I bought one . I am 173 cm and the bike’s height is perfect for me. First ride perhaps in the end march. Lot of snow in Finland so I just have to wait. Thank you : EXCELLENT review.👍
My Scout! ;) I own this guy for two years and I was very interested what you will say during your review. You had very limited time for evaluation, probably few hours or days, and I can confirm you did your job very well. Even after my two year experience with my beloved bike all your words are perfectly valid. It is beatifully simple, easy to ride, not too loud (characteristic I especially looked for) but still with great character if you pull full throtle, greatly maneuverable bike. One of the best choices on the market, in my opinion...
You both are noticeably more at ease and finding your gait. Should have no problem getting more subscribers. Scout is a good bike for the one bike garage.
I have one, and it's fantastic. Docile at low rev's, but a screamer over 4500. Easy to handle at low speeds, but stable and comfortable enough at high speeds to make long distance totally practical. The downsides: Kind of a small 3.3 gallon gas tank, no cruise control, and useless off-road. I can live with those things.
@@fugitivermx I’ve never run it all the way to empty, so I’m not sure what the absolute range is. You could easily make it 120 miles before getting gas, but I’ve never gone more than 100 miles without filling up. I saw a UA-cam video where a guy was getting about 150-160 miles per tank by always keeping the rpm’s low (which you can totally do with a Scout...there’s more than enough torque).

Another well researched review with good rider input👏. My initial thoughts were "it's such a small bike for a tall person." However, it actually looked fine and apart from sounding like a sowing machine (plenty of vids about changing that) it's a Harley killer. My only irk of Indian Motorcycles presently is that they don't as yet have a deeper line up of bikes. They seem to start at £12k with the next model up @£19k with nothing in between. What's next the "Triumph Speedmaster" or "Bobber" but the "Vintage Dark Horse" would also be great - well done👍🤘😎
Thanks Neil. Yes looking at the wheelbase we thought it might be cramped but it wasn’t. Good points bro. We’re reviewing the Triumph Scrambler Xe and the Herald Maverick 125 this week 👍🏼👍🏼
Now this I do like ☺. Does it take much getting used to with those forward mounted foot controls - coming more from a sit up and beg position? Fantastic review as usual. 👍
Thanks buddy. At first you have to look for the pegs but once your feet are on; its instinctive to use the levers. Soon you get used to where the pegs are without looking and it’s fine.
Bike seems well sorted, but if was in that particular market, reckon I’d splash the cash on the Street Bob... agree with your lad that the SB has a more raw look and guessing not as well-mannered on the tarmac, which I like in that class of bike... good review, as always...
What left the most noticeable mark while watching this is the reviewer (big guy). Man, so unique look. 👍I wish to grow beard like that. Nice review, guys. 🙏
Love your channel. I subscribed few weeks ago! Very good reviews . Keep on going I am a fine watcher of your videos. Quick question: Compared to the Street Bob 107 that you tried as well, where would you put the Scout in terms of performance, acceleration, torque etc... . Thanks
I like the Indian scout bobber they make some nice bikes but that Springfield dark horse is sweet but $22k is steep. From people I talk to the scout is a good bike
My dad has a Scout (blue/cream two-tone) and I've been on it a few times. It feels very sporty and will go through the corners easily. It's quick, the torque-to-power ratio is really nice. No significant issues with the drive train, it feels solid. It's a fun little bike, but as folks note with fuel tank size - it's great in and around town, but not so great for a longer ride. The issue I have is the finer details of fit and trim. Every fastener needs to be gone over upon delivery with a bit of thread locker! Nothing seemed to be tightened properly. Even the left grip was sliding on the bar...no double sided tape holding it on. Some failure to attend to details that makes me sad. I am also not a fan of the exhaust - the real cylinder pipe is too high up on the bike in my opinion. I'm 6'1" and I think it's in the way. I'd prefer a swept exhaust or a pipe coming on both sides, which would allow them to be lower. Probably not an issue for most, but annoyed me.
