Even when I come back to an old video of yours. I find it better than most. Great job, thanks.
Thank you!
I have no idea why YT has not recommended your channel to me before, as I am an avid upland hunter with a wirehair! I found you from Tyler's podcast just this week. You really are doing the best YT videos for upland hunters! Excellent work. Thanks for all that you do. It allows me to live vicariously through you, as we we have short grouse seasons in northern Ontario. If you ever want help finding birds up here, please reach out. We have some of the densest ruff grouse populations anywhere. Winter shuts it down fairly early though. All the best.
Hey Jayce, welcome to the channel! Thanks for reaching out and I hope you enjoy the other videos!
Excellent team
I’ve said this before on past hells canyon videos but you do the best job of capturing the experience of hunting this area that you can possibly do with a camera. Glad you found success while you were here too, the late snow we got made things tricky for ID late season.
Thank you. Yeah, I hunt in more snow in part 2.
Unless you have been to this area you can’t understand how beautiful it is and how rugged it is. Hunting here you earn every single bird.
I’m too old and fat for that terrain. Stroll in the foothills is more my speed.
Good for you getting out.
OK Eric. The best one yet !! Can't wait to see #2. Those ol' hills in Bloomington don't compare with the "Canyons" !. After years have passed you will have great memories with those great dogs of yours. Tubbs was fantastic !!
So true, thanks!
It was a nice hunt. The wing sounds of the partridges are great, congratulations
New to hunting of any kind as of this year, Eric your content is a fantastic introduction to upland game. Thank you so much for doing this- I'm real excited to get into the field this fall
That’s great, welcome to the club! Good luck out there. 👍
This Video showcases why we hunt. Beautiful country, good dog work and man and dog working as a team, thanks Eric for posting.
Thanks! 👍
Great dog work. Spectacular scenery. Good shooting. Thank you for the excellent content.
Thanks! 👍
For future information I think you can take a ram skull like that you just have to call fish and game and notify them that you have it and where you found it. obviously call to double check.
Best stuff on the internet! Great dog work in some beautiful country!
Very kind, thanks! 👊
Thanks for taking us along on another great hunt. Tubbs is truly a remarkable companion.
Thanks!
Awesome video!! I love hunting chukars and watching my dogs work, haven't been serious about it for two years, but I've got a new knee now and this video has inspired me to start working out and getting in shape for the season this year
Excellent! Good luck this year!
I always admire your ability to find birds.
Also always impressed that your dogs can be in that kind of environment without boots
Thank you. Good feet are very important in our lines. 👍
Your content is amazing. I quail hunted my childhood down in Tennessee. All of the birds are gone in our area. This brought back so many great memories of dogs and family!
Thanks for taking the time to put these up! I enjoy all of your chukar videos
Amazing terrain and dog work Eric. Thank you for sharing your trips around the country
Thanks! 👊
Great video. People have no idea how hard this hunting can be.
Great videos....nice to see you picking up your empty shell cases!
Hi.In my opinion, there is no higher pleasure in the world than this method of climbing and hunting.super like👍👍👍
I agree! Thanks! 👍
Great hunting as always! Thanks for capturing it and bringing us along!
Eric, I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. Great dog work, your descriptions of what is happening, the scenery....ALL OF IT is superb. What size shot and choke tube are you using? Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for taking the time to put it all together. Since the season is over, your videos are my fix :)
Thanks for that Don! I’m glad you like them. On this trip I had 6’s and improved cylinder.
Great hunt Eric
Enjoyed each moment
Thanks for uploading
Thanks 👍
Best hunting videos out of America true hunter keep them coming .
Thank you! 👊
Outstanding dog work in outstanding country! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Your videos are great. And while I love hunting far away destinations, some of that country looked too intimidating to my old body. Kudos to your off season workout program!
😆Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO GREAT DOGS GREAT SCENERY SURE MUST KEEP YOU IN SHAPE.
Eric, once again you have brought us another epic trip chasing high country chukar! Been looking forward to watching this!!
Thank you for all the work you do to give others a window in!
Some truly amazing country, fine shooting and seriously nice dog work!! Tubs was on fire!!
Great vid with your brother too in Kansas…fantastic work!!
That’s very kind of you, thanks! 👍
Beautiful country and great dog work again. Your videos may be the best on upland hunting on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Beautiful country.
That country is so beautiful
Great hunting again thanks for sharing 👍
Man....what a nice trip we take watching your videos..can't wait tell the next part❤❤👍🏼
Thank you! 👍
Great video, I love the authenticity! You must love it out there since it is your second time.
No place quite like it.
Awsome shots and hunting sceens. Very good editing. Congrats
Thank you!
Great video Eric with awesome dog work and shooting! You are hunting right in my back yard.
Thanks! I thought you had to be near there because I recognized a spot in one of your videos this year. Some good stuff!👍
@@ericforrester1 For sure! We are hunting some of the same spots in the big ditch. I sure as heck enjoy your trips to Hells Canyon! Great job again this year!
