trust me if you care about your bunny, it’s gonna hurt like if it was your child. I cannot stop crying, more than a bunny, more than a pet was taken. My baby was taken. And the choice of having to put her down was as if I had to take my child off of life support. That’s literally how it feels, it hurts so much
The pain never fully goes away either. Someday you will be able to hold on to the good memories and love that remain, but it's always bittersweet.
I suggest you pay the love you shared forward. It can be healing to find ways to help other rabbits, or any animals for that matter.

Yes definitely I lost one of mine 2 days before Christmas and when I had to put him down I didn’t want to let him go or anything I cried and cried and even now I cry for my baby but I still have another one and a cat but they are separated and yes they see each other but there’s a pen in the way and if I let her out the cat goes into my room and stays there with the door close until she’s back in her pen
For me safety is always in mind and anything I can do to keep my baby safe I will

The fact that they refer to their dog as Charlie but the bunny just as “the bunny” shows how they see that animal as less than their dog. That’s how you take value from animals. They will continue to be treated as less. What a horrible parent and owner.

My sister used to watch him and his name was Jackson Storm. But it's sad because he was an impulse purchase, and the kids were the ones who bought him and not the parents and they didn't really read up on how to take care of a bunny properly

I own a bunny and I'm getting a dog tomorrow so I equally love both but death is always more extreme (the dog is a Pomeranian and I have a large bunny no worries she is tinier than my bunny and trained and she will be supervised if she gets near my bunny)

This irritates me so badly. My first rabbit I had died of a genetic issue, I took him to the vet and everything and I STILL blamed myself, I was crying all night and couldn't even imagine how I would go on. I cant imagine being this irresponsible as to allow my rabbits with a dog that I know plays rough and is food aggressive and then go on to blame the rabbit and have no remorse??? This makes me sick. My heart breaks for this poor rabbit.
Nevi's Animals same, She had probably a similar issue as yours. Hers was a cancer, specifically blood cancer most likely, that was genetic as well. I still cant not blame myself.
I agree I foster kittens and sometimes they pass away I've had one pass away well I was caring for it some I didn't have very long but I still give them respect and bary them in my yard also deep enough other animals won't dig them up
My first bunny died in 2017, i rescued him. He was supposed to be food for a snake, but the snake didn't eat him. Suprisingly, he was fine, he didn't have any trouble.. Im guessing he died due to the fact i didn't knew anything about bunnies back then. I blame myself for it...I should have done research, but i didn't. He was still a small bunny...I cried alot back then.. But what they did, oh that's over the line. That bunny...I, i just can't. That bunny didn't deserve it... (my mother burried him in the backyard of the old house we were in, sadly we moved...)
This breaks me and angers me to no end. I admit I wasnt the best bunny parent at first, I had mine in a bad cage, but a 2 weeks after getting them I found this Channel gave them huge play pins, got rid of the wire cages, gave them dog beds to lay on, bought them only the first cut expensive Timothy and orchard hay, and still lost one of my first 2 pair of bunnies. Her name was cream and I cried a week straight and made her a memorial in my yard and a "in loving memory" picture frame on the wall.
Like what the hell man this makes me so angering and makes me wanna nuke their channel cause they dont deserve any views. If that video is monetized I will make short work to downvote it and report it so badly it will get taken down!!!!! IM ON THE FREAKING WARPATH🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

This is absolutely ridiculous, the lack of care for that poor bunny, it was probably terrified, I don’t have a bunny but I would NEVER under any circumstances leave my bunny alone with my dog or cat, that’s terrible. May that bunny Rest In Peace.

I’ve only let my rabbit be alone with two dogs. Both were way to old to chase a rabbit (and had no desire to attack a bunny) and were too big to go into her hiding places. I haven’t let her be alone with any other dog since the two I mentioned died. Both dogs also accepted that the bunny was in charge and the boss and did not challenge her.
My dog and bunny play together but my dog has no prey drive, he runs away scared if my bun gets too rowdy (and by rowdy I mean when he binkys). My bunny is actually the boss of the friendship. That being said they aren't allowed alone together. Also my dog doesn't out weigh my rabbit by that much Ben (bunny) is 1.12kg and Loki (dog) is 2.3kg.

