Your editing and storytelling are what make your videos so good and unique. There are plenty of bird hunting videos on UA-cam, but very few others tell the story of the hunt like you do.
Your level of physical fitness and agility is enviable, and the dogs are a pure joy to watch. Gorgeous views from those ridge tops are worth the work to get there.
What a ride along! It couldn't have been more authentic for the viewer unless we were sitting on your shoulder!! Outstanding dogs, breathtaking panarama, and absolutely enjoyable commentary!!! 11 of 10 stars!!
You do very well for not being solely a chukar hunter in hells Canyon. The dogs and you get a lot of experience on upland birds, which is key. I would recommend going earlier in the season, though. I hunt chukar almost exclusively, being I live in the steep beautiful state of idaho 1 hour from this area. Birds are extremely weary and conditions are treacherous late season. Getting there can be life or death.
The video is top notch. Gorgeous landscape and great dog work. Don’t forget to show some footage of you picking up those empty shells. You are an influencer 😉
Hey Eric as we all know, it’s not always about the Hits & Misses…. Its about the entire experience.. and the way I see it, that hunting trip you just showed us is a total winner👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻… and as always, amazing video man! Thanks for sharing with us.
Eric, have you ever thought about making a gear dump video for the different hunts you do? Go over your choke set ups if they vary shell selection vest and contents… it’d be a cool off season video to get ready for this season
You and your dogs got to be in great shape for a hunt like that -that terrain was ruff and dangerous. Dog work was excellent and as always a great hunt video and looking forward to part 2.
Awesome! I can only imagine the difficulty traversing that steep country in the snow! Dogs looked great and birds numbers were insane! Great job man! Bring on part 2 already!!
Wow that hunt looked crazy! One day I will hunt the hellish area. We had a good year here in NorthEastern California. I love watching your dogs they are what I hope my soon to be puppy to be.
Best part of watching Eric struggle up and down Hell’s Canyon is the realization than my chukar/hun spot is a level mile long walk to a hill that is no more than 500’ tall! Great video Eric.
Review: "The Red-legged Devils of Hell's Canyon Part 1" Good gawd Eric...the only ones that belong up there on top of those mts. are the dogs, they ruled up there. Stunning habitat in tough conditions. Great hunting footage complete with 60% terrain and skybusting missed shots! Very tough shooting conditions and well filmed. This was the best of your 23-24 bird season from this couch potatoes view point. Dog work was an A+, hunter and shooting was A+ with conditions given. I have been in areas of large masses of chukar cackling...like hearing bugleing elk in rut, this brought back memories of lore for me, audio was outstanding. Hopefully there is a part 2 2024 in play. Thanks for sharing as always and rest easy, you and the pups deserve that.
Man, this is probably one of the best upland videos I’ve ever watched great camera, editing, and storytelling and watching those dogs work wow. What kennel are your dogs out of?
There were a lot of days of air stagnation in our area this year. I had those days of hard scenting conditions. Another observation I observed this year was that there were more birds than usual scent everywhere running educated birds made the dogs struggle. Coinciding with the stagnation that ran for days, no winds.
Videoların arasinda en guzel av Hells Canyon da oluyor . Sürekli bu avlakta avlan çok güzel bir yer. Tek solukta izledik. Emeğine sağlık teşekkür ederiz 🙏
I live in Cambridge. I’ve seen your pickup in town the last few years lol. I shed hunt a lot of the same stuff you’re bird hunting. I can’t believe the number of birds I see while out there. I don’t bird hunt but I’ve always thought someone would love some of them spots and looks like you do. I probably have a lot of the other sides to some of the sheds you’ve found. Maybe we’ll run into each other one of these years!!!
Heck yea man! Love it. We put out a lot of very similar videos. If you make it back to Nevada next year I would love to get together for a colab! Keep it up Eric!
Awesome video! There is definitely something alluring to hunting that steep country. It definitely stole my heart. Out of curiosity, what shotgun are you running? I can’t decide between a 12 or a 20.
