Fun fact: The original plan was for Loki to actually die in this movie after his redemption.
This didn’t go over well with test audiences, Loki had already become a fan favorite and they just couldn’t believe Loki was dead and not playing a trick. So Hiddleston was called back to film the reveal scenes that Loki had indeed, faked his death and we as the audience got to enjoy more Loki later on down the MCU road. Loki is such a great character and the MCU literally wouldn’t be the same without him!

Personally, Thor the Dark World is one of my favorites. I know most people don’t enjoy it, but I do like the storyline. But especially due to the fact it gives a bit more depth to Loki- which is always a good thing for someone obsessed with him like me /hj

I have been so excited for you to get to this one! This is my 2nd favorite film of the MCU to date, with the first Avengers being my top pick.
This movie is widely considered on the lower tier of the MCU, however with Loki being my absolute favorite MCU character, how could I not I love this movie!
Other than the Loki reasons to love this movie, this movie is beautiful and highly entertaining for me. Frigga’s funeral is probably one of the most beautiful scenes in the MCU, visually, the score, the emotion and seriousness, it was all done very well.
The family drama going on, as well as Jane and Thor trying to figure where they are at, relationship wise. I enjoyed how Odin and Thor reversed roles with Thor being a voice of reason and Odin in complete grief stricken state of devastation is willing to sacrifice all of Asgard in the name of revenge. Jane slapping Thor & Loki, and sassing Odin was perfect and why I enjoy Jane as a character so much, she doesn’t take any crap off anyone, even space Viking gods. Of course Loki likes Jane, and he actually protects her twice. The first time is when is right after the Aether is removed from her and Thor is trying to destroy it. Loki jumps on top of Jane covering her with his body, then moments late is when he pushes her out of the way of the black hole grenade.
The humor level was just enough and done in a more sarcastic, dry, combative way, which is my favorite type of humor along with dark humor. I agree that the Dark Elves looked awesome and creepy. I really liked how there seemed to be a thin layer of grit & grey over the movie visually.
I could go on and on about this movie, needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction and cannot wait for the next one from you!!!
    💚🗡️💚

"Don't look at her like that." The funny thing about that was that the actress is Chris Hemsworth's real wife. Natalie Portman was also unavailable for reshoots so his wife put on a wig and is the one kissing him in the post credits scene.

    Great reaction! 😊
This is one of those movies that the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it. Loki will always be my favorite part of this movie. Especially that scene after Thor breaks him out, and goes through the different disguises. The Captain America disguise is my favorite. LOL! And when Loki is "backseat driving" while he and Thor are escaping, with Jane, from Asgard.
RIP to Thor’s mother Frigga. I think that's the only scene of the movie that I don't like to watch.
Fun Fact: The part where you see Thor and Jane kissing in the post-credit scene is actually Chris Hemsworth's real-life wife Elsa Pataky wearing a brunette wig. I've read several different reasons why Natalie Portman didn't film the kiss part in the post-credit scene.
Fun Fact #2: Thor's friend Fandral was a recast from the first movie. The actor who played in the first "Thor" was played by Josh Dallas. He had scheduling conflicts with this movie and his show "Once Upon a Time"(which I VERY HIGHLY recommend) which had gotten picked up.
And I loved that we got to see Jane on Asgard in this one.
Up Next: One of my top favorites "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

The Collector is one of the "Elders of the Universe" - each one has his own obsession. The Collector is obsessed with - you guessed it - collecting things. He's not a bad guy, but he's not a good guy either. He's not out to conquer the universe or kill anyone. He just wants to add to his collection. He's not above doing unethical things for the sake of his collection, but he's a generally honest person - which he has to be to have the trust of the people who bring him stuff for his collection. If he wasn't, no one would trust him or bring him stuff.
Some of the Elders of the Universe are full-on horrible people, and others are reasonably decent people.

This movie gets dumped on a lot, but there are a lot of enjoyable scenes in it. Darcy is hilarious, and Loki’s scenes make the entire movie worth watching all by himself. Is it my favorite! No. But I enjoy it.