Honestly, I know dogs are capable of emotion and of missing their friends, but I think they were just anthropomorphizing the dog a little bit in this case. They assumed that the dog and bunny were friends and that the dog was sad, but that's kind of unlikely. It seemed more like the dog was treating the bunny like a toy and then just relaxing around the house like dogs do.

i know right, i mean 1 month ago I was serching for few hours to get two bunnies cause i have place and then i saw that one guy is selling them for meat or to be reproducting.. So i contact him in middle of the night and send him message and two days afterwards they were here.. German Checkered and New Zealand. they will will here when they dont die of old age. Both girls are curious and playfull and i have small kids but i never leave Masa or Polka Dot without watching them with kids... I mean thats some comon sense... This video upset me so much... I was having breakfast while watching it... Nopee , now i feel i ate a stone.

Something additional that bothers me is that the dog is defensive about his food. This isn't good for anyone. You should teach your dog that he/she doesn't need to be insecure about their food.
Then again, some commenter speculated the rabbit may have gone for the food (multiple times, even when this huge predator gave warnings) bc he/she was hungry. So maybe the dog was protective of his food for the same reason?
My old family dog and old family rabbit got along amazing. That's because we taught Bandit how to behave, no chasing, no play,, only cuddling and grooming.. Butterscotch would scent mark Bandit, groom him. However, even though Bandit was beyond gentle with Butterscotch we never ever left them supervised. Even though they basically grew up together we never trusted them alone together.

Exactly, rabbits don’t really understand the way predator animals “warn” them. And the fact that they even had dog food out in the open for the rabbit to get was concerning to me as well, because they had to know their dog was food aggressive

This video made me really angry, they saw the signs of a dog getting aggressive and being rough with the rabbit and they just let the it stay in a dangerous situation. I hope they never get a rabbit again, because it would be upsetting. I think they look naive, thinking the dog was friends with the rabbit. Rabbits are prey to dogs and people are trusting of their dogs. Alot of people are like this. It's so sad!

My dog loves to snuggle with my rabbit.. the dog is more scared of the rabbit. They are always supervised when they’re together and the dog treats it like a baby and just lets the rabbit do as it pleases. I’m so glad my dog is gentle

It may be possible for it to happen, but the possibilities of that rabbit surviving the attack are very slim, considering they are prey animals and dogs are predators. The point of this video and this comment you replied to is that it’s never okay to let a large dog near such a small animal and let them “play” and “wrestle”.

I’m thinking abt getting a rabbit I have 3 dogs I would have my bunny free roam in my room! Keep them separate I don’t wanna risk my bunny getting hurt. Or feeling trapped In normally in my room do u think it would help to keep a rabbit in my room and let it free roam?
@@ellechambers246 I have rabbits and 3 dogs as well! The bunnies live in my bedroom apart from my dogs. You will have to consider:
- you must always keep doors and possibly windows closed, making sure guests or housemates understand this
- a closed door might lead to less ventilation so you will want to be prepared to cool your rabbits down if it feels warm, considering that ceiling fans do not effect their body temps
- your dogs will no longer have access to your room at all
- it is possible that the rabbits might mark territory on your bed-I believe this channel already has a video on it
- your rabbits will need to have enough space in your room to run around and binky
- you might not be able to decorate your room exactly the way you want it and will need to work around your rabbits (this comes with free roaming in general).
I do really encourage you to work toward free roaming! If bunnies already have access to a room for part of the day, giving them all their time out shouldn't be very different. I love my rabbits but sometimes wish my dogs could come into my room or that I wouldn't have to worry about an open door. That being said, keeping bunnies in your room is 100% doable if you're prepared to handle it.
They dont deserve dogs or rabbits (any animal in general) they probably got the dog from a puppy mill (or a pet store) honestly if they let their dog be like that then they can’t have small kids around him since they may also trigger the dog or even the smaller dog could be in danger.

I don't even let my small dog (we had her for 11 yrs and is very trustworthy) around my 2 month old chicks. Even though the chicks are almost as tall as her.. But a bunny and a BIG dog?!??! My big dog is a labrador and she plays too rough. I don't even really let her near the birds that land in the yard

When I used to have bunnies, I never let my dogs and bunnies meet on purpose. However, one day my bunnies got out and I found one of my dogs cuddling with them. They were both flopping together and it made my day (I still wouldn't let them meet if I still had the bunnies, but it was cute at the time and the best way that situation could've gone).

