    Great video 👍 I have been using studio one for years and didn't realize how cool and helpful it would be to use a faderport! Thanks for the insight. You got my sub 😁

      Glad it was helpful! I really didn't think I would get as much use of the FaderPort 8 either, having used a Behringer BCF2000 for years with Cakewalk - at least it was connected - but I rarely used it because it wasn't a full integration, but I think mostly because it had no real labels, so I tended not to use it in my regular workflow. Keep your eye on eBay! That's how I found mine, brand new, for like $360 or something - a great discount. Thanks for the comment and the sub!

    Excellent video! Very useful info... I have had the FP16 for about a year and have been fumbling around with it... I recently re-designed my "studio" to make it more functional for me with the FP as the centerpiece Did a search and this vid came up... Now I do not have to have my keyboard next to the FP and it is much easier to navigate Studio One...
    Thank you!

    I have the mixer StudioLive 32 SC series iii. 16 inputs on back. Expandable to 32. I think DAW mode allows you to do all this same stuff as the fader port add-ons. You should be able to use the fader port to mix in UC (Universal Control) if say you were using the rack mount version mixers that only have the ins and outs with no faders. Pretty cool honestly. Good video with the review and showing everyone really how easy it all can be.

    • @BladesMusic
      @BladesMusic  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks Rick. Yeah, I think a lot of the features are shared over to the Mixers, with the mixers obviously having features that the FaderPort units don't. I don't have the room or really the need for the mixer type, but they are appealing, for sure. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    It seems like reason 5 works like a DCA but gives options for individual tracks. I learned digital mixing on a presonus 32 and then moved onto the X32. I later took what I learned on the X32 and worked on a Midas Pro 48 I think? Very similar. I’m about to hook up my new faderport this weekend for my home studio and I’m really excited. Thanks for the video and I look forward to mixing in the studio in similar ways as live using Behringer or Midas. ✌🏻❤️

    The value of the marker mode is that as your LISTENING to a track, you may want to “mark” sections that have problems. Things you may want to go back and find and work on. Prior to the Faderport you could do this with the Y hot key but it’s nice to have it on the Faderport.

    • @BladesMusic
      @BladesMusic  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment, David. Yeah - maybe it's time to rework my workflow with the Marker track. Back in the day, there were no other ways to "mark" the song sections and I always used this marker area for that. I've started to use the arranger track for the song sections instead. I could navigate the sections of the song on "Section" mode on the Faderport rather than using Marker mode for this. With that workflow, I can see how dropping markers for "trouble spots" or whatever more on the fly could be useful in a more generic way, obviating the need for the typing part. I've heard of people using the marker track for cues as well, such as a lyric or other reminder (which of course would require typing). Thanks for watching and again for the comment!

    Great video and extremely helpful, thanks Blades! Now to figure out how to get this faderport into my workflow. I also use atom controllers, but less so for the navigation around studio one, I don't like the menu diving in the atom sq for example. I really like what you did with the macro shortcuts to navigate around. I use fairly large orchestral templates, and have been experimenting with a sort of hybrid template where I have the routing setup and dragging in presets into respective folders, each assigned to a bus. I'd like to put something together so I can do similar. First trial and I'm scrolling through quite a few banks to get where I want in the template. I was wondering, have you tried setting up the faderport to control an eq like fabfilter?

    • @BladesMusic
      @BladesMusic  3 роки тому +1

      I have done a little bit of plugin control with the FP, but not really for EQ. I find that there are too many parameters to usefully show much in a single bank of 8 and find myself not really using as I could. Though "back in the day" when I had a Behringer BCF2000, I used the Cakewalk EQ like this and actually found it kind of fun just controlling with my eyes closed to take the visuals out of it. If I had an FP16, I might. If you weren't going to mess with "Q" too much, I suppose you could do four faders for gain and four for frequency across four bands or something like that. I have a Console 1 that I really like for EQ controls. Though it's "limited" to just the Softube stuff plus some in the UAD line, it is really useful because it is laid out perfectly. Many don't realize that you can actually turn off the Console 1 OSD application and use IT as a more generic MIDI controller. due to the layout, that would probably make more sense, even taking it beyond just EQ and controlling other channel strips if you want.
      In the case of the built in or 3rd party ones, it's easy enough to map some controls and see if it adds anything for you. I don't have Fab Filter, but I just played around with some mappings on a Fat Channel EQ and with the ProEQ2 and it works like I remember the BCF2000 working - could be fun, I guess. I just mapped all my Console 1 controls to the Fat Channel and while it's not AS consistent as the actual C1 controls are (some of the Fat Channel stuff is not mapped as logically as you'd expect), it could be pretty functional if I decided that I wanted to use it in this way rather than in the true Console 1 way - which is superior. Hope this info is useful!

