Space Haven is a spaceship colony building sim out now on Steam. We'll need to manage resources and a crew if we're to survive the cold, empty harshness of space. It's gonna be a blast!
Hope you enjoy the video, if so please show some support and leave a like.

It's always a great feeling when you've watched 5 guides that offered nothing of substance, then you stumble upon a pure gold guide like this one that not only answers all your questions, but even gives you answers to the questions you didn't know you had.
THANK YOU! it is an older guide though, the game has evolved a bit so if you need council on the actual beta just try catch me in one of my streams and i'd be glad to help you out.
As someone who learned a lot of this the hard way, even years later, this is a terrific guide that will save you SO MUCH TIME and answers so many questions that plague us in the beginning.
thank you
Seems like great tips, but oh boy does this look complex. I don't know what I was expecting but I definitely need to play a few hours and then return to this video with a little bit more perspective and experience!
Don't worry the game has changed a lot since this video was produced so. just ease into it. some tips are still valid but ovrall it is quite a different experience meanwhile ;)
@Drakkart do you have any updated videos for the game? I also bought their other game, cosmoteer. While it's quite different overall it'd also excellent, do definitely check that out if you haven't!
@@bp968 i wanted to do an updated version but my time is limited sorry ;)
That power network tip is beyond helpful. You’ve saved me lots of stress haha.
you mean it helps a lot with saving fuel, yep that was the intend ;)
Your tips are gold worth. To the point!! Thanks a lot, mate
Thank you ;)
Very detailed and efficient. Thank you for making this. loads of great information man. 💯
sadly a bit outdated but still valueable ;) Thanks Jason
I've been watching your Space Haven videos, since I've gotten back into the game. They've been a nice accompaniment while playing. Also, for the nutrition settings, I've been using 12/1/6/16/0/0. It has all greens with only 35% usage per meal. Plus it lets you focus your food production primarily on fruit and nuts, which helps at the beginning when production fully set-up.
intersting so you hardly need meat that is good! probably not my favorite because well i am just used to how i play and kinda developed a feeling for how much they use at a certain number of crewmembers... but 35% would mean the'd even use less so thank you for sharing. thing is nuts grow so slow... yeah but i shall try it out.
No wayyyy I hope this works in alpha 17 , well I just bought it and idk when ur Version was updated when this comment is 1 yr old
Thats a lot of detail knowledge and tips!
Thanks, glad it gets valued ;)
Great video man! I'm getting that Space Haven itch again!
Hey buddy, nice 2 read ya... Thank you, yep trying my best to share my strats and tactics.
Nice Guide. I wish they would allow us more control over the storage places. I.e. One for Ores, scrape, food, blocks, weapons and misc.
that is in the game and not only for storage evry production building has that stuff where you can set it up and forget about it for the crew willhandle it totally autonomously.
in my actual series i am streaming you can learn about how i set up the storage for the industry area... for good production, for ammunition for turrets... that is definitely in there.
@@Drakkart Thanks Mate, yeah I didn't see it or how to do it. Will have to watch you on the weekend as rl limits my weekly, videos and gaming. Cheers.
@@majorhawker4776 sure man drop by whenever i am live and i'll gladly show ya.
Thanks!
You're welcome
Thx mate !!!
You're welcome!
As a newbie, this helped me a lot though need an updated tutorial for new things❤
absolutely the game has changed so much since then...But glad it helped. Thing is though i noticed youtube us punishingchannels which try to diversify content and recently my cities skylines content really blew up so. i sadly don't see a way for this happening soon.
@@Drakkart I am glad your Cities:Skylines content is blowing up! I do wish you had time to do some update Space Haven content as I think this game is a great gem and you made awesome videos for it!
@@Skellybr0 actually with more time money or whatever i'd love to bring the game back for i totally agree it is a gem. i was thinking about starting a second channel or just do lifestreams or whatnot but right now it is just a matter of available time you know. with more success hopefully i can find an editor which would free up a load of time.
Distribute crew wake/sleep times, necessary when growing meat, as they always seem to need a botanist awake or the crop dies.
never encountered crops dying due to later harvest. but noted shifts for crew could be beneficial in the guide.
