I'm super interested in the Console 1. Would you say the Fader 1 is a must too? Or is it better to use the Console 1 and another DAW controller such as the SSL UF8, Faderport 16 and the X-Touch etc... I feel that having no readout screens over the faders on the Fader 1 is a disadvantage. The pro of the Fader 1 is tighter integration and also looks gorgeous, but is only 10 faders and no readouts whereas I could have a X-Touch with Expander(s) and have 16+ faders with readouts and way better transport controls but then I fear with a normal DAW controller you perhaps miss being able to see at a glance how much lo/hi cut or send level is applied to each channel (is that possible with a normal DAW controller? as in the Console 1 allowing that to happen in a non Fader 1 device?)

    1) I got mine when it came out, and was $1000. Which was amazingly cheap for an SSL4K Emulation with HANDS ON CONTROL. Then a couple of NAMMs later, they cut the price in HALF!!!
    2) The reason I pulled the trigger, was a very important figure at SSL, who was involved in everything they've done since the early eighties told me at NAB that Softube's Emulations of both consoles were probably the best of them all, and 'much better than Duende' which is SSL's own emulation. Also that Softube Emulated the best parts of the best desks in the world, and probably no existing desk sounds as good. High Praise, I was sold, and haven't looked back since.
    3) In terms of both Sound and Workflow, I can't believe more people haven't gotten on board yet, even if all they got was the base model and the 4K.
    4) At the same NAMM that they cut the price in half, to $500 bucks, they also announced their partnership with Universal Audio to Insert a ton of UA Plugins, into the Console, mapped to all the knobs. That made the thing that much more valuable.
    5) Shortly after that they announced that their partnership with UA led to Apollo Central, which let the Hardware switch back and forth between controlling Softube Console 1, and UA Console. I can't express how much this made UA Console into and ACTUAL CONSOLE for tracking, with most of what you need in a real session.
    6) Then they finally gave us Faders, in buckets of 10, and with a bunch of additional feature, but they also mapped that to UA Console. So my plan (depending on how armageddon turns out) is to get 2 Fader units, 1 to the left, 1 to the right of the Channel Strip unit. Those 20 faders map to and bank with the 20 track buttons on the main unit beautifully, I made them set it up for me at NAMM this year. (as an aside, the 3 units are the same width as my 32-Channel analog console, and will e built into a custom desk. eventually)
    7) finally, the biggest announcement at NAMM2020 was Universal Audio LUNA, which replaces and expands upon UA Console, and is FREE. Both the UA people and the Softube people, while not officially stating it, assured me that Console 1 will work with LUNA. "You'll be very happy". And LUNA just dropped yesterday.

Thanks for your comments here G! Glad to see people are watching the video and that I'm not out of my mind for making them :)
Regarding #3: Totally agree. I guess either people don't get it, aren't exposed to it, or something because after I got mine, even with as little as I actually get to do with it in my own situation, I completely see the value and recommend it to anyone who will listen.
I am about to do another video about something related to the unit, maybe a drum mix walkthrough or something. Got ideas? I'd love to hear them. Spread the work about the Console 1. It really is awesome.
      Thanks again for your comments!

      @@BladesMusic Keep em coming!
BTW how do you like the integration of C1 with Studio One. I've been digging deeper into Reaper mostly because of C1s full integration with it, and S1 is the other DAW that gives the hardware access to the Mixers pan fader mute solo etc, as opposed to just the plugins.
Studio One seems to have come a long way, and Presonus in general have been killing it lately. (The Studio Live 32S or 64S as an Interface and Control Surface and Fat Channel DSP processor is very intriguing. Then it's still a live console for those gigs.)

Just rewatching this video and you're final point answered my question.
      Sorry.
New Qs: you have a Faderport 8 I believe, so that should be well mapped to S1. Does the C1 channel follow the S1 channel when you touch a fader. I believe it can be set up to do so. And can the 20 buttons on C1 call up a channel in S1? Also, ergonomically how do those two units plus keyboard fit on your desk and hand placement workflow?

Annnnddd, the Studio Live consoles, in DAW controller mode, give you 32 faders, sweet. Plus though, I believe that you get direct buttons and knobs to call up the Fat Channel from each channel, much like the Console 1. So depending on how much you like those plugins, I hear they're really good now, and they've emulated a bunch of classics, could be a great centerpiece to go along with Console 1. Beyond being an actual mixer handling all of those duties at the press of a button.
      Thinking out loud

@@G_handle Yes - I have the Faderport 8. When you Select a channel on the Faderport, the Console 1 follows. If you touch a fader, it doesn't. But neither does the Faderport iteself. I suppose that makes sense, since you can adjust multiple faders at once on the Faderport 8 (kind of the point, right?). So, if you either Select the channel on the Faderport, the Console 1 jumps to that channel or if you click on the screen, the Console 1 follows - then you press down on the "encoder knob" on the Faderport and it jumps the FP to that channel as well. I hope that makes sense.
As for the buttons on the C1 - yes, as long as the C1 plugin is assigned to the channel, pressing the button on the C1 selects the same channel in both Studio One and on the FP8.
As for how they all fit in: I have the C1 in front and to the right, the FP8 in front and to the left, and the PC Keyboard on a tray below both. I also have an Edirol PCR-800 that sits to my left that I have the master volume mapped to so I don't have to give up a channel on the FP8 for it. It's pretty intuitive, but like anything, you have to get it in your workflow to make it work for you. There are SO many options as to which thing controls what! :)
I hope this answers the questions.

Soft plastic goes bad over time. I have AlphaTrack controller. The plastic has become kinda sticky. I don't know why but it has. You might be better off with the hard plastic.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah - I suppose that's possible. We'll have to see how this goes over time. It doesn't really "bother" me on the Console 1, just that on first use, I prefer the feel and silence of the Faderport 8 buttons. Either way, still just a nit to pick, really. I'm fortunate to have both items in my place!

I'm considering getting one of these as an S1 user. Can you show a setup video for us new to the gear

Hmm. I've been trying to think of what my next video will be. I'll definitely add this to the list. It's pretty straightforward, but I think it could be useful. I'm sure there are others out there, but maybe I can add something to what is already on offer.
