"Still 1 minute 45 seconds left in the song. What else is left for them to say?" Just one of the most iconic lines in the history of rock and roll: "Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss".
Thank you. If you delve into The Who, you need to listen to Quadrophenia, specifically Love Reign O'er Me. Thanks again Devin and being open to listen to Renaissance at some time I look forward to that. Thank you again
My first concert was the Who. They played The Summit in Houston, TX. Phenomenal! Roger was the singer, but Pete sang as well. Check out the live version. Pete Townsend is a mater lyricist & genius poet. He is and was never afraid to say the truth, even or especially when, it's not going to make him look good. When they go, ' .... Pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday. Then I'll get on my knees and pray, we don't get fooled again. It's like he knows how we place our trust in authority figures who don't have our best interests at heart, just so we don't have to think. Then we get pissed off and find someone else to fill the position. Meet the New boss, same as the old boss. 😉
They still play, now with one Zak Starkey on the kit since around 1996, son of Ringo Starr, taught drums by 'Uncle Keith' as a kid (Ringo and Keith were very close friends), and to quote Roger Daltrey "when Zak joined us, suddenly Keith was alive again...". Kismet. 🥁
The lyrics, very relevant for today. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Politics, revolution, socialism, capitalism, etc,... wash, rinse, repeat. The new boss, same as the old boss. :)
Good stuff. I think the message is timeless. Just about how people get caught up with thinking their political groups will end up making any change, and how after all the talk, things generally just remain the same.
Thank you so much for getting your good self into The Who. The lead vocals on that is Roger Daltrey, who sang probably 75-80% of their material. The next 2 songs you have ready to go are also great choices. At some stage you should check out some of their live material, particularly from their peak era of 1963-1978. "Young Man Blues", "See Me, Feel Me" (from Woodstock), "A Quick One While He's Away" and "Magic Bus" (from LIVE AT LEEDS) are just don't of their live tracks that you might enjoy.
I loved your reaction and passion for good music. They blew me away in the early 70's with their innovative music, that was the golden age of rock. I'm a Buddha man myself.... can't wait to check out more Who with you.
The WHO….. “The Kids Are Alright” Tour 1989. Rich Stadium Buffalo N.Y…….. AWESOME After the concert the Who were being interviewed on the local radio station and the DJ asked the band…. “So what do you think about that new RAP music coming out”…. Roger Daltrey laughed and started to answer when John Entwistle said….. “let me answer this one….. It seems to me that if you can’t write music, can’t play music, can’t sing music, if you know absolutely nothing at all about music, well then, you do rap now don’t you”….. Then. Pete Townshend said….. “If Hitler was going to come back and torture the world again he would use rap music. Roger Daltrey laughed and said…. “Isn’t that the truth”
It’s hard to believe you’ve never heard this song. I almost feel sorry for you. It is representative that the decade of the 1970’s was the greatest decade in music, EVER!. No other decade even comes close to touching the greatness of the bands of the 70’s. It was just too much going on in rock music at the time. Not only did you have the greatest rock bands, but you had Motown music also, which was fantastic. Loved your reaction!
THE WHO, "WE DON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN"... ROGERS SCREAMS OUR FOR EVER STRONG... IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. SONG SUNG BY ENTWHISTLE "MY WIFE".. UNDERRATED AND UNDER APPRECIATED...
"The cause" you're wondering about is to stand up for liberty and fight against tyranny, and hope the government you replace it with is not as bad or worse then the one you just kicked out. You ALWAYS have to be wary of bosses, any bosses, because bosses have power, an power corrupts. -- That's the history lesson.
That is not a loop at the beginning, that is Pete actually playing through the keyboard on the organ that he's piping through an ARP synth. This is a great example of Roger Daltrey's voice and Pete's lyrics. This is Keith Moon on drums, Kenney Jones joined the band after Keith passed away in 1978. You should check out Pete's recording of the song on acoustic. ua-cam.com/video/B5yymadwxj8/v-deo.html
When Roger sings "The morals that they worship will be gone." He's talking about the people in power not practicing what they preach (Song writer Peter Townshend is a big Lefty). This song lands in the genre of progressive rock.
I enjoy that you are enjoying The Who train. It's always Roger with the screams. Found it ironic that you reacted to "the parting on the left, is the parting on the right", then glanced to your stickers in the background and couldn't help but derisively snicker. Oh well, unlike The Who's train, the train in the sticker has left the tracks.
One of my favorite lines in a Who song appears in their song "Cry If You Want": "Maybe things were better then , Before you led a promised life. Rash commitments and heavy raps and left wing spiel all compromised". Pete Townshend leans towards the right and is a conservative.
That's why he was great? Because he was different? So if we had a worm and now we have a snail, that's better? Idiotic. A dried up cow patty would have been better than he was.
@@beekay5914 You are correct, when you called me idiotic it totally changed my mind and now I see why career politicians are the way to go. Make Hate Great Again!
Look.,I am happy with a lot of what Don did .However ,have you heard him do the little story about the snake ? It's really scary. The way he delivers it ..Plus, he mentioned about something coming that is really bad..Even talked about having military available to give vaccines . Loved him but you cannot trust any man .
This is my first time on your channel. It would be so much better if you didn't talk and make all the expressions while the song is playing. It is very distracting. I am NOT trying to be rude or insult you. It is just my humble opinion. You can miss very important parts of the song if you are speaking at the wrong time. If you just listen you will get the real impact of the song. Again, I am not trying to be rude.
You seem to have a cool demeanor, but the political statements make you abhorrent to me. I hope you see the light some day, brother. Meanwhile I am going elsewhere for reactions. Peace!
I believe in Jesus and being washed in the blood.. Just because we have different beliefs does not mean we have a different opinion on keeping great music alive.. This is just one Woman's opinion of course...