This is the second video of yours I have seen @Drakkart, and I am just as impressed as with your _Power Tutorial_ video. Only, I got a little lost with your tip at 3:40 - 4:22. From what I could see, the linkages were as follows: (a) Bidirectional link, (b) One Way Out link, (c) One Way Out link. There was a link from the initial Power Capacity Node to an In-Floor Power Node, linking to a second In-Floor Power Node and then to a second Power Capacity Node. Correct? I couldn't see any difference between (b) and (c) except for the Thermal Regulator built adjacent to the In-Floor Power Node. Is that what makes the difference and does it have to be that device exactly, or can it be something else? If this is correct, then how does having a device connected to the In-Floor Power Node increase rather than decrease output?
b and c are identical in linkage only an "additional power consumption thing" makes the difference. why it works we might not fully understand and yes it is confusing but it does work. So my explanation for it is kind of a guess. so you see the infloor power nodes need 0.1 power/s to operate. an aditional consumer is going to drain the first powernode faster. thus triggering a fill up charge from the source powercapacity node more frequently and thus in total shoving more power to the destination power capacity node. you know you could put solarpanels everywhere on your ship and they'd be helpful right. Now if your goal though is to keep your generator ideling meaning not using any fuel, you need to keep it's power capacity full. so we do not just want like in config a a balance of partly power is generated by generator consuming fuel and partly by panels. we want the panels first to go entirely dry before the generator even kicks in thus burning fuel. this way we can conserve as much fuel as possible that is why this finding is so important. because it helps with really shoving power through to the generator and keepin it capped off thus going idle.
Thank you again for your comment and your appreciation.
complete newbie here and hope someone can help me, just hit my 1st hyperdrive but nothing happens , gone into it got 7 movement points I guess but the ship doesn't go anywhere, im sure iv been dumb, took me long enough to get this far but no clue of the next step??
you hit your 1st hyperdrive meaning you just built it? and then you got 7 movement on it? well is your ship heavier than what the drive can support?
I am on my second run. First one i died shortly after my first jump when i boarded a derelict. But I learned quickly from my mistakes. My second run is much deeper, my ship is more compact, had a better plan, got a better starting crew, etc. But now i think im screwed and have to restart. I am out of steel plates, which apparently my hull stabilizer has been eating up since my game started (hull stabilizer was one of the very first goals they make you build - if i knew it ate up a limited resource that i cant even get from salvaging, i would have waited). Is there anything i can do to get steel plates or do i need to quit?? I'm so disappointed with this feature, it feels game breaking to me. if you need steel plates continuously for your ship, they should have made it something you can salvage. I can't make a furnace or whatever yet, because research is SOOOO slow. This game could be so good if they changed the hull stabilizer and significantly sped up research
ok look if they would make those changes then they'd take the challenge out of the game and it is the challenge in combination with vonquering the hurdles that finally gives this satisfying feel of achievement. i mean i understand where you are coming from. BTW. thanks for commenting! For as the video id older it does notcover the newermechanics - i am going to start streaming space haven again when the new update hits. Anyway, the hull stabilizers work like this they turn x steelplates into y hull stability aka HP now when first building your ship it starts with 0 if you now start feeding htem steelplates they will consume them just fir generating those hitpoints to the maximum. after that the steelplates are only used to replenish lost hp you could trade them you could pirate them and sometimes you also find some. later you just produce them. but the most satisfying part of the game up untill now is getting there as soon as you have established autonomy and enough firepower the game becomes boring. to speed up research make sure those research labs are worked 24/7 so split crew into different shifts.and have crewmembers spare when your main boarding crew is on a mission. and well maybe build a second research facility... also provide resting next to the research lab so people don't have to lwalk through the entire ship to take breaks.
@@Drakkart Is there anything i can do now to get steel plates or do i need to restart? Will a ship come who i can trade for steel plates? It just so strange to me that its such a crucial resource (and that its steel), yet it cant be salvaged from ships. And why would the game make you do a hull stabilizer so early without even mentioning the steel plate issue.
@@starstuff333 well the game is still EA so they have been trying lots of stuff the past year but yeah that also caught me by surprise. yeah most ships have some so you can trade.
Lol. Yeah Space Haven is way too intense for me. The in-game tutorials barely cover anything, and guides like these are practically speaking another language because I haven't even approached the material this is covering before being murdered by pirates or running out of resources. I have no idea why people call this game "Rimworld in space" when Rimworld is an infinitely easier game to understand and play.
Aww man well then sorry the video didn't resonate with you or was not for you then i guess.
