The Doors channel is the official UA-cam home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.
I’m a 76 year old female. The Doors is my go to group all the time. Every Friday I clean the house listing to The Doors along having a couple glasses of wine. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Hi Joann. I’m a 68 yo female who also loves the Doors. Just a mere 13 yo when the summer of love was around and Light My Fire was the best song on the radio! Rushed out to get my copy of the album that summer! Now retired in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and lovin’ life! What about you!
I'm a 53 yr old dude who started listening to the doors in 1980. No band like them
I'm a 57 year old guy from India who started listening to the doors and even bought a few Vinyl Records in late 70's

@@vickiladu6755 did you ever get to see them live? I wasn't born until 74 but fell in love with the doors in 1985 from the very 1st time I heard them.light my fire is also my favourite
That organ intro. That guitar. Those drums. Those Morrison screams. Immortal.
The screams are the best part in my opinion. When he yells "we want the world and we want it...now...noW...NOW!" It sends goosebumps down my spine. No speaker in the world is loud enough for Jim Morrison and his amazing voice.
@@ehxjsjd4553 Without the instrumental, the screams were not funny.
Nothing like it
That's on a lot of their songs. That's why it _lit their fire in 1967._ Classic organ beginnings!
I think that's why he wanted to die. To be immortal.
Yeah, let's start a band with a jazz drummer, dominating organ, a slide guitarist and a poet. Genius. They added the attitude and grove. Spectacular.
It was so beatnik it worked

even though the doors were/are really famous, i still have the feeling they're so underappreciated. they've made masterpieces which people aren't acknowledging enough.
That is so true. Also Robert Smith is a genius as well.
morrissey too
damn right... 1969's The Soft Parade is a prime example. This album is just as good as the others though I can see why people may find it harder to listen to... maybe 😂 I'm biased cause Doors albums, live shows & bootlegs are amongst the few things that keep blood pumping through me veins 😂 Blues is one of the others.
I think everybody that at least read and listen a few about the doors will get a perception of what they were and how they thought. The doors is more than a band , I mean,, their music, lyrics, soul, voice...and especially the vocalist, a person that we will never know at all.
Not to mention they were only a band for some 6-7 years, made quite an impact in a short while
Ray’s talent was unbelievable. Man is literally playing the bass line on one keyboard with one hand and the organ with the other hand at the same time. You know how hard that is?
Right
Pretty sweet
He was a genious about it !! 👍💪💪
I believe in one of the interviews he said you really have to study your instrument (and learn to play it)
I can't even imagine, I like Ray he was Jims friend bandmate and protector. So talented, there is no other like him.and his heavenly music.🎶💝🙏🏻🎹
My favourite part about the Doors is how they use silence to enhance their sound. Nowadays its all about loudness war for sake of radio play so all modern songs sound consistent and same. Silence and void in music is so underrated element
❤❤❤
Dude, I understand what you're saying, but there's no need to criticize pop music.
It would be cool to have a time machine. Have a duet with Morisson and Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star. They have a way of singing that is very solemn.
agree 100% cheers
they had been jamming songs out to Jim's lyrics; the Doors found dynamics to pump up his stories
it really saddens me that no ones makes Music like this anymore

I'm 22 and I'll feel forever cheated that I was born so late. Their music, his voice, speaks to me in ways nothing modern ever could. I miss him terribly. When you listen to someones voice, it's as if you're conversing with them on some kind of higher plane. Perhaps it's kindred, or maybe it's world spirit - why is it I feel the most content when I'm in the presence of Jim's voice?
Yeah I wish I could travel back to the 60s or 70s and just live my life from there.

This performance really showcases Morrison's mastery of the audience. This was the opening song of this show, which was obviously a huge deal to them. You can see people are still milling around and getting to their seats and generally not paying attention. A few minutes in and he has the crowd won over and hanging on every word. What a legend.

"When The Music’s Over" by The Doors is a sound epic. Almost 11 minutes long, the music transcends the limits of rock, exploring the psychedelic and poetic. Jim Morrison’s fiery voice guides listeners through an intense and reflective journey, leaving an indelible mark.
No fancy stage, flames, trick ponies or special lights, etc, just great music, by phenomenal musicians.

@@MattLullenberg Don’t, be. We had the worst seats behind the stage. All I remember is attending the concert with my buddies. We were too young to appreciate a lyrical genius at work. The following year we would see Jimi Hendrix at work. We boomers were fortunate enough to see musical history in progress. My favorite concert was New Riders of the Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and the Grateful Dead. A very small crowd meant we were able to sit on the floor directly in front of the stage. I’ll remember that concert until the day I die.
What can you remember of that show.

I was working in Paris in 1995 I decided to visit Morrison's grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery. It was early Sunday morning. I found his grave. Wow. This version is epic.
we weren't born at that legendary age, but our job now is to not let this music die!!
Why would it die? What are we looking out for. Asking for a friend that is worried lol
Man the 60s were WILDDD!!! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE🙆✨✌️
That 2nd scream after he says "now" blows me away! Absolutely incredible 😍
John Densmore is the most under appreciated drummer from the 60’s. Everyone thinks Bonham, Mitchell and Ginger Baker… but never saw them play such exact jazz beats like him. Mike Schrieve from Santana might be up there, but Densmore is definitely my personal favorite.
I would say..one of the greatest...but hands down most patient drummers of all time..my God setting and reacting to the most eccentric front man of all time..what an honorable and challenging task..kudos Densmore!! One of the greats of all time!!
He just never collaborated with Jimbo
13 MIN OF MUSIC MASTERY,
AMAZING ,CLASSIC,
LEGENDARY
This performance is mind blowing. Damn Ray was a killer!
Jim was a musician& poet! All rolled into one! What other singer can say that!? None! A true shaman!
Genius. Preserved on film.
I fell sorry for people who go their whole lives and never see this.
I can’t even say how beautiful this video is.
Just stop for a second and admire what ray did in 11:02 … pure beauty
nice catch dude! Beautiful!!!
Breaks my heart everytime I think there wont be another band like The Doors and there wont be a Poetic Genius called Jim Morrison again.
So ahead of even the hippie culture at the time. Priceless !
I love this song!!! 09:35 "...we want the world..."
Jim really had an incredible voice for a young guy who was probably only 25 or 26 at the time. Not to even mention his theatrical stage presence….
Jim died (or did he?) in 1971 at the age of 27. He was about 24 here.
@@ryankane7177fuck man im 24 and look like a lil boy compared to jim 😂😂
