Hey! I just found your videos yesterday and find myself binging! I've picked up several tips that will make my process better. You're a natural teacher, very thorough, and easy to listen to as well as watch. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Jan Myers Omg, thank you! That is such a sweet comment to read and you just made my day! ❤️❤️
Very helpful! This has often been a big struggle for me - having the vinyl not lay properly after it’s contacted. Thank you!
Love all your videos!!!
Hannah Temple Thank you!! ❤️
Great video! What kind of transfer tape did you use ?
I like AT-65
That's my coffee table design haha!
I love your videos and the designs that you make. I'm learning to make signs with wood and Silhouette, my question is , can I use contact paper instead of vinyl? And what procedure is it? thanks for your help and share .
Joseph Gilgen Yes, you totally can. I've opted to use vinyl simply because it's easier. With more adhesive you don't have as many tiny pieces that get lost or moved, and it's much easier to keep track of all the pieces that might move when they are black. I've lost far too many little pieces with clear contact paper. But it can be done. Simply use the same technique I showed here but substituting contact paper. No changes needs to be made. Just be very careful for small pieces getting stuck to the backing or transfer tape. I found that using Glad Press N' Seal made for a better transfer tape simply because it's not so sticky so the contact paper released better. But with some trial and error you will find what works best for you and what you prefer.
Thank you very much for answering!
Hello! I use 813. I've never used 631. Can you tell me your preferences? I'm almost out of 813 and need to order... and I'm curious to see the difference and your thoughts on the 813
Simply Missy I’ve actually made the switch to 813 since making this video. Both make clean lines, but I feel like 813 leave less sticky residue on the edges.
Such a beautiful job! Your videos are so helpful ! I would love to make one of these! what kind of wood do you use and where do you get it at?
Taylor Hardesty Thank you! I'm glad you like them! The wood for this sign was just a piece of fence picket from Home Depot that I cut to size and sanded well.
Thank You for your helpful tips... where did you get your squeegee? I use cricut one and I like yours better...
Deborah Civil It’s the one I got with my Cameo! Sorry, that doesn’t help you much...
Awesome video
DIYDadWorkshop Thank you!
Genius...how would this work on a 12x12 or 12x24 or larger?
Janicke B.M. Thanks! It works on whatever size you’ve got! I’ve done all kinds, big and small, with the same results.
How wide was the board you used in this video?
How do you get it to not bleed under the vinyl?
Is there a video on how you make these stencil tapes? With the words of course? Program?
Cels c I designed the stencils myself on my computer and cut them out with my vinyl cutter, a Silhouette Cameo. I'm sorry, I don't have a video on that yet. The Cameo comes with its own design software that I use.
what brand and where do you get your contact paper?
Brantley Lindsay I usually just get the Contact brand at Walmart.
How did you cut such a long piece of vinyl? Sorry my ignorance :(
Maria Latham You're not being ignorant! I use vinyl on a roll. I kept it 12" wide and cut two of the same stencils at the same time and cut without a mat.
How do you cut without a mat? Can you post a video or recommend one?
What font did you use?
Sophanna Sieng I honestly don’t know off the top of my head, but if I was to guess I’d say Autumn in November, but I don’t think that’s it. I do have the Design available for free download on my website. www.sweetpeawoodworking.com
Hi, this made no sense to me why you would use thansfer paper here? The vinyl was already sticking to the wood when you pulled off the backing. Transfer paper is used to transfer words to the material you want it adhered to. Did I miss something? 🤔
Color 'N Canvas the transfer tape keeps the small center pieces in place and lined up as well. Without the transfer tape, you would have to move all the little middle pieces individually to the board and line them up.