Awesome video buddy!!! Great dogs great shooting, making me wish I was back out there.
Thank you!
Great video! Love your interactions with your good dogs.
Thanks!
I would guess you don't have much hunting competition there unless mountain goats take up hunting. These 82 year old legs aren't up to it anymore. Thanks for taking me along.
😁👍
that tubbs dog is really nice
Thanks!
Chukar hunting, first time is for fun after that it’s all revenge.
Just found your channel? Love it
Thanks, welcome!
Nice video . I have hunted hells canyon my whole life also with a wire dogs. You could have kept the bighorn sheep . You just have to present them to fish and game to get pinned. Than you couldn't sell trade or give them to anyone.
awesome video!!! can you please show us sometimes how do you prepare them or cook them?
Just been hunting Chukar here in New Zealand .......its country like yours but way less birds ...and we dont have Huns to keep us occupied ! We watched your videos most evenings of our trip to keep us motivated !
Very cool, thanks! Good luck out there!
Good job 👍 one of the best hunts I've seen looking forward to see your hunt this year
Thanks! 👊
Great video, your camera work is excellent, good shooting, and wow two great dogs! I loved it!
Thanks!
I’m in watching part 2, it gets pretty cold in Hells Canyon, I’ve hunted Brownlee, Hells Canyon above and below the dam too! And you said Steep, you sure are right, in places dangerous steep! There’s a difference between loneliness and solitude! I’ve been therefor days in complete solitude with my dogs!👍😀
Can you do a video of your camping set up and or camera set up . How do you fit your dogs and everything gnin your truck !
You’re in luck, I have multiple videos available on this subject on my Patreon page 😉 www.patreon.com/ericforrester
Those views are incredible!! Nice dog work as usual, just super jealous I don't think my body can take that beating anymore. Definitely a hunt I would love to do!!
Just beautiful ! Thanks 👍🏻🇺🇸
Awesome hunts thanks for sharing 👍 🇺🇸🗽👍
The Vermonter
I always enjoyed your videos man keep going This is Is reminding me hunting back home That's the lovely target in Morocco the chukar or Partridge what the best location where I can found him I'm on NC
Chukar are only out west. Western Wyoming and Colorado are the eastern edge of their range.
Nice mountains , you are so lucky to have so many game
Yes, we are very lucky
Oh and love your videos great job
I really enjoyed this video. I’m mostly a quail and duck hunter. I have a red Fox pointing lab. We don’t have many chukar where we live. Perhaps next year we’ll travel out of state
Just found the channel! Awesome video. Glad to see a fellow Hoosier chase Chukar! I might go next year.
Very cool, thanks!
Great work !
I really hope you channel just blows up you share some really good content
Haw to use camera sir? Beautiful action videos thanks
Terrific! Thanks for sharing!
👊
What size shot and weight shot do you use? Those birds do seem tough. You seemed to have hit that one bird near the end pretty good twice. Great video. Beautiful County.
I used #5 on this trip.
Best bird dog vids on YT
Good stuff Eric! Nothing better than a trip with you and the dogs. I just got back from Kansas, hunted last 4 days of the season. I see your using Boss shells. I got my first ones for my 20 gauge, I like them.
Me too, so far so good. 👍
@@ericforrester1 all I got was the 3 shot. What were you using?
5’s
Great dog work as always and a great video but man the up hill climbs look a little rough
That’s an understatement! 😁
Great Video!
amazing views
Well done video and damn good dog work!
Thank you!
are you on the idaho or OR side? in idaho you should be able to keep big horn sheep horns, you do have to bring them in and they mark them, forbid you from transferring ownership etc but check page 99 in big game handbook for details.. for next time, if it’s idaho.
I am not ashamed to admit to ground sluicing a bird if I’ve worked my ass off getting to them. Excellent videos and great dog work.
Amen! 😆
It’s part of the hunt. Many birds try to run and refuse to fly. Nice work on this video Eric.
Thank you!
Hey Eric.. Great videos to get me through the summer til bird season!! I'm in Lincoln Nebraska and I own land in Nebraska and South Dakota with some good bird numbers and plan on a Montana trip for several weeks this winter if you ever want to link up. I have a couple really good shorthairs.
Thanks man! 👍
Harika avcısınız sizi izlemekten büyük keyif alıyorum avınız bol olsun 🦆👍🇹🇷
Teşekkür ederim!
Finallly made time to watch - XCLNT! Great to see Mr. "Tubbs" on fire!
Thanks Pat! Not bad for a short tail! 😆
@@ericforrester1 NO, not bad at all :) What kind of range do you get out of the dogs in that real steep, rough rimrock stuff?
They max out at 300-400 yards and that is plenty. Honestly anything over 250 is more than I want in that stuff!