Epic video as we've all come to expect from you. Nice work. Must not be any ground cactus in that area? Where I hunt them in BC, there's lots of prickly pear.. very hard on dogs..
Thank you for a great videos! I'm hunter from Tbilisi, Georgia, Caucasus and I like what I see. We are more or less the same, everywhere, I believe😊 Not sure if I will visit that plases, but if you like to travel to Georgia, I'll be happy to host you.
It’s a process of course but early on I used pigeons in launchers then I progress using other techniques while integrating whoa. I have some puppy bird intro videos on this on my Patreon page if you are interested www.patreon.com/ericforrester
Awesome video as always, Eric! I have a GPS question for you. You mentioned towards the end of the video checking your gps to make sure you were at the correct elevation, something I hadn’t heard before. Do you have a video specifically detailing how you use your gps in the field? Tips and tricks a novice like might now know?
I have many bonus videos on my Patreon page but not on GPS specifically. Knowing your elevation in relation to the dog can be very helpful in steep chukar country.
that looked like a awesome trip!! where can we get one of those ghost point hats?? it looks very nice!! those were some tough shots there, not many could do any better in that situation either!!
Awesome production as always! Are you running a garmin watch with an alpha system? Recently picked up an alpha and looking to add a watch and wondered if you have a recommendation
When you bust up a covey of chukar is it preferable to then go find the singles (if they're not in another county)? Or not they're not like quail just keep going to find another covey and fresh scenario?
Hi Eric! Great job, and great content. What settings do you use and what program for editing videos? I'm filming with Dji Osmo Action 4 in 4k/60 fps, and exporting it in 4k 60fps via Cap cut, but so many times while I'm watching it on yt I have bad resolution problems, which I do not have watching your videos...
I use a GoPro 10 4k 60 wide. Editing on iMovie. I have an entire video on filming and editing on my Patreon page if you are interested. www.patreon.com/ericforrester
Awesome video. But I don't think ide hunt that terrain alone, In that weather. It looks steep even on camera. I shattered an ankle in middle of nowhere. I was exhausted in about 50yrds trying to hop out to the closest dirt road.
I always love the Hells canyon episodes. Is there reason to wait until January, or is it just your own schedule that was the reason. Of course it would extend the season for us in the Midwest/ Great Lakes states considering most close seasons up close to Jan 1
Eric. . What time of year was this ?. January ?. Oh. And those uphill shots. Not for me anymore. Busted my ass out in SD doing it this year. Rolled 10 yrds down the hill. At 76yrs old that was stupid. Another good one Eric. Can't wait to see part 2.
What shells do you like to shoot? And are you running a modified or a full choke? The times I went out this year I wounded a lot of birds and just couldnt ever seem to knock them down.
Last couple seasons I’ve been shooting #5 at chukars. I was using IC on this trip but only because I broke my choke wrench and couldn’t change to modified.
Your editing and storytelling are what make your videos so good and unique. There are plenty of bird hunting videos on UA-cam, but very few others tell the story of the hunt like you do.
Thank you! 👊
As an Idaho resident, thanks for picking up your shells.
The reining champion of upland hunting videographers.
Riggs enthusiasm is contagious! I like it more when he tosses’em to you…😉👊🏻
"Rigs the partridge pointing rockstar" strikes again! So cool to watch!
😁 yes he did!
Your level of physical fitness and agility is enviable, and the dogs are a pure joy to watch. Gorgeous views from those ridge tops are worth the work to get there.
Thanks!
Hunting and recording in that territory- you're amazing! Your work makes the experience real for us viewers! You're the Spiellberg of bird recording!
Wow thanks! 👊
I love late season hunts like this. Especially when they are all on the sunny slope it can get chaotic lol.
That terrain!!! My goodness! I need a nap just watching! lol. Great content!
😆👍
What a ride along! It couldn't have been more authentic for the viewer unless we were sitting on your shoulder!! Outstanding dogs, breathtaking panarama, and absolutely enjoyable commentary!!! 11 of 10 stars!!