Damn right!
As a very young Brit I started listening to The Who in the early sixties. I had a great childhood.
The drums on this song are out of this galaxy.
Keith Moon...one of the best. Sure left his mark on rockin' roll.
RIP Keith Moon
So is the bass playing.
Lead singer
Lead guitar
Lead bass
Lead drummer
This song is a 24K gold
Another shout for Love Reign O'er Me and Who Are You
Unfortunate that you are only finding this group now. Who's Next is one of the greatest albums of all time. Almost every single song is a classic hit.
My favourite album.
"Bargain" is superb.
Whole album is mega.
The Who are amazing! Pinball Wizard, Behind Blue Eyes, Who are You, My Generation........it's a long list❤️❤️. So good!
It certainly is! 👍👍
Thank you. If you delve into The Who, you need to listen to Quadrophenia, specifically Love Reign O'er Me. Thanks again Devin and being open to listen to Renaissance at some time I look forward to that. Thank you again
Greatest Rock Band Ever 🤘😎🤘
Pound for pound (no pun intended)....one of the best ending lyrics considering the lyrical content in rock history!

Saw these guys in 1978. It was powerful…my buddy offered Bill Walton, the BB player a joint lol…
You MUST watch a live version of this song - Roger’s scream is even more iconic and the playing is just out of this world!
Good stuff. I think the message is timeless. Just about how people get caught up with thinking their political groups will end up making any change, and how after all the talk, things generally just remain the same.
You REALLY need to watch the live version, Amazing!!!!😂😂🇬🇧
Great and natural reaction, i recomend you another great who's song at concert : young man blues HD 1970 isle of wight
Entire Quadrophenia LP. A Rock Opera that takes the listener on an emotional journey.
_'CSI: Miami_ brought me here!

The Who were a band followed by the Mods who were scooter riding fans back in the 60s

We had the patience to listen to everything and absorb it thoroughly back then without the phone getting in the way.
Today,you don’t.
Been 50 years now, still gettin' fooled again 😒
Yes, we are, same story here in the Netherlands. Lies only. Greetings
Sad but true
Just love that synthesizer/organ! Very few bands use it anymore. Really makes the song different from just any other rock band!
"The Who" spectacularity and pure energy.
The Who took part in a concert for emergency services in New York shortly after 9/11. It is safe to say they went down very well with the audience!
If ever there was a song that is totally relevant to what is happening in the world right now..this is it.
50 years later and it sounds like the world right now...
With regards to Keith Moon playing drums:
Keith; "Hey Pete, which drums should I play for this set?"
Pete: "All of them."
I'm glad you don't judge anyone who might disagree with you I'm the same way and I like your reactions, keep doing your thing
They played this at the towers after they came down in 2001. It was epic..
you will love the who's reign o'er me
It’s hard to believe you live in America & have never heard some of these bands but … I’m so glad you’re here now !
Wall of sound. Phil Spector started it and The Who perfected it.
....Best drummer of all times..... Look for a performance, and search here for Keith Moon....
Keith Moon was arguably the most creative musician of all time.

The who were the loudest band in the world. This track is the theme of CSI Miami
Some of the finest Progressive Rock going.
1971 - middle of the Vietnam War and The Cold War between Soviet Union & Easttern Bloc countries and "The West".
Hi Davin, thanks for doing a reaction of the very first record I bought as a 15 year old lol :-)
You're an original Devin! Love the review and have to say i got this album when it first came out. Oh my.
Roger does all the screams/yells
Better to watch this one live!
Love your reactions bro!
Devin is a cartoon character
DGibby ... Check out live 1978 for best ever performance of this (..Pete Townsend...guitarist's stage presence is incredible..)!

Pinball Wizard is one you might want to react to next..
It's my fav.
Great reaction . Thank you
I ever there was a song to regenerate, it’s this one, but I think , we will get get fooled again.
50 years ago. Still relevant.
I big fan of u
In '71, we were hoping that the 'Boss' would stop the war. It turned out that much was the "same as the old boss".

Hilarious reaction I ever Watched
Roger is the lead singer. Pete sings some songs, but Roger is the lead vocalist. Pete is the genius songwriter and guitarist.
The cause is the same in the USA as it was then in the UK.
Pete Townshend is a F'ing genius
This may sound familiar because every rock band has tried to duplicate it since. This was brand new and still unequalled
When Roger sings "The morals that they worship will be gone." He's talking about the people in power not practicing what they preach (Song writer Peter Townshend is a big Lefty). This song lands in the genre of progressive rock.
roger daltry.
PERCUSSION!!!!!!!!!!
need to do some pinball wizard next ... who are fantastic
If you think the first scream is something else, wait for the second one.
Why they are on the top end of my favorite bands )
I think he's just saying that the politicians, left or right, are full of shit and be careful about who you listen to.
Please listen to Who are you by the same band💃🏻🤩
Towns..end not Townshend! Just saying.
You need to check out live versions!
It looks like you have a really good stereo bro, now you should listen to it frying balls on LSD or some good psilocybin mushrooms...

Politics. Enjoy
The whole point was lost on you because you would not stop yakking through the entire song.
Thats why Trump was so great, he wasn't the same as the old boss. Thats why the real bosses wanted him gone.
Yes! And I hope he comes back in 2024.Unless ole Joe runs us all the way into the ground like he`s been doing..God Help Us!

And we lost another overnight with the passing of Charlie Watts.
The Trump train. Really? Bye.
Correct. Dump trump bunk. MAGA nonsense. Will they ever learn?
You talk too much. Joking all the way through a serious song. Seriously, you talked through the entire song.

It's hilarious that you think any of these lyrics align with your weird ideology. These guys are all progressive and probably all athiest.
