let me just add here that in addition to what a monumental classic this tune is in and of itself i mite also add its use in 'APOCALYPSE NOW' was equally incredible both auditorially and visually. as if the tune itself could ever be matched on a screen to what's heard on record COPOLLA pulled it off in spades.

There is no tremolo effect on Robby's guitar, on the original recording. Just a very heavy reverb. The tremolo effect is on the organ part played by Ray. Robby's tone is beautifully clear and wispy with the reverb trails, not choppy like it is here.
