Other than the paint and paste ones I've never seen the other methods. I love them. What is the best way to clean stencils? I used today which was really thin and couldn't clean it as it was just too thin. Thank you for sharing this great tutorial.
Hi Gail! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! I'm so glad you found it helpful. I rinse my stencils under hot water rubbing them delicately with my fingers to remove anything I just used. I always rinse them immediately after I use them. If you let them sit for even 5 minutes, it starts to dry in all your little cracks and crevasses. If I'm using the stencil twice on the same project, I clean it between each use. It gives you a better stenciling that way as well. Hi Sofia, it's so nice to see you again! I'm super happy you enjoyed this video. I love the crackle paste too. I'm going to use that one in a Halloween project that I'll be working on shortly. And the glitter...what can you say about glitter....other than LOVE IT lol.... Thanks for watching another video. Love seeing you! 💖😊
I certainly did enjoy this video, very much. I love the new mediums you showed, some I didn’t even know existed, so thanks for offering that info. The stencils were awesome and wondering what size mylar they are. The designs were raised and made the stonework look so real. These methods all elevate your projects out of the ordinary to the top of the heap. I can’t wait to try them. I’ve been on the Decopaugenapkins site and love their selection of products. Hard not to want to buy everything. Hope you use some of these products in whatever you teach us. Will watch this again to make sure I didn’t miss any great tips.
Hello my sweet friend! I'm so happy I was able to show you some stuff that you didn't know existed! That's always great. The stencils were just the normal thickness (.18mm) The medium is very thick, so it leaves a very thick impression. I love Decoupagenapkins.com. They have some really cool stuff. My favorite is the glass bead gel....I'm IN LOVE WITH IT.... I'll be using a lot of these methods in future videos. I'm planning a Halloween project and I'll be using the crackle paste on that one. I'm working on that video for decoupaging a napkin on a dark surface. I have all the bugs worked out. You will be amazed! I'm going to try for next Sunday. Wish me luck. And I'm not using Mod Podge.......drum roll..... Polyvine beat Mod Podge out of the park. Wait til you see it. Thanks again for watching, love you bunches 😘🤗🥰
@@masoncreationsetc you don't need luck, you already have so many talents. You don't pass along anything that you don't test first. I am starting to see many flaws in using Mod Podge on some delicate materials so this other product sounds promising for better results. Even with the water method on napkins, Mod Podge is not giving good results. They say you're only as good as the products you work with. As always, I'm 10 steps behind you, but thanks to your talent and willingness to share that talent with all of us we just might catch up with you as a better crafter and artisan. Your videos are gold to me!!
You are correct about only being as good as the products you work with, and tools as well. And yes, Mod Podge definitely is far from perfect. I'm excited for you see what the Polyvine can do! And yes, I absolutely test EVERYTHING before I do a video. I never want to steer anyone in the wrong direction, and I also don't like surprises on camera 😱 You should see how many little pieces of test papers and boards I have laying around my studio 🤣 I keep them all so I can refer back to them if I need to. I even keep the fails, and there a quite a few of them. I keep them so I can remember what went wrong 😆 It thrills me that you hold my videos in such high regard 😘🥰🤗 Love you to the moon and back 🌛💖
Thanks! I just bought some stencils a couple weeks ago and couldn't figure out how to use them without bleeding. Do you have recommendations for painter's tape? I've tried a few brands and I get bleeding with that too 🙃
Hi there! Thank you, I'm so happy you enjoyed this video. I use Scotch Blue Painter's Tape for Sharp Lines, I left you a link below. Let me know how this no bleed method works out for you and if you have any questions at all, let me know. I'm here for you! When you're sectioning off something with the painter's tape, apply your paint with a sponge and dab over top of the tape. That will give you really clean lines. Hi Margaret, Yes, I'm peeling off the stencil right away while it's still wet, then letting it dry overnight. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Kathy, yes I seal everything. My normal go to for sealer is Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish. It's great for all surfaces. It's heat and water resistant and also food safe. Watching from Seattle, WA. Enjoyed this video. I need to stencil some address numbers on a metal plaque. Can you suggest a media to raise the numbers that will survive the weather? Thank you.
Hi Teresa, I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. I'm going to give you a few suggestions. I've never done anything like that. But I'll give you a run down on what I would use. I'll leave you links at the bottom for all the products I'm suggesting. Let me know the outcome once you've finished your sign. I'd love to see pictures. 1. Definitely paint the metal plaque with Polyvine multi surface lacquer in a matte finish. It will prime the metal so that whatever you put on it won't chip or peel. 2. I would use either texture paste, caulking or premixed tile grout for your letters. After it dries you'll need to paint your sign to protect it from weather. If you want the metal to stay metal looking, you can add paint to the texture paste so the stenciled numbers are a color. 3. Seal with Polyvine heavy duty extreme varnish. This is meant for exterior use and is waterproof and UV resistant. So this product will definitely protect all your hard work. I just used it on a flowerpot that has a live plant in it that gets watered. And it works wonderful. I'll leave you a link for that video so you see the water test I did. I love the amount of ideas you can do with stencils. Which 3D effect with stencils would you recommend for card-making?? Happy crafting from Phoenix, AZ. 🤗❤️
Hi there! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! You really can do a lot with stencils, can't you? I would say for card making the best results would be the gold foil, glitter paste and glass bead gel. I think all of them would look great. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi there! It's pretty difficult to remove all the glue from the stencil. I've tried alcohol and it removes some of it, but not all. I just leave the glue on there and you can use it a 2nd time, sometimes, and you'll be spraying the glue on there again anyway. It really doesn't harm anything to leave the glue. It won't actually glue itself to anything else, because it's repositionable. I keep all my stencils in a file folder. They stick to each other a little bit, but can be pulled apart easily. I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
Hi Donna. I'm working with Gold LEAF on ceramic. I can do a Kintsugi effect by hand and am looking for method of using stenciling with Gold Leaf. Have you ever used Gold Leaf and a stencil?
Hi Paul, Yes I have. I absolutely love the Kintsugi effect. That is so cool. I should do a video on that. Never thought about it before. I'd love to see some pictures of your project when done. I'll leave you my email address, in case you'd like to share. Here's what you need to do it. If you're going to stencil, you'll need an adhesive that's thick, so I recommend this: Adhesive-Deco Foil Transfer Gel: decoupagenapkins.com/products/transfer-gel-duo-deco-foil-medium-4-oz?sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt I would use Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish to seal your beautiful creation. Don't let the word wood fool you, it can be used on any surface. It's a great product and I use it for all my projects now. It's waterproof and heat resistant, as well as UV resistant and food safe. I even use it for decoupage glue. works way better than mod podge. Here's the link for that. Both links are safe for you to click on. Hi Izzy, They all cost about the same. But I can tell you it lasts for a long time because you don't need much. Here's a link for one on Amazon, but it actually costs a little bit more. If you have Prime with free shipping, it may be the way to go. It'll be cheaper in the end. Spray Adhesive Repositionable for Stencils (Amazon): amzn.to/3OQOk11
Hi Rena, you'll need to spray the stencil with repositionable spray so it sticks to the fabric. Use a sponge stippler/dauber to dab the paint on. I would use fabric paint. Hi Melissa,Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