Great review....It will be great if you could do Scout bobber sixty review....that bike has few differences and one less gear....would really like your feedback on that...and will that be a good beginner bike?....Thank you
Hello guys! Nice job on the review. I must say all the gear is working well and the presentation is very nice. I like the way you break a bike down. Ol'Man, I have to say Mate, you look better on that Scout than I thought you would! I felt so cramped on it I wouldn't even ride it. And I get it, it's not so much the bike's problem. I am a larger human, and some bikes just aren't available to me as a result. I do like the bike overall. Although I think the suspension and brakes let it down, particularly in the front. I keep hearing they are adequate. I want to see dual discs and adjustable USD forks on a machine that has the pretense of a sportier ride. Because the drive train certainly holds up its end. Had the Victory Octane been allowed to live, we could have seen all kinds of performance options. I just wish they could have been more generous with the wheel base and rider triangle. Really nice bike otherwise.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I know. For me, if I were in the market for a sporty-ish cruiser and I wasn't hung up on the bike being new, I would go for a gently used Victory Hammer S. That is a great bike. I wish Polaris would bring that style back using the new PP108 engine. Forget the heritage stuff, you know? Just put a kick-ass sport cruiser out there that looks as good as it goes. Now THAT would be a bike I would buy. But I digress! All that said, The Scout is a viable option for a lot of riders. It goes well, it looks good, it's reasonably priced, and as a platform it's pretty versatile. The new touring accessories collection is pretty cool. Not for the faint of pocket book, however! LOL!
Hi Dennis, just curious, how tall are you? Ol'Man is 6'3" as I am. I was hoping this supercool bike would work for me too; it looks quite in proportion to his length actually. But your post made me doubt that again. Why did it feel cramped exactly?
@@doordevloer9105 Hi. I'm 6'4" @ 265 (not fat) with a 36" inseam. I think my long legs are the thing that make fitment a bit challenging for me. So when I tried to settle into the bike I felt very knees-up, and that is not a position I am going to accept. That is why I was surprised to see the Ol' Man looking so dapper on the thing! You should definitely give one a go - You might have better luck than I did. Hope this helps. And if you are celebrating, Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all!
Great review as always.. Watched this one on Yr suggestion.. How did you find it sizewise for you? Did it have the forward foot controls on the model you had? I'm 6'4" so bike size is a huge issue for me.
Thanks bud. Yes it had forward controls and was much more roomy than most other bikes. The Indian Springfield Dark Horse which we also reviewed was very roomy (even more so). I’d say Indians are the best bikes to go for, for taller people 💯
Hey guys love your videos. You compared the scout to the Harley softail standard and street bob, it’s actually the competitor to the Harley Sportsters. Next month the new chief is coming out that will be Indians answer to the Harley softails. I hope you guys get the new 22 chief in England. It’s going to eat Harleys lunch. I own a Harley and I’m saying that.
Good review. As someone thinking of returning to biking I find the single front discs on cruisers a bit unjustifiable. As you said, it’s good braking for a single disc, but why the single disc? Is it just style over substance?
I think to be honest, double disc’s are more about reducing heat fade in continuous vigorous braking, ie spirited riding, and a single disc has plenty of stopping power and is suitable for such bikes.
Awesome Motorcycle I've been looking at this bike quite a bit lately. I've also been cross shopping this bike with the Harley Iron 1200 as this will be my first bike ever. To be honest the more I've been researching this bike the more i'm leaning towards buying this bike over the Iron 1200. The Iron 1200 is a good bike don't get me wrong however the the iron has a few things that would prevent me from buying one. First the foot controls they don't fit me at all then again I'm a fairly tall guy at 6,4 and 227 lbs. So the first thing I would have to do is switch out the controls to forward controls. Then the second item is the tank which is way too small in my opinion at 2.1 gals compared to the 3.3 gals of the Scout. That being said the Scout has some issues of it's own that I would need to fix before I could love the bike. 1st is the exhaust which way too quiet I want to hear that exhaust so that would need to change out asap. The 2nd item is the seat while Iron 1200 has a really nice seat the seat on the Scout isn't the best. So a seat swap is a must. Those items aside I really loving the Scout every time I see one the Iron 1200 not so much. So I think once I can afford to I think I might grab the Scout in the Bobber 60 variant one less gear then the standard scout plus it has the less powerful 999cc motor instead of the 1133cc version of regular Scout but for the price and the style and the fact you can get a liquid cooled v twin instead of an air cooled like the Irons and the 48s have with forward controls for around 10k US. The scout is one of the bargain street/cruiser bikes for the money. Anyone whose in the market for a good quality built bike but doesn't have a big budget should consider looking at the Scout series. Trust me they won't be disappointed.
