      It's not just about richness. I grew up poor, I'm currently doing okay but not well off by any means. Financial anxiety generally has me push any thought of finances, bills, etc completely out of my head. I used to never check my bank account, talking 1-2 years without checking. And I often had a sinking feeling that I had no money in the bank, but when I inevitably checked it had only grown of course. Because I grew up poor I just live extremely frugally. Had $300 rent and almost no other bills, so my weekly $500 paycheck meant I didn't really have to look at my accounts. It's taken years to break these habits and I still struggle to check into my finances

    Man do I feel this. It's crazy how family can betray you. My mother cheated on my father and left him for another man but they never divorced, 2 years later he passed in a car accident. He had taken her off his life insurance policy and added me, left everything else to me including his house and she tried to take me to court over it! She demanded I let her and her boyfriend live in his house rent free even though my Grandmother was living there as my dad had moved her in and she wanted me to kick her out! She also wanted half of his life insurance. If only you knew all the terrible things she said and tried to do. She even tried to go to the bank the day AFTER he died and tried to get back into his account! Thankfully he had taken her off all the accounts but she tried to say because they were still technically married (which they were although legally separated) that I needed to give her everything. Even his personal things.
    I don't speak to her anymore.

      Y'all's family situations suck, I'm sorry. Never tell others, especially whom you don't know, that they shouldn't do something based on your narrow experience. People often forget how separated their life experience is from another to the next. There are good families who love and trust one another, and there are broken families. Coming from two families that split, my mother's family is a dysfunctional cesspool of negativity and malice, whilst my dad's family is loving, trusting, and hold no judgement towards one another. I trust those people with my life and belongings, as for my mother's side, I can't say the same. Just because your circumstance led you to that conclusion, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Humans are tribal by nature, and family is, probably, the most accessible tribe to be a part of. Don't forget the capacity for humanity; especially the millions of facets of it that you have not, and most likely, will not experience. The internet can and will only do so much for it's user in our search for understanding and I truly believe we, as a general populous, often fail to consider that. Just a thought. It's hard to make such a claim. I wonder how bad the Jews or China would treat your money? Maybe even your local church?

      Honestly I think that he and she applied the context to themselves without speaking, ironically showing they aren’t precisely sociopaths. Even if they have chameleon tendencies. I think they experienced some stuff that made them a little more capable of finding that place. Where their emotions for whatever reason aren’t lining up correctly. Happens with trauma, where it makes it difficult to feel the emotions of a stressful situation directly. Or feeling the wrong emotion. Disassociation. Or depersonalization. And in those states you don’t or can’t process emotions correctly. Add in some bad habits, like lying or some other coping mechanism in youth. Yeah the joke that Tom is a sociopath isn’t without merit. But he wouldn’t see how that story related to him if he was.

      @Not Robot So you think it's poetic justice for borrowing one or two jokes? I don't like Dane Cooks comedy much but 99% of the material he does is his. I actually watched the Louis episode where he and Dane discuss Dane borrowing his joke without realising he'd taken it. I mean think about it dude why would Dane steal a joke from his friend and put it on an album? Makes no sense that he would do that intentionally unless there was beef and Louis was rumoured to be harsh on male comedians who were good looking so maybe Dane took it after Louis roasted him a little too hard? I'd buy that more than Dane Cooks is an evil talentless hack who deserves to have his money stolen by his own brother.
      BTW joke theft has been happening since the dawn of stand-up and will only get worse now as everyone thinks they're a comedian on social media so it's easier than ever. I bet even your favorite comedian stole a joke and you don't even realise it

      The implications made here (and all over these comments) that family members are more likely to "fuck you over" and even worse than friends or strangers is just ridiculous. Does it happen? Of course. But, these implications flying around are just silly. My family is pretty toxic, but no one's ever stolen from me, or anything close to that, etc. Friends sure have. I understand that's just colloquial evidence, but no friends I've ever had walked around talking about how exploited they were by their family. You people seem like you're not really thinking very much about what you're saying...and though it sounds like It, I'm not trying to be disrespectful.

And during the past year while renting the car he bought a older work truck, put some new wheels on it and drove it once. And all the while he is still saying he is going to just go buy a new car and get rid of the rental any day now. Its almost unbelievable. • @rdooski
      @rdooski 4 роки тому +2

      @Thomas Foster Saying "don't be happy for someone/yourself because other people have it better" is not alike. Its why you never hear anyone say it. Good is the exact opposite of bad. There is nothing wrong with feeling empathy for someone, but different levels of hardship do deserve different levels of empathy. I didn't want it though, I was just saying dont waste it on him. Someone who stubbed their toe and someone who broke their neck dont deserve the same amount, and you shouldn't waste any on the person with a hurt toe. In this situation though I was saying he didn't deserve it because it was a fairly normal situation. Most people his age have parents who have passed away and probably a sibling who has stolen from them too. I wasn't "using the shit things that happened to me to detract from the shit things that happen to other people." I was using the little worse than normal things that happened to me show the normal + great things that happened to him didnt deserve empathy. Be happy for someone who still has their parents and good siblings not sad for people who dont. And be happy for Dane for all the great things that have happened to him not sad for the bad/normal things that happened. When you have something bad happen think about how worse it could have been, then you can be grateful for the bad thing. Some call it "always looking on the bright side".