      @@BladesMusic Thanks I appreciate the insight! I'm having a great time with the faderport so far, definitely a good investment. Getting away from the screen and mouse I'm able to concentrate much more on what I'm hearing, I think this will improve my mixes all around.

    Thanks for the video! I'm curious, have you looked into the Softube Fader 1? It's designed to pair with the Console 1 and seems slick and takes up minimal space. That said, I'm sure it doesn't have quite the Studio One integration Faderport would have...so I'm a bit torn. Thank you!

    • @BladesMusic

      I love it! I think the FaderPort is superior to the Console 1 FADER, but the Console 1 mkii is quite awesome and a great pairing with the FaderPort in my opinion. I particularly like the British Class A strip that you can add (that occasionally goes on sale). The hardest thing about the FP is forcing yourself to learn it, use it, and get it into your habit/workflow. Let me know if I can help!

    Hi, Blades Music!!!
    I need your help!!
    I work in Studio One 5 and the NI Kontakt sampler with orchestral libraries from Spitfire, Cinematic Studio and VST synthesizers of orchestral instruments from SWAM. To work, I need to control the parameters of dynamic automation (Volume, Expression, Vibrato, etc.) during the live (performance) of a musical part. I am considering buying a Presonus Faderport 8, because it is equipped with motorized faders. This is what is required in my work.
    I didn't find an answer to my question on the forum of the Presonus website.
    Please help me. For convenience, I will state my questions on the points:
    1. Is it possible to link Presonus Classic faders (Faderport 8) to the volume, expression, vibrato parameters in each NI Kontakt orchestral library, so that they are constantly stored in memory for constant use?
    2. I will be glad if item 1 is possible! You could have suggested how to configure this in Studio One:)
    3. If points 1 and 2 are possible, will the Faderport 8 motorized feeders automatically connect to the already recorded dynamic automation settings?
    Thank you in advance! I really hope for your help!!!

    • @BladesMusic
      @BladesMusic  3 роки тому +1

      I'm assuming you mean the "gaming keyboard" and not the midi one. This is a Logitech G910 gameing/macro keyboard. There are a lot of things to like about it, like the macro keys, the programmability, the simplicity yet complexity of the abilities of the app for it and a number of other things. My only real complaint (after the initial getting used to the feel of it part) is that some of the LEDs have either died or parts of them have - mostly the Blue LEDs in the keys. They are not easily replaceable. I have two of this KB (one here and one at the office) and they both have the same problem. So some of the keys that should be blue are green, a few are out completely. Logitech didn't really care because I was past the end of the warranty. It's also apparently not an uncommon problem. All that said, I still REALLY like the keyboard, its programming, and even the accompanying mouse.
      This is an affiliate link at Amazon for the KB: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GAONOAC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01GAONOAC&linkCode=as2&tag=bladesmusic-20&linkId=b67c9a8a12e2f18b6333b2b904eae6bd
      And in case you are interested, this is the G700s Mouse I use with it: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BFOEY3Y/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00BFOEY3Y&linkCode=as2&tag=bladesmusic-20&linkId=c95182d44b7ad3443a305dc5750aff61

      @@BladesMusic I had the Logitech g510 keyboard, and yes it has 18 g keys, it was quite good, then I discovered the Corsair k95 which also has the 18 G keys, but it's the iCue software which takes this keyboard to another level. The multi layered profiles are a great idea. I do still use the Logitech g600 mouse for the side buttons

    • @stupidusername38

      The faderport is a well designed product. The developers must have spent a lot of time designing the functionality, however there is a flaw. Taking the Analog Delay (as you've highlighted it in your video) when in Edit Plugins the Select buttons can only function in an on/off state. In Analog Delay if you only had a Sine wave and Sawtooth you could map a Select button to switch between the 2, BUT Analog Delay has more than 2 shapes, it's got 4. The faderport currently can't use the Select button to cycle through those shapes i.e 1,2,3,4 instead it will only toggle between 1 and 4, missing out the second and third shapes in between. I really wish Presonus would add this ability to make a Select button cycle through and not just an on/off selector.

    • @stupidusername38
      @stupidusername38 3 роки тому

      Forgot to add, I've created a way on the faderport to open the browser, scroll through the plugins and add an insert to a track all from the faderport, no mouse required
