I've always admired Robby Krieger since 25 years ago, he's my favorite guitarist, and I must say that you are the best imitator of his style I've ever seen. You have perhaps the same fingerstyle technique and almost perfectly reproduce his modal style inspired by John Coltrane's free modal jazz. I would appreciate a video focussed only on the double psychedelic solo: one on left channel and one of right channel, just like on the original record. Even your long fingers look a lot like those of Krieger !
very well done, in isolation the guitar track is just as good as the organ track no doubt about it, two geniuses one on keyboard and one on guitar that is why they were so good
My name is Robby, I play a Gibson SG Standard, maestro fuzz, wah and 65 twin reverb, I’m 14 and I picked up a guitar and all this gear cus of Robby and your videos taught me how to play his songs
Damn great solo you mastered it, my favorite rock solo of all time, am a singer and really got off on your playing ...wish I had you as a guitarist when I do the Doors....tops my man
You really have captured that doors sound. Well done sir. Pleasure to listen to you play. You bring us all back to a time when everything was easier, happier, much more simple.
Holy shit man that was awesome. Respect to you and Robby Krieger for coming up with this part of the song. I always like the guitar in Doors songs. It's always so understated yet masterfully played.
I was a teenager at that time and The Doors were my favorite. Listened to them a lot. Really enjoy watching you play Robby. Thanks .. you are an inspiration. Grab my guitar and maybe try and copy a bit of this.
A believe in the live in Europe television performances in black and white..the version Robby is playing on that 2nd solo is similar to this one (studio version) expect for the ending of the solo, he walks up on what seems to be the low A or E strings resolving with an open low E note, which would be around 9:30 here. I'll find the clip and link it. It's always been so satisfying to watch. I'd love to learn that version Robby played at that gig.
So cool,uS. The stunted notes after the second "Save Us" are so punctuated & seemingly random(but in key) it creates unpredictable force. To me the whole song is expression without restraint. Beautiful. I've tried so hard to discredit the Doors but this song is just remarkable.

It's really quite easy, isn't it ? Robby really likes his vertical hammer-ons ; they define his style. I just don't think I could stand living with dracula-like fingernails all my life.
Is Robby using any particular scales in these solos? I know that for the most part in this song he's playing E minor pentatonic... but what about the solos? It's weird, trippy.. yet amazing as hell.. IMO this is one of the most unique type of playing I've ever heard... even by todays standards...
It's not too hard I'm still working on it though. The later part on the low E string where Jim sings Persian Nights is similar played off the open string. Basically with the first solo just play the open B and slide up to the notes that sound right. Look at the part around 3:38 when he does the pull up from the 10th to 11th fret on the E and does the same pattern on B G D and A then he runs it back up. Robbie used this pattern I've never seen anyone else do it. Listen to Shaman Blues the whole song is based on that pattern in different positions.
i use an amp. Fender Champion 100. For the solo i use "little big muff" distortion. amp setting: i use the clean channel, bass 4, full treble, with a little reverb.

That's probably one of the best covers of this song I've seen hands down.
very well done, in isolation the guitar track is just as good as the organ track no doubt about it, two geniuses one on keyboard and one on guitar that is why they were so good

Hey man what did you do to achieve the sound for the solo ? amp settings?
i use an amp. Fender Champion 100. For the solo i use "little big muff" distortion.
amp setting: i use the clean channel, bass 4, full treble, with a little reverb.
+The unknown Soldier cheers mate😀
Alex Escobedo .
Sei un genio
oh wow, I know what im gpoing to be doing for a few hours tomorrow now
Dude that’s amazing what pedal did you use for the solo? Was it the same kind Robby Krieger used or a new imitation? It sounds just like the song
Dont take off your t-shirt .. keep on playing man....
Hi I recently learned this song. You did great and do better on the solo than me but I plan on improving it. Keep it up.