That huge leap Riggs made across the little ravine was awesome, great vid bro
Thanks 👊
Hands down the BEST chukar hunting video I’ve ever seen!
So cool, thanks! 👊

It’s insane how much they wait for you to slip to jump up! Great dog work from Riggs on adjusting!
Great video, beautiful scenery and wonderful dog work! Thanks
Thank you!
Loved this video the field is mesmerizing, your pointers are amazing and your video recording and editing makes it more beautiful, overall 10/10 ❤️

Snow days, are often good days! Thanks for sharing.
Great video!!!
You earned your birds for sure.

😁 That’s the kind of spot you hunt when you know better! I don’t run into any locals in these spots.
Great video…especially the dogs!
Thanks!
Great video and dog work Eric!
That is some Hella Country there! CRAZY!
WOW!
I can't wait for Pt 2!
Thanks!

It seems like the easy shots are the ones that are missed the most. I can relate to that big time!

Terrific video, Eric! Boy, those were very tough conditions. Thanks for sharing!

brillant video!
Great hunt eric, I've never hunted chucker, looks like fun. Over and under my friend. No semi
If you had ever hunted chukar you wouldn’t say no semi. 😉
Great, as always!
Crazy as a chukar hunter. Great video
It's unlike you to miss birds. Man I feel your pain. Great hunt and video!
Hat's off amazing hunt.
Les densités sont incroyables…bravo aux chiens et au chasseur dans ces paysages rudes et fantastiques
merci!
Love your clean content. Can you do some videos of your favorite Chucker recipes someday? 💥🪶😊
Man, this is probably one of the best upland videos I’ve ever watched great camera, editing, and storytelling and watching those dogs work wow. What kennel are your dogs out of?
I guess I should’ve waited till the video was over to ask about the dogs lol you have a short hair too also right?
😁 yep…they are from my kennel ghostpointwirehairs.com. All are wirehairs but Tubbs has a slick coat.
There were a lot of days of air stagnation in our area this year. I had those days of hard scenting conditions. Another observation I observed this year was that there were more birds than usual scent everywhere running educated birds made the dogs struggle. Exactly my experience as well. There were several factors that made for some difficult conditions for the dogs.
Great video! be sure your in-reach subscription is up to date in that type of conditions
Definitely 👍
Tank you Eric .Süpeeeer
Always make it look easy, tuff country to hunt.
Amazing content as always Eric, keep it up

GoPro 10
@@ericforrester1 🤝
My guess on scenting conditions, there are so many birds, the dogs are having a hard time distinguishinging old from new

While the hunting conditions were tough, they sure were picturesque. What shot size/choke do you use for chukars?
On this trip I shot #5 and improved cylinder. I wanted to shoot Modified but I broke my choke wrench trying to change it.
Great video man. What is your camera setup?
Just a GoPro 10 on a head strap
Hey brother, what’s your garmin watch. This looks like a great way to track your pup without having to constantly use the gps.
It’s an Instinct
Awesome production as always! Are you running a garmin watch with an alpha system? Recently picked up an alpha and looking to add a watch and wondered if you have a recommendation
Yes, I run an Instinct watch with my Alpha and like it.
When you bust up a covey of chukar is it preferable to then go find the singles (if they're not in another county)? Or not they're not like quail just keep going to find another covey and fresh scenario?
I don’t think of chukar the same way as I might valley quail or gambels. However, single chukar do hold better just as their quail cousins do.
Awesome video and amazing landscape. What shotgun are you using?
Benelli Ethos 12ga
You can see the shed at 10:09 of the video

Still working out the kinks with it. There were a couple shots in this video and a few more to come in the next episodes.

How many dogs do you have? What are their names?
Cici Tubbs Twigg Savvy Riggs Stormy Motley and Z.
