Hi! I'm the Junkrat in the video above!
I've been playing Junkrat (and overwatch) for about a year now, not a lot of experience on FPS or overwatch beforehand so a lot of my learning has been trial and error (and frustration), so I was definitely hoping for a least a little advice on how to improve.
I'm definitely going to be practicing my aim on mines (and not using them to jump directly into the enemy team).

As a diamond junk enjoyed, try to throw your trap down whenever you can. Because 9/10 of the times even In high ranks people don’t look down and step in it.
i play junk a lot (in gold rn) too an to some extent i have a similar issue with just going in too much. it really helped reminding myself to be patient, its fine if you dont get the kill when youre not confident youll get out alive, just keep spamming them from a safe corner (where you can leave quickly or your supports can see you) and over time your aim will get better meaning you can make more risky plays :D good luck climbing!!
Highly highly recommend watching Aquamarine's junkrat videos if you haven't. He gives notes about his plays, why he makes them, what he's doing, and I think it's a great help for any Junkrat player

@@lok1streams To jump on what @DJBaphomet says, watch Vulture as well for some good plays, but definately Aquamarine. He talks a lot about how good Junk can be, and sometimes when he's going to jump in, he'll throw a mine down and let his second one recharge. It allows him to stay safe while being ready to jump in.
The lack of trap usage was killing me. It's my favorite part about playing RatJunk.

As a junk player in plat 3 currently, junk feels really good right now. Not broken obviously (I don’t think junk will ever be broken) but he feels good to play and the ricochet changes and the health changes making hero’s like kiri and sombra dead to the one shot feels really nice

Hey I know Emong covered it really well, but, with junkrat there's 3 rlly good styles:
Drop in
Backline spammer
Frontline hitscan
Take those names with a grain of salt, they're just how my brain labels them. Drop in is very important, using his concussion nades for kills rather than transport. You tried that in the very beginning with the mercy but learning the HP combos will really help. With mercy, you should try to direct shot first then Ur nade and (if you can) combo with a melee.
With backline spammer it's not as RNG as it sounds, obviously you're needing to aim at people BUT junk is very forgiving with his rebound. Use it!! Like Moira orbs aim for walls behind or beside.
Frontline hitscan requires very quick and well aimed shots.
Doesn't matter the style, throw that trap everywhere!!

I love JSilly , this bronzie just needs to play off angles more, spam them chokes, and confirm kills when available (trap or mine combo). They keep rushing in, sometimes trading or getting lost and respawning. The free kill ults don't work in higher ranks when enemies start having good aim.
Side note- pc players give console players to much slack. Besides turning & flicking at lightning speed not being available it doesn't excuse bad positioning and gameplay mechanics.
@@gentlemankaiju1997 thank you so much for the advice! Yeah, i dont really play FPS so overwatch (as a whole) is new to me and I do struggle with positioning and mechanics. I started playing JR about a year ago because of the mild leeway on the mechanics.
Honestly if you could've seen my first few games, you'd probably think I was a genuine troll lol

Anyway I’m not an expert and you already have gotten advice like working on your aim, but yea try not walking in straight lines so much and don’t run into the enemy team like you were. Also I think you should try using highground especially on junkrat. Like I said I’m not a expert but I think those things good help you a lot
@@Princ3ssCai youre good! i wasnt offended and found it funny myself! and thank you; i try to go more high ground but then get worried im not doing enough and thats what tends to push me into the other team. idky but it feels like if im not securing kills im not actually helping the team, and i know thats not true at all. gotta focus more on working as a team and less on trying to stand out 👍
@@lok1streams Yeah I have that problem too sometimes, it is frustrating staying back and feeling like you aren’t doing enough. But like some of the other comments have said you have to be patient and also try and flow with your team instead of trying to force a play. Anyways, I hope in a few months you come back on here so everyone can see your progress ‼️‼️
Its definitely Junkrat season right now, almost every game has a suiciderat or a chokerat/spamrat getting the most RANDOM kills, way more often than last however many seasons. They get cocky too, always going for pharahs or the heroic ult right in the middle of the enemy team. Always fails lol.

@@kenshimitsuX i literally noticed junkrat was fucking strong when i started playing the game lol. spam chokes for free kills? ragdoll enemy tank + having by far the best burst damage in the game? unavoidable ult in way to many maps? why tf does he have a trap that deals 100 damage, unlike hog, in a single frame? 1000 hours later, my opinion hasnt changed even a little bit. still an overtuned hero.
@@aegislight5996 it's always baffled me how higher skill heros like Genji tracer and widow doomfist (though I kinda get their point in certain parts of his existence) are reviled by the community and deemed op but heros like reaper rat sym kiri bap and torb are deemed fair and even "weak and in need of buffs to be viable" the double standard is palpable

Doesn't matter. He died even with full. Just help your teammate so there's not two of you respawning.
2v1 with two low health targets vs ashe is better than a 1v1 with 1 low health target
@@caffffeinefree but is it better than two 1v1s against one low health and one high health target? Especially given that those two targets are Bastion and Junkrat, two dps with some of the biggest hit boxes

As junkrat, i always try to miss my shots into a line, if you miss the main shot, the ones behind might get hit.
I find their intro strange as I'm always happy to see Ashe, Soldier and Sojourn as a Junkrat OTP as it is much better than the alternatives Sombra, Tracer, Genji and Echo.

This is my favorite map as a junkie lmfaooo I find it easier on defense and often put traps near the pay load usually the corner cause they don’t often look down just for additional ult charge and take the high ground I’ll only jump down if my team need additional support but then up high for me. I also like using my mine to damage but also pull out of fights fast.

I doubt you're going to see this but about that comment on the mine and thinking about it being a ramp. I think it would be very helpful for junk players who are visual learners if you went to a custom and showed it then spectate it and show it from the side.

what if... hear me out here... junkrat took dmg from his weapons. a la pharah with her rockets, and sig with primary fire prior to his last rework, and ashe with dynamite. what if junkrat took like half dmg from primary fire and mines, just to completely alter how he plays and make junk otps stop vying for server admin position. (mostly joking btw 😂)

@@lok1streams So are you PC or console? If PC it’s when you take your mouse and after launching someone immediately shooting where you think they’ll fly! Kinda like flicking for widow trying to hit a headshot or smth