Watching from Florida. When you say let it dry overnight ,you are peeling the stencil off?
Hi Margaret, Yes, I'm peeling off the stencil right away while it's still wet, then letting it dry overnight. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
I'm a newbie & just found your videos. Thank you!🤩 Do you add any finish or varnish on top of the dried stencil design?
Hi Kathy, yes I seal everything. My normal go to for sealer is Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish. It's great for all surfaces. It's heat and water resistant and also food safe. I'll leave you a link below. Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊 ❤️

I want to do a 48" stencil on the wooden floor in my entryway. Have you any tips for making a painted stencil extremely durable?
Ok, I have some information for you. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back with you. I needed to get hold of my contact for Polyvine. They make a varnish product for wood floors that will work perfectly for you. I'm going to leave you a few links. But don't try to order through the links, they're based in the UK. Please let me know if you want to order this, my contact said she'll take care of having it shipped to you. Thanks so much for watching 💖😊

Such a useful video❤❤❤❤can you please tell me how I can remove the glue from the stencil?Greetings from Athens Greece 😊

If you're going to stencil, you'll need an adhesive that's thick, so I recommend this: Adhesive-Deco Foil Transfer Gel: decoupagenapkins.com/products/transfer-gel-duo-deco-foil-medium-4-oz?sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt
I would use Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish to seal your beautiful creation.

Hello there, New York here! can you use that adhesive if you're stenciling on paper?
Hi Denise, The one I used in the video has a very strong tack and a very strong odor. Since this video I've found another brand that I recommend highly. It has a very light tack, so yes, you would be able to use it on paper. And it has no smell, which is a plus for me. I'll leave you a link below. It's a safe link. Hi Izzy, They all cost about the same. But I can tell you it lasts for a long time because you don't need much. Here's a link for one on Amazon, but it actually costs a little bit more. If you have Prime with free shipping, it may be the way to go. It'll be cheaper in the end.

Any suggestions on how to use a stencil on material like a tshirt or denim?
Hi Rena, you'll need to spray the stencil with repositionable spray so it sticks to the fabric. Use a sponge stippler/dauber to dab the paint on. I would use fabric paint. Here are a couple links for the spray adhesive and the daubers. Let me know how your project turns out 😊💖
