Hey man, Space Haven video makers always fly in formation! haha. Your extensive breakdowns are about to become CRITICAL. Feel free to add other tips here in the comments too, and I'll pin 'em! I'm very much looking forward to this thing hitting steam!
Solid Content We had our brief scuffle during the interview, but we’ll bury the space hatchet. I think you covered the quick start guide well, but if I think of anything I’ll drop it here.
The last tip is 100% true. I am addicted to this game. And it's still on alpha. A well polished alpha. And it's java based game. Crazy! I never thought in a million years that I would be addicted to a game made in Java in 2020.
Hahahah I've never thought about that! That's so true - the friggin game folder is like 200MB, it's insane how well built this foundation is! Thanks for watching!
1. You can trade anything of value, even scrap. Have some odd bits of scrap that, when recycled, still don't really in final products? You can sell them to acquire vital materials until you can make them, or just slowly accumulate money. 2. You can sketch your hull design before committing to construction. You can use this to plan out your ship and build it out in chunks or phases. 3. I like to color code my people based on their predominant skill role like green for botany, red for medical, blue for construction, etc. Their spacesuits match their shirts, so you can easily keep track of them. This also helps make it easier to group people based on home ship and work schedules by simply looking at their shirt colors in the personnel manager window. 4. Try to compartmentalize areas as much as possible. Yes, this takes up resources and space for walls, doors, and thermal regulators, but it also makes it easier to manage disasters and prevent complete shutdown of your facilities if you get to much smoke, suffer a breach, or thermal swings. 5. Group certain manufacturing machines into specialized rooms. You can see that each machine generates a certain amount of heat or chemicals during production. Put the chemical exhaust machines into one room with a couple gas scrubbers. Not only will you keep your people from getting sick, but you'll passively generate chemicals and carbon for use. As for the machines that generate waste heat, keep them in a room with a couple extra thermal regulators. 6. Try to build areas next to rooms that consume their products. For example, group your bathrooms and farm rooms near your composters since they have a symbiotic relationship of biomatter and water. Don't put these all in the SAME room, but put those rooms close to each other to reduce walking time.
RIGHT? It honestly wants me to start another Rimworld map, and then when they are ready to take to the stars, whoever I'm left with at the end, I roll them characters in this game and keep going as though it's the same group...
I gotta shout out the OG Subscribers! haha Thanks Sheerpwnage, I hope you have a blast playing this game. Make sure to let me know when you have a SWEET ship to see!
Thanks for the tips Solid. Got me hyped for launch later today and hopefully prepared so my crew might not have to eat each other! Loved the way you and the dev joked about the "meat" nerf in your previous vid.
Hahahah Thanks Vv!!! Yeah, I'm so stoked. I'm reaaally excited about my new ship dream.... And I loved the dev joking about it, but DO NOT enjoy not being able to sell human feet for millions of credits....
This is the most addicting game I've played in years. I got the game about 4 days ago, I've built ships that can jump, and I've salvaged several wrecks, but I can't advance the game due to lack of tech blocks. I ran out of water because I did not turn the ice melting machine on after I built it. I lost my shuttle in another game. It was docked at a pirate ship when it was boarded by another ship who wiped them out. The pirate ship became a derelict but my shuttle turned blue, like a friendly asset, but not mine anymore. I don't usually care for these types of games, reminds me of Settlers, but I am totally hooked. Each time I start a new game, I make it a little further. I already have a clock right above my monitor, it does not help since I'm so engrossed in this game. Anyone notice how the crew members have unique personalities? Some of them goof off more and others work harder, some are kinda mean to others and some comfort their comrades. I got a accident prone goof off in my last game, he eats 2 meals instead of one, stays up late at night, and starts fires when he is working.
YES. ANOTHEr person who sees the tRUTH about this game! Hahaha, They are going to keep adding content/systems/assets to this game, and I very much do think that this will eventually become a CONTENDER for Rimworld. We are here at the ground floor! If this game shows up in Early Access this strong? IMAGINE what's next!! Can't wait to go to Space Haven rehab next year...
my new play through is ice very common and fuel is rare.. rushing through the galaxy finding 1 ice of 6/6 per system is stupid af.. by making ice common and fuel rare it will allow me to camp a sector longer instead of always warping for more fucking ice... and you cant extort a defeated ship for ice they only offer creds and fuel.. with fuel rare there will still be reason to trade and i'm trying to play prison architect in space but no ice messed that up
Thankyou for these tip, they look really handy. Just one thing though, The thumbnail for this video is a bit misleading, i spent 5 minutes trying to find the Tip number 1 video before clicking on this.
you should build a backup power system for essential systems asap especially for your energy recycler, because if main gen goes down and it eventually will, (its logistics is wounded or KO or something) its catastrophic because you cannot make more power rod without the recycler you build them with one way power batteries and solar panel, my last ship could jump and fire turrets with generator offline, grow lab and shuttle bay also had emergency power.
OOooh, that's a clever design! so you have an entirely redundant system with solar panels? Or do you use capacitors that only feed to those systems somehow? Love this idea...
You and Greenbeef are my favourite UA-camrs. I kinda wanna see a collab. Maybe a Space Haven and Crossroads Inn collab ahemmm Also, very helpful video. There's so much in this game, it's done so well.

Dude, yessss awesome! Well I'm gonna stream tomorrow morning, if you wanna come hang out. I'm no expert but I might know a few things that can help! Or at last we can just have fun.
The game is pretty full of content for being an early access, but with that said it's still pretty empty. Like once you get your ship built there's kinda nothing left to do other than mine, and attack other ships. There's no end game items to chase after, no unlock-able ship parts, only two types of small craft the shuttle and mining one (no fighters, or specialty vehicles to unlock), or some end game goal (like leaving the planet in rimworld) so once I get everything built I kinda feel like that's it. Sure going around killing anything that moves is fun, but I want to have a reason for that not cause i'm bored lol.
Hahahah that's a fair comment, and I think more will be added as we carry on in to EA, but for me the drive is sustainability, and then adding more ships... Can' wait to have a flotilla of ships warping in to a sector.
@@SolidContent Yea the core game with all of mechanics is there and works pretty well with little to no bugs, not like other EA games where it's a bunch of flashy features for marketing that end up being kinda boring and hardly work. Hey Southern Knight! I actually agree with you, the healing time is Looooong right now, luckily if you don't have a med bay, sometimes they just sort of walk it off? Like they keep working while they slowly regain their hp. For now at least... Might get changed in a bit. As for getting more crew, you can sometimes find them on derelict vessels in hyper sleep chambers, OR you can attempt to recruit prisoners to your crew! Right now, that's the only way to get more crew!
Here's a tip... You may stumble across a ship with abandoned crew members in it that are suddenly added to yours early in the game while you have limited food and water. YAY....27 water and 9 crew!!!!!Before they bleed you dry resources make a tough decision and leave the weakest ones on a derelict vessel as you hyperspace out of the system😭😭😭

If you get your whole ship in smoke and fire - you can open your X1 Airlock. Be careful with oxygen level