The power between the Scout and the Iron 1200 is night and day. As for the exhaust, I have Crusher slip-ons on my 2016 Scout and I get compliments almost every time I ride my bike. A bonus of having the Crusher slip-ons is that it adds between 5%-10% to your power, and the ECM adjusts for it automatically.
That would be one I would consider perhaps. I can't even ride the current configuration! The rumor mill is already afoot with hints that a new platform (or a more traditional version based off the Challenger chassis) using the PP108 engine is in the works. A 2022 model maybe? We will see given the current state of the world.
Thinking about downsizing from bigger touring bike very interested in scout my problem is still like to ride long distance the horrible fuel mileage 130 MI not many people want to ride with you
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Haha no , it was about the scout , because i just can't find an official statement about that topic . Thank you for taking the time to talk to me though .
As usual a great review. I’m very very tempted after your honest assessment. Any chance of doing Helmet reviews ? I have 4 Shoei helmets . The most expensive two are great , the cheaper ones are far too noisy . I’ve never tried Shark or Arai for instance. I’m personally looking for the quietest . I have a Speed twin and Guzzi V85 . Comments appreciated
Thanks Anthony. The Indian is really very good indeed. We have reviewed the helmets we have got but the videos don’t do very well and manufacturers aren’t really interested in sending us helmets.
thanks for review to help stop us going mad , i say that because here in cornwall the weather would not allow you to do such good reviews ,, i see you kept that nice helmet _ any more feedback would be helpful as am thinking of getting one. you must have gained permission to ride on that estate, well done,, i dont like the rear end on that bike or any other harley copy _ it just makes the case for harley stronger , just my opinion folks,]]] glad you pointed out the daft ; in my opinion; pointless mode function , also how can you trust makers of bikes that cannot make a decent stand?????
Thanks Simon. The roads we were on were actually public roads (apart from plonking ourselves at the end of the drive). Interesting points you make 👍🏼 The helmet is really comfortable and relatively quiet. The visor does steam up a bit but once your moving its ok, partly because it’s freezing cold!
The Scout was my first choice, but I got a better deal on my 2019 Indian Chief Darkhorse. I did replace almost all of the Indian badges with Kuryakyn products -now the bike looks better and is not a rolling billboard.
I’ve actually scheduled a test ride on a 2022 but my concern IS the forward controls and I hope they have an option for mid controls. Spinal issues amassed over the decades make forward controls for me a no no. Nothing worse than your brain telling your leg to go to ground and your leg doesn’t get the message and over you go
Do you recommend this (w/o any modifications) on long drives? Long hours? Or needs to change to a more comfortable shocks and seats? Or adjust the stock shocks and the tire pressure and the handle bar?
Why such a small petrol tank. I know cruisers sometimes do this - I'd always assumed it was to retain a small stylish peardrop tank - but the tank looks large - is it a tank cover over a metal box beneath? Quoted 119 mile range effectively means filling every 100 which might become tiresome and even worrying at off peak hours...
I have a 17 Scout. I get 119 120 miles till low fuel warning light consistently . Usually have plenty of time to find a station. After 120 miles you're going to want to stop and stretch the legs anyway. These aren't touring bikes after all. :-)

@@MrDarcy-OlMan very welcome keep up the good work👍
Quality review guys another stunning bike 👌🏻
Thanks buddy 💯
Bike seems well sorted, but if was in that particular market, reckon I’d splash the cash on the Street Bob... agree with your lad that the SB has a more raw look and guessing not as well-mannered on the tarmac, which I like in that class of bike... good review, as always...