@@ericforrester1 well, save up for the new Garmin Alpha 300i...it's supposed to have an adjustable rheostat so you can control the range of the dogs (don't we wish), LOL
Eric, you could have kept the bighorn deadhead! Page 99 of the ID big game rules/regs:
"Recovery, Possession and Sale of Bighorn Sheep Horns
Horns from bighorn sheep that have died of natural causes
may be recovered and possessed. All bighorn sheep horns
must be presented to Fish and Game for marking with a
permanent pin within 30 days of recovery. It is unlawful to sell,
barter or purchase bighorn sheep horns obtained under these
circumstances, or to transfer ownership of recovered bighorn
sheep horns without a permit from Idaho Fish and Game."
Beautiful landscape, nice hunting, I enjoyed the video.
I want to know which cartridge no ( shot size) you use for chukar hunting and which choke is used for chukars.
I use 5 or 6 shot with a Improved cylinder or modified choke.
What gun are you using? Great video by the way and your dog's are amazing!
Thanks! Benelli Ethos 👍
Great stuff man.
Thanks 👍
How do you like the boss shotshells? I started using them last year and absolutely love em. Great knock down power. 2 3/4" #5 are my go to for everything from quail to geese.
I’m impressed as well. They pack a punch.
Great shooting! You hammered that double at 16:35. From what I can tell, seems like you shoot with a sustained lead. How would you describe your shooting/aiming style? Thanks again!
Point and shoot😁 Actually you right, it’s important to swing through the target.
@@ericforrester1 I wouldn't change much. You're doing very well! It just looks like you're doing sustained lead which you don't see as often as swing through. I wouldn't change anything you are doing.
I going to Montana in September fishing and hunting was curious on your trips do hunt any public land or are you hunting private this will be my first time hunting there thanks
Just a little heads up. Mountain lions often target sheep and that dead head you found looked like a lion kill to me. Be careful with you dogs when you find something like that. My buddy's dog got attacked when we were out chukar hunting a few years ago. Dog was okay but I know a guy on the Nevada chukar hunter page who's dog was killed by a lion last year.
Good to know, thanks.
How do you keep your dogs feet from getting jacked up in the rocks
Number one thing is dogs with naturally tough feet. Then Pre-conditioning(exercising on rough surfaces). Also products like Tough Foot can help.
Beautiful country and dog work. Thanks for taking us along. What loads and choke are you shooting?
I shot 5’s on this trip. I had a skeet choke but I should have used IC or M. I always forget to change them!
That was amazing, love your videos. Chukar hunt is definitely on my bucket list. What do you use for heat at nighttime.
I run a small generator and little space heater.
Low down dirty ground Slusser.
It’s called wing shooting 😎
Hey Eric, huge fan of your page. My buddy and I are heading up to Pierre, SD this fall to chase birds on public land. Coming from the east coast, so we won't have much time to scout. I was wondering if I could possibly connect with you to maybe get some guidance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is coming from some one who’s only been to Eastern SoDako 1 time in November but I recommend big cattail sloughs for public land, and ask around with locals and see if you can get permission on their land to hunt sloughs and draws!!!
Great dogs and a great hunt. Where did you get your shirt? I showed my wife your video and she said she likes the shirt.
Rural King $9.99. Only the best for me 😁
Great vid, love your channel. Can you try a Colorado pheasant hunt. It is super hard and their are few birds, but, it is great for training dogs.
I would love to hunt in Colorado someday. Beautiful state. 👍
Great video Eric! Man, you are in great shape as are your dogs! Do your dogs have any problem with worn/tender pads after a couple of days in that terrain? I remember backpacking with one of my labs in the Steens and i needed to pad and tape his feet the last day out. I didn't have dog boots with me. Thanks for the video!
Yes that terrain is brutal on feet.
Maravillosos perros y paisajes!!
Gracias!
I don't live too far from there, very rough country
Amazing video mate! :D What kind of birds are these? We hunt black grouse and capercaillie in Norway
Mostly Chukar Partridge and some Hungarian Partridge 👍
süper av olmuş. zevkle izledim. elinize sağlık.
Teşekkür ederim! Hoşladığın için memnun oldum.
Tebrikler çok güzel bir av.cok güzel bir video
Teşekkürler!
Another great video, not sure my old legs could handle that terrain? Looks kinda steep. Do you need a 12? Carry a 28 and a 20 in ND ?
I need every pellet I can get on Chukar. Everything else I’d be fine with a .410! 😁
Great dogs! What collar do you have on them? Need to order one just like it for my gsp. Thanks!
Alpha 100 with tt15’s
My dog is a flusher, do I need to worry about him running off a cliff after a bird hunting some of the steep places where chukar live?
I don’t think so. The dogs learn pretty quick that they have to be careful.
Just watching this wears my ass out.
1 of my bucket list hunts. How many days do you spend out there?
I was gone a couple weeks but only about a week of hunting.
Another awesome video! Do you have any problems with paw pads hunting that terrain?
Yes. It is brutal on the dogs feet.
Haha doggo peed in the snow
