In 2005 I went to the Laugh Factory just to check it out. There was a line down and around the block. Dane was doing meet and greets of everyone who got in line. I’ve never seen a comic do that....Dane Cook is a great comic, he just exploded so fast and was putting out material so quickly that I think it would have benifited his act to slow the release of his material by six months to a year. But at bye same time, you never know when these opportunities will come again, so maybe you just do them while you can.

I met Dane in Cinci at a pre-show meet and greet. What an amazing man behind the scenes. I love this guy's character. SO nice.
I gotta say, for me, I did dig Dane Cook for a bit when I was young. But I did realize that he was not so much about joke structure, but he WAS different! He was the guy who just told stories like a frat bro and it kinda worked a bit. I do understand why he became famous. But it was limited. And he loves carlin, which is cool! Hell, I am a musician who loves many hands but I know I could never hold a candle to them! So yea, I can understand falling out of love with or hating dane's early work (I don't know about his latest work). But ultimately I do think he's potentially a good guy and just loves to smile.

I hope he sees this comment. I honestly do not understand the hate towards him. Plus he is a totally likeable guy, most people don't have the guts to say what he did in this interview. It's the standard thing when something gets popular it's cool to dislike it. When it comes to music that's usually valid, but I feel with this guy it wasn't justifiable.

Always been a fan and always will be. Dane Cook is the only comedian I know who had fans that pretended they never like his comedy when he was on the out. It was cool to like Dance Cook in mid to late 2000's and then when it wasn't, so people stopped mentioning him when they talked about what comics they liked.
I never stopped loving Dane's comedy, I miss him.

I'm a huge consumer of comedy and own about 200 albums. I have all of Doug Stanhope's albums and Bill Hicks and cycle through them regularly. Once in a while and increasing lately, I'll cycle through my Dane Cook albums. His delivery is different, but he rips apart society and people in a similar and intelligent way to other great comedians. Dare I say he delivers it better as well. Some of those other comedians had some down time in their sets due to delivery style. Dane Cook didn't bore in between his insights. A true craftsman.

Dame Cook was the first comedian that I could understand in English and I was laughing like crazy. Vicious Circle in HBO made me super happy. Since then it was pure love and admiration

Was wondering how far in the comments I was gonna have to look before seeing someone else who noticed that. Not that far it turns out! Met those guys once when my friends band did a show with them and Deicide and sorry to say they kinda treated our crew like assholes, but I still like their music anyway. Maybe they were having a bad day who knows, but they should still treat their opening act with some respect. Deicide and their crew was cool as hell so I don't know what their problem was.

The difference a healthy lifestyle makes. Ryan’s been a healthy eater and goes to the gym regularly. Dane wasn’t fat, but was never really in athletic shape, and probably didn’t go out of his way to maintain a strict diet either.
And John Goodman is a bit thinner these days....

Nice to hear about the shyness thing. I was shy as hell growing up. Now we all have negative qualities, but they make us who we are. The only negative quality I would have changed about myself is being shy. I missed out on so much in life, and I hated being shy. But it goes away as you get older and you stop caring about stupid crap, it went further away after being in the Army and especially after coming back from Iraq. Also drugs will make it go away, for me its a legal prescription for chronic pain from an injury in Iraq.

I havent seen the latest special, but Dane was on my list of comedians that I looked forward to getting older and their material evolving and changing. Hope he makes the change...and I'm willing to give him multiple years. Carlin didn't hit cruising altitude until his 50's.
I also did not expect chapelle to become what he became as an older man, and I love it. Hope Dane's new material can be held in same regard as Chappelle's newer stuff.

oh this is cool news. i was a HUGE dane cook fan back in highschool/college, so it's nice to hear he's back on tour. I wonder how he's gonna be this time now that he's trying to tone down the "animated" style he used to have. even though people gave him shit for being so "animated", i thought it was hilarioud. The tough thing about stand-up comedy is that love/hate relationship comics have with their own need to please is part of what makes them.successful. Does that mean you cannot be well-adjusted and a successful stand-up comedian at the same time?
