Excellent your review, highlighting most of the fabulous positive attributes of this fine helicopter. As a former Viet Nam combat assault Huey pilot, really enjoyed the low-level-terrain-following and thanks for switching to 3D mode. Fine job!

Altitude Recovery Feature: As demonstrated by this reviewer, the "3D Mode" allows the slightly more adventurous pilots, who want to practice more advanced maneuvers to simply flip the switch to 3D mode and fly like any fine helicopter on the market-----but this one allows you to do that STRESS FREE! It's called "altitude recovery". I'll explain, hopefully, with as much enthusiasm as our UA-cam host exhibited.

This new feature, "altitude recovery", is found in the latest version of the Fly Wing software (version 2.0, downloadable from the Fly Wing website): You preset a desired altitude in the software where the helicopter AUTOMATICALLY switches back to GPS mode from 3D mode when you drop below a selected, preset altitude--without having to fumble for the GPS mode switch! In practice, it goes like this: pilot is trying some new maneuver in 3D mode (above 20' is a reasonable, preset, "safe" altitude barrier) and, if he's like this old veteran, makes the inevitable screw up, loses orientation, brain goes to mush and this beautiful Huey is about to poke a huge, smoking hole in the jungle.......but wait: As soon as the out-of-control helicopter drops below the preset 20', it AUTOMATICALLY switches back to GPS mode and stabilizes, hands off, saving the aircraft. Extraordinary! Amazing!
(This new software update can be applied to any of the FW450's--even earlier versions--not just the Huey, Airwolf or v.3 stock pod & boom.)
We've been waiting for this "safe altitude recovery barrier" for years and Fly Wing has done it successfully. What a spectacular achievement!
(It should be noted that when you switch from GPS to 3D mode, in hover or flight, there is a noticeable drop in altitude. Always apply up-pressure on the collective as you flip the switch.)
PLEASE emphasize this incredible new "altitude recovery" feature in all of your FW450 reviews. It's truly revolutionary!
    Thanks,
    Steve Tillson

Great review, I wish you would have ran it again without the camera to see if that was the cause. I really want to get this. Already planning to paint the greenhouse windows and putting a cross on the nose. In doing research, the 57th Med, flew the B in ‘64.

I have the Flywing Huey and airwolf. I do have both rotor head speed at 100% and max speed in sport mode.

Well got the v4 (white/grey). Bench tested with no blades noticed some wobble. Flight test with blades had major death wobble so bad set it down. Second attempt to take off the heli wobbled to were it leaned over on level ground and blade made contact w/ ground. Chipped blade near head from contact of head and pulled bolt through 3d printed rod. So far not impressed at all. Any fixes to the death wobble as I think it’s a software issue in settings? A video of how to go into those settings would be a huge views and helpful to so many of us with the death wobble issue on the new v4s 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why does the one you have have a black cart while the one on the flyzone site has a white cart?

I have the Bell 206 four blad and the Sport 450L in green. Now I have just purchased this Huey as well, as these are just fun heli's and I love the GPS option for a bailout. Nice demo, I will increase my head speed to ensure it smooths out the aircraft and I plan to put a micro camera in the canopy for some realistic shots. Nice Video.

Can someone do a video on how to get into the software and change the setting to achieve smooth flight. My new v4 has extreme death wobble. Ended up damaging blades has like 2 minutes of flight time on it. Trying to land or control a spool up with the death wobble is doom waiting to happen

Best headspeed for the 2 blade is 65% with a Swash gain of 20% or 70% headspeed with 25% Swash gain. 4 bladed version 50-60% headspeed. These recommendations are from Fly Wing themselves. I had the 4 blade at 70% and the esc failed after 3 flights... Its a common problem with higher headspeeds on this model....
    Great Video 👍

@@Tucker_T great tip thanks for the info. You had a beautiful first flight. I watched your most recent video wanted leave comment on this comment and your flight but your comments are turned off 👍🏼 yours didn’t seem to have any tail waggle. I’m wondering if it’s just the camera that did it on this heli in this video.

@thatsmyrc most welcome, I didn't realise my comments were off, I'm new to uploading videos so don't know what I'm doing! Lol Ill try to rectify... The camera might well have caused the issue but I have seen other people use the same camera in the same place without issue....Although they may have adjusted tail authority to compensate... ?
P.s I'm yet to try lower headspeed but this was info supplied tp me by Wang @ FlyWing 👍

Thank you for your unbiased review of the version 4 of the Uh-1. For the money, I'll pass on this one. For my money and a bit cheaper is the BNF version of that Yu Xiang Apache that you show there which IMO flies much better than the Fly Wing version. Memories, in 1965 I bailed out of one of the older versions of the UH-1 that were stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Well I received the uh1 on Friday… this is my first helicopter. I also have that tail Bob, what’s strange is when I put the nose into the wind it bobs really bad, but when I turn it from a hover away from the wind it calms down… any suggestions?

Ever find a fix? I have a v4 out of box had same issues called the death wobble ended up damaging my blades from soft contact to ground. As it spooled up for take off wobbled it so bad even on emergency shut off it still have enough spool to wobble heli on its side and blade hit ground

Did I understand correctly that you recommend 100% rotor speed for a 2-blade rotor? And then about 80 for a 4-blade rotor....That would of course reduce the flight time. Does that make the flight more pleasant...more controllable? I just want to understand that🤔...I already have the V4, but haven't flown it yet. I'm waiting for a new fuselage because it was delivered damaged 🙄

    • @thatsmyrc

My new v4 had extreme death wobble. Enough on test flight to do minor damage which now I need new blades as they made contact to ground as the wobbling was almost uncontrollable ☠️🥴

Bought one and the death wobble was so extremely bad on first test flight it ended up causing damage to a brand new heli. It’s got to be an issue in settings in software.

    • @ccbusa05

The blade tension on this model cannot be adjusted. They a 100% screwed on tight with the new rotor head scheme. A real bummer, IMO!
