Bugbyte implemented a lot of changes in Alpha14 and the game pretty much bacame even more awesome. Crewmembers are now leveling up. We can fully customize our starting crew. Crewmember Traits were rebalanced opening up more versatile valid options. Derelict ships were redesigned.
So in Ep1 we are going through the entire getting started process, customizing our game difficulty, setting up our starting crew raiding our first derelict ship and designing our starting ship / space raft.
In this let's play gameplay we again go for a customized version of brutal difficulty because as a minmaxer i love the challenge.

always salvage hull scrap last, as stuff is removed from the hull wall, the scrap level amount will go from low to medium or medium to high.
you mean well but why turn it on later they mine the hull as soon as it gets available...
@@Drakkart I take you should scrap hull last on pressurized ships, so your crew won't need suit inside to scrap the rest... still not applicable to derelict ones though 😬

So, this is not exactly brutal level, but modified?
the starting settings were modified because back then brutal didn't account for the build time of a ship at all, also the "full edit" for crew was introduced with that patch. So ressources scarcity stayed. but the start was edited.

Less than 20 days in game time. Pirate attack my ship and kill one , capture one. What should i do to alleviate this problem?
@@theeraphatsunthornwit6266 reload before it happens, jump out of the system before they dock. If this is your first encounter with the game learn from it and eventually start over and avoid the situation. the difficulty system kinda gives the game a roguelike thing. so a bit more information please you started which difficulty how many playthroughs?
@@Drakkart first playthrough, medium difficulty.
I kind of want to play ironman mode ie. No loading. Maybe i will try easier difficulty.
@@theeraphatsunthornwit6266 Ok look if it is your first playthrough go easy experience what happens make mistakes the further you get the more you earn. get comfy with the ui tech tree etc. then when you think ok ironman mode start that one. and then once you beat this on medium ramp it up to hard...
the game has a very pleasant leraning curve some mistakes you want to prevent at any cost...
Are you able to customize the name, race, and gender of the crew at the beginning as well? TY for the video.
sure i mean you can alter the appearance meaning race hairstyle and gender and ofc you can rename them. you could change the names at any time in the game.

@@Drakkart I have watched session 2 episodes 1 through 9. Awesome. Most of the first season. I'm interested in the episodes with brutal difficulty. Very cool.

@@Drakkart u spent the first half of the video describing the best min max build for your crew. i dont even know what any of these stats do lol. not trying to be a hater the video was good but it didnt help me as a new player in the slightest
@@Dylan_ispeeing now that is some good criticism Thank You! actually it is how any good crew would operate but sure my fault you guys not understanding the values ymeans you also don't get the bigger picture. Thank you! Gonna make a new one and make sure you guys know the values first before we talk about composing a crew. for now go in the game play, eventually die and learn then come back and i am pretty sure you have a way better understanding of what those values do. at least that is the way most players figured it out before guides were a thing.

@@Dylan_ispeeing no worries man. i am actually reviewing the guide for - inspiration viewing it from your point of view. You know i am not a diplomat either so i can deal with something straight but that to me just seemed honest and valueable feedback first of all. The thing is without setting the start up you woun't get far in the game without playing the game you don't know how to properly set your crew up. So i wonder how to circumvent this - it is not a game flaw it is more like if you do not know what you are doing you should be punished for that to make you learn and as a achiever i love it but it does not go well with an easy start into a game kinda. So hmmm... how to do this then?