Thanks Joe. Interesting points 👍🏼👍🏼
Best moto channel right here
Much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼
You guys should review the new rogue version, I think you'd like the ergonomics updates
I’ve got one of these being delivered on Monday and I can’t wait
Awesome, enjoy your new ride 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks!
What left the most noticeable mark while watching this is the reviewer (big guy). Man, so unique look. 👍I wish to grow beard like that. Nice review, guys. 🙏
Thanks buddy 💯
Love your channel. I subscribed few weeks ago! Very good reviews . Keep on going I am a fine watcher of your videos. Quick question: Compared to the Street Bob 107 that you tried as well, where would you put the Scout in terms of performance, acceleration, torque etc... . Thanks
Thanks buddy! The Street Bob is more torquey and at lower rpm so pulls hard and strong however the Scout feels powerful and revs easier
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks Bud
I like the Indian scout bobber they make some nice bikes but that Springfield dark horse is sweet but $22k is steep. From people I talk to the scout is a good bike
Yes 👍🏼👍🏼 The Scout is really nice.
Interesting points! Thanks very much buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice review. The headlight looks outdated on that bike.
Thanks man! 👍🏼👍🏼
Great review....It will be great if you could do Scout bobber sixty review....that bike has few differences and one less gear....would really like your feedback on that...and will that be a good beginner bike?....Thank you
Thanks buddy! Yes hopefully we will next year 👍🏼👍🏼
Sounds horrible with those stock exhaust. Very good job guys as always. Will be waiting for the bobber version.
Yes we’d definitely get some slipons at least. Hopefully more Indians to come in the near future
Thanks for your interesting points! We get what you’re saying. I prefer a longer wheelbase certainly too; a rarity though
LOL!
@@dennism1919 Yes agreed 💯👍🏼👍🏼
Good review, thanks. A full comparison test with Triumph Speedmaster would be interesting?
Thanks buddy. Hopefully we will get a Speedmaster not before too long
Thanks for posting interested interested myself one of my big issues is $130 mile fuel range you won't have many riding buddies
No worries Jim. 👍🏼 At least you can show it off at the gas stations!
Iv watched this vid 3 times what a stunning looking bike
Absolutely 👍🏼👍🏼
Great review guys 👍
Thanks Geoff 👍🏼👍🏼
Could You review Chief Dark Horse? You said that it can be hard to beginners ? Maybe whole video what kind of bike can be good for beginners?
Yes hopefully we will be reviewing the whole Indian range soon 🤞
Great review as always.. Watched this one on Yr suggestion.. How did you find it sizewise for you? Did it have the forward foot controls on the model you had? I'm 6'4" so bike size is a huge issue for me.
Thanks bud. Yes it had forward controls and was much more roomy than most other bikes. The Indian Springfield Dark Horse which we also reviewed was very roomy (even more so). I’d say Indians are the best bikes to go for, for taller people 💯
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks buddy 👍 I'm definitely getting one!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan... Just ordered a new Indian Scout 2 tone pale green/cream.... Your video definitely helped with my decision.. Thanx guys!
@@2wheeledwillie395 Awesome bro! 💯👍🏼👍🏼
Nice bike and review, with the Sportster range deleted 2021 this should sell well.
Thanks! Yes certainly
Good review. Harley Softail standard is cheaper but for another £1500 I'd go for the Harley Low Rider.
Thanks Splodge! Yes another option! 👍🏼
Iam not cruiser boyie
But your videos are made me love with some cruisers🕺
Thanks bud. There’s something about them!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan That’s a good insight, thanks.