My hamster escaped a playpen and right when I saw the open area I balled my eyes out. I looked around my room and somehow thought to look in her cage. Surprisingly she was in her own cage with the door open. I put this because she only escaped and I cried so much. Their bunny died and they just said darn it and didn’t care.
People do deal with grief differently though, so even though she may not have seemed too sad maybe she was actually super upset and trying to hide it. I try to have the mentality that death is a part of life and try to hide my sadness when things die (doesn’t always work though) so idk

Also the fact that they knew the dog was food aggressive, I had a food aggressive dog when I was growing up, we always fed him separately from the other dogs and never had food just sitting around; especially if the food aggressive dog was unsupervised.

100% correct! my bunny and my cat are extremely interested in each other but i never let them be near one another unless i am watching very closely. Any sign of predator to prey behavior at all (chasing, swiping, ect.) and the cat is kicked out of the room. if theyre both good i give them treats as a reward. Always supervise predator to prey pets when theyre in the same room!
My cat and my rabbit are so close, but I never leave them for too long just in case. Rabbits are still prey animals and I know cats can hurt rabbits, even if mine is so so gentle.

@@meganbruce41 the bunny willingly went to the dog. The bunny did get warnings. The dog was being careful when playing with the bunny, but he felt threatened because Bunny went next to his food. The big dog is also rough with the smaller dog when the small dog goes next to the food

yeah I just hope those kids grow up to know better than this. If they get older and get a pet, I really do hope that they do their research and not follow their parents’ awful example. Not all dog & bunny relationships are bad. My tiny dog (tea cup; 3lbs) & my 2 bunnys love each other. They grew up together. My dog think he's a bunny. They don't play together & my bunnys are bigger than my dog. They are also never left unintended when together.

The fact that he defends the dog and then say he has more emotion towards the dog being sad makes me mad, the fact that there was no emotion even from the kids makes me mad and the fact that they never called the rabbit by his/her name makes me mad, and the fact that they practically rewarded the dog (I do understand it wasn’t the dogs fault) so he thinks it’s ok and that the poor rabbit was a toy and that it was ok makes me mad, if u can’t tell I’m mad. I’ve had multiple rabbits and never once did I leave them alone with my dog or my ferrets. I’m very mad and people need to understand prey is prey and predators are predators whether there domesticated or not.

When my bunny Theodore passed away & he had a really long happy life. I had him buried in my garden & planted a beautiful magnolia tree. He wasn’t a pet he was my baby & a big part of our family.

I was taking care of a 3 week old cottontail that my cat had brought in because it hadn’t died yet, it died 4 days after we found it. I cried for the entire day since the day I woke up and it had died from the cold. Watching this made me sad

The fact that the family attempts to justify the actions that happened is just insane to me. The dog is clearly 5 times the size of the bunny yet they thought it was a good idea to let the bunny around the dog. That's like putting a kitten in the same cage as a dog who is vicious like how is someone that clueless. And the fact that the mention the dog is sad, the dog most likely does not care the bunny is a random creature to the dog, I really doubt the dog feels remorse for the bunny.
They were humanizing their animals way too much and being naive idiots thinking their animals were just Disney-like best friends. Animals can definitely be friends and form close bonds with different species, but leaving two of that difference in strength unattended is the peak of stupidity. Especially since they made it sound like the dog and rabbit barely knew each other.

Maybe the dog feels remorse for having to hurt another creature? Or maybe it's sad it's toy is taken away. It's hard to say, but I do think the family failed the dog too because it shouldn't have had to go through that. Dogs have bred instincts to hunt prey animals.

I am so happy that I found this channel. Thanks to you Lorelei, my two bunnies can hop around in my garage all day. I built a cute cardboard castle for them, they love hanging out in it and running around like Duracel bunnies and doing binkies. Thanks for letting me know how to give them a loving home. I am crying tears of joy because I am so thankful that they can enjoy themselves❤️

Guys stop being rude. He was not that sad because it wasn’t his bunny, his kids just brought it home as a prank and he didn’t have a choice to get rid of it. So he never really liked the bunny. (I know because I was a former viewer.)
