Agreed, ferrets are wonderful pets but need more attention and more supervision than a baby/child, more cleaning than a cat, and more training than you would even give a dog.

@@samthewizzy I hate when people say they're a ton of work, they really arent if you set up properly. However they are very expensive in terms of vet care and get sick easily if you aren't careful. My ferrets have their own room (ferret proofed ofc) and I spend about an hour and a half with them every day, plus cleaning about 2 hours a week on weekends, and bathing them about once every 3 months.
Anna G I think any animals adds more work to your routine, and depending on what you do it could add what some people would call “a ton of work”
Ferrets are really good pets. Every morning my ferret wakes me up with a coffee and some toasts. He usually also drives me to work and goes grocery shopping by himself

I wish they showed how flat they can go too when they plop flat to the ground, we call it 'pancake'. My slothbear does it when I catch him with something he shouldn't have and he knows he can't get away 😂
I always called it speed bumping lol mine will do it when they want attention, or get in trouble. Just lay flat and as stretched out as possible in the middle of the floor.

That's called Speed Bumping or Road Bumping! It's a form of play where they pretend they're hiding. Our boys love if you stop moving when they do, and when they get up you get all excited with them. It's how kits play together.

My mom used to put our ferret under my covers in the morning to wake me up. He would just go down to my feet and gently nip at my toes. Most effective alarm clock I've ever used.

My parents did that too, except our ferret would try to know my fucking toes off.
I leave my bedroom door open. Mine is free roam & every morning 530am "I want my wet food please. I mean please as in now, as in now & there is no longer cash or keys in the pants you left on the floor, as in get up now or I will lick your feet then go poop in the corner." Poop prevention is as good as coffee but a bit less pleasant.
Think yourself luck it was your toes he was nipping on.......
There are other body parts that would drastically increase the speed of bed exit.

If you're considering a ferret as a companion pet, makes sure you learn as much as possible.
Each of our ferrets escaped the house, lucky our neighbors knew who we were, great way of meeting your neighbors. They're related to a skunk, they sleep so soundly you'd think they were dead, they steal things. The list is endless.
Best companions though.

I got six ferrets and yeah you gotta watch em constantly when they're out playing or else completely ferret proof the house. They are great little fur buddies tho funny as hell to watch play

@@incognitodon5779 It's good that no one buys them at a pet store. Animals there are treated like a way to make money and are probably very sick and will die in a couple of days.
Ferrets are the BEST! They are like permanent puppy/kitten/toddlers lol. I got my first ferret for Christmas this year (actually I got him for my daughter, but he's MY baby!)...and I don't know how I managed this long without one! You literally cannot be sad with a ferret in the room! Never knew an animal that can cause so many laughs!!
Please tell me your ferret baby has a friend? They need one since they are very social creatures, we got two but one was really sick (We’ve been nursing her for months now) and her brother has lost his little spark (we are getting him a pal next month) but he started playing with out new cat and got better, so they need animal pals

I've taken in ferrets from an abusive home, and one where her brother died.
Although they were older ferrets, around 7-8, they both perked up immediately when they met their friends.
It's heartwarming seeing them become themselves again.

@@ellac2267 From what I've read (and seen in hours and hours of ferret videos lol) not all ferrets need or want another ferret around and ferrets in the wild (European polecats) are solitary animals. I know a domesticated ferret is going to be different than it's wild ancestors of course, but many ferret owners say they can be quite individual when it comes to needing or wanting a companion animal. We just have one at the moment and we spend lots of time playing with him. He also has our two cats and Chihuahua to play with. We will probably try to get him a friend soon, but for now he seems perfectly happy and goofy as a ferret should be lol.

The dogs sit in silence as they watch the skillful predator steal their last toy, what a feat!
Ferrets are awesome pets, as high maintenance pets go. Ferrets need hours of play everyday. Thay sleep a lot and will adapt to whatever time you want to play with them night or day but play is not a option. There are some diseases that will take your ferret early and vet bills can be expensive.
So wrong...YOU adapt to whatever time THEY want to play. LoL Otherwise you have to try to sleep through ferret tantrums.
A small price to pay for salvation...

I love everything about ferrets I’ll never be able to live without them proudly own 4 and I can say they are and aren’t easy to own only recommend them to people who are willing to do a lot of research about them
Wish I could stretch a part of my body 30% longer....
My first encounter with a ferrets flexibility was when I took my two ferret pubs home for the first time. I was leaving them alone in their cage in my bedroom to settle down. A few hours later I went to see how they are doing. One was missing. I found him under my pillow. When he was a pub he was just so slim he could stretch trough the bars XD
My girl could easily slide through the bars of her play pen when she was a pup. She still can with difficulty, but we've given up in the play pen.
@@tommyeleanor Haha yeah sometimes ferrets just overcome every border we set for them. Same said ferret of mine used to get on the kitchen counter regularly by climbing up, the back of the refrigerator. I called him "Spider-ferret" at times lol

My ferrets have no concept of gravity, and have no fear other than their reflection in the mirror.
One of my ferrets, (his name is Tot) and i have a rountine we do in the morning where he bing-bongs around the bathroom while i brush my teeth and stuff and then he BOLTS down the hallway, dooking. He always has so much fun! Ferrets are fast as hecc and the best tiny friends you could ask for ;u; ❤

Ferrets are amazing. They do have very specific health issues, so it's best to do some serious research on what to expect before committing to one of these little guys.
You should never commit to "one" of these little guys... one is the loneliest number for a Ferret... if you want to own a ferret, you should start with two, not one... ferrets really need a companion to be truly happy... a human, no matter how attentive cannot replace another ferret.

"Predators", that's rich; my stinks maybe killed my remote buttons and that's it. I miss those little things.
I wonder if there were ancient reptiles that adopted the same strategy, other than losing their limbs entirely like some skinks and the snakes. I know some reptiles live under burrows, what I mean is if they can switch from compact stance to an elongated posture.
Reptile spines flex sideways, not up and down like mammals, so definitely not this kind of posture. Some other kind maybe.

Any ferret will tell you that a wound up ferret in a toobie doesn't slow down at all.
Ferrets can cure Depression and take away Anger INSTANTLY.
They also "Speedbump", they rest flat on the floor with their legs tucked under them and look like goop spilled out onto the floor.
They are every limber and go very limp quick