That bike sounds great and the price love the helmet well done lads
Yes it’s a super engine. Thanks George 👍🏼
The Scouts look good and are unique you can pick them out in a crowd. Not so much for the other models in the Indian lineup. :)
Yes they are stunning. We like all the Indians tbh 👍🏼
12.5 litre tank is a wee bit on the small side. Can you get a larger tank as an option? Very nice bike. I'd prefer a larger headlight.
I don’t know to be honest. I don’t think people that buy them are particularly long distance riders
It’s definitely superior to the Iron and for your height more roomy too. We loved it
The power between the Scout and the Iron 1200 is night and day. As for the exhaust, I have Crusher slip-ons on my 2016 Scout and I get compliments almost every time I ride my bike. A bonus of having the Crusher slip-ons is that it adds between 5%-10% to your power, and the ECM adjusts for it automatically.
A bit small for taller folks. A larger version (based on the Challenger platform) with the PP108 would be awesome.
Yes that would be ideal 👍🏼
That would be one I would consider perhaps. I can't even ride the current configuration! The rumor mill is already afoot with hints that a new platform (or a more traditional version based off the Challenger chassis) using the PP108 engine is in the works. A 2022 model maybe? We will see given the current state of the world.
@@dennism1919 🤞
I like ol man's reviews cause his about the same size as me so it gives me an idea how I'll look on a bike
Excellent! We’re pleased it helps 👍🏼
Good review ! Thanks.
Do you think the extended seat by indian would be better for tall riders? Or is stock fine.
I guess so but after a while the stock seat may soften giving an extra inch or so of space
Thinking about downsizing from bigger touring bike very interested in scout my problem is still like to ride long distance the horrible fuel mileage 130 MI not many people want to ride with you
Ah ok yes 🤔
Can you review a triumph speedmaster bonneville ? You do a very good job

Hello guys great review , but what about the gas consumption through out the city ?
Thanks buddy. We didn’t test that but it will be around 60mpg we would think
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Dont know about that , read some forums that people say they could barely scratch the 200 klm per tank but it was highly debatable

Thanks bud. Yes we aren’t keen on modes!
Does the bike show on the gauge like how much fuel is left or what is the fuel range before having to refuel again?
We honestly can’t remember now my friend. It may say on Indians website
Ah alright then. Thank you so much🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Keep up the good work😎😎😎😎😎

Hi guys,
Just waiting for the Indian sales guy to get back to me. Made an offer ,still waiting for a reply ……. 4 hrs later ! Business must be good!!!
@@walkoptic Great! We’re still waiting for Indian to get back to us to review the rest of the range...since January 😬
thanks for review to help stop us going mad , i say that because here in cornwall the weather would not allow you to do such good reviews ,, i see you kept that nice helmet _ any more feedback would be helpful as am thinking of getting one. you must have gained permission to ride on that estate, well done,, i dont like the rear end on that bike or any other harley copy _ it just makes the case for harley stronger , just my opinion folks,]]] glad you pointed out the daft ; in my opinion; pointless mode function , also how can you trust makers of bikes that cannot make a decent stand?????
Thanks Simon. The roads we were on were actually public roads (apart from plonking ourselves at the end of the drive). Interesting points you make 👍🏼 The helmet is really comfortable and relatively quiet. The visor does steam up a bit but once your moving its ok, partly because it’s freezing cold!
That one suits you, nice looking bike 🏍
Thanks hun 👍🏼👍🏼 yes it’s very cool
The Scout was my first choice, but I got a better deal on my 2019 Indian Chief Darkhorse. I did replace almost all of the Indian badges with Kuryakyn products -now the bike looks better and is not a rolling billboard.
Ahh ok haha great
Awesome
Good luck! Thanks Paul
We think it would be fine. It was very comfortable.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan wow! Thnx! This helps a lot!
Yes I guess it’s style mote than anything and it’s kind of an urban bike
I have a 17 Scout. I get 119 120 miles till low fuel warning light consistently . Usually have plenty of time to find a station. After 120 miles you're going to want to stop and stretch the legs anyway. These aren't touring bikes after all. :-)