It was a great theatrical experience when it was released. As always I enjoyed your reaction. Looks forward to what's on deck next. The bar is set very high so even a solid, quality movie can get panned. Be good ☺️ have a great rest of your day.

In Norse Mythology, Lady Sif is Thor's wife. That's why this version of Sif is pissed and hostile towards Jane, she has feelings Thor that are obviously not reciprocated. Speaking of wives, the woman who runs up and kisses Thor is Chris Hemsworth's actual wife, not Natalie Portman.

Um, last time Dr. Selvig saw Loki, Loki took over his brain, forced him into mind-controlled slavery, connected his mind to the Chitauri portal, and left him to die while he tried to conquer the Earth and kill or subjugate everyone and everything Dr. Selvig cares about.
I think he's allowed to be relieved that Loki is dead.

1:59 - These super-mega-ultra-powerful things serve a purpose. But you have a ways to go for the payoff. 😉
4:08 - This is meant to be Korg, but the future MCU apparently had other plans.
5:05 - Odin trying to have Thor get with Sif is a nod to Norse mythology, where they're actually husband and wife. At issue for me, however, is that Sif is supposed to have long, luxurious blonde hair, and Jaimie Alexander is very much not blonde. Her hair is black, not brown. She's, like, ANTI-blonde. I mean, her... Okay, I think you get it. 😁
6:37 - I really don't understand why they had to have this subplot of him experiencing a psychotic break. And naked. Him being naked was wholly unnecessary.
7:57 - The same applies to Darcy's intern. Darcy was enough comic relief. He's dead weight.
8:44 - Honestly, our galaxy - just one of MANY galaxies - is huge beyond comprehension. Her finding the Aether is akin to finding one specific sewing needle on a planet made entirely of sewing needles.
    9:00 - Really, Kay? 😂
11:32 - Okay, we get it. They don't speak English. Clever writing and directing would create some contrivance to have the audience understand without subtitles at this point. It's distracting, not immersive. They could bring back the language barrier later if it becomes necessary... but it doesn't.
12:31 - I can't help but wonder if they'd mapped out all of phase three by this point. (If anyone knows, please share.) This explanation of the Aether being fluid really doesn't make sense later on.
14:51 - No! (You'll just have to trust me.) 😉
28:28 - Okay, this is simply me being pedantic, but "Now!" would have been sufficient. Instead, we got: "Loki, now!" I mean, who else would he have been shouting to? It's not like Jane was rockin' any powers anymore. They're surrounded by trained warriors. It should have played out: "Loki, n-" and then both of their heads are shot off in the next instant. Never mind. Carry on.
    31:54 - "Reassurance." Yeah, you wish! 😁
38:08 - The Collector. He's supposed to be one of the Elders of the Universe, all of whom are OUTRAGEOUSLY powerful. But in the MCU...? He's just a plot contrivance.
41:29 - Natalie Portman wasn't available for this scene, so Chris Hemsworth is kissing his actual wife. 🙂

This movie was bottom MCU for me, but after watching it again recently, it’s not that bad actually. I think this is a product of how collectively great the first few phases of the MCU is compared to recent movies.

There were plenty of good things about it. Loki is great, as always, and the whole running gag of "If you betray him, I'll kill you." Great visuals and action scenes, as always. But it had a number of problems:
The villain was boring and forgettable. Just a generically evil-for-the-sake-of-evil bad guy. The universe is already almost completely darkness anyway. You're telling me you can't live with those tiny points of light in the vast darkness of space?
Dr. Selvig naked and without pants was a cheap, low-brow gag, that didn't really add anything to the story.
None of the other Avengers notice what's going on?
The whole movie is little bits that set up for future MCU movies, weakly tied together with a contrived story.

  • @neospock5034

Yaaaay Kay! While one of the weaker MCU movies, this one was still a fun watch. And honestly it's quite underrated, giving audiences a closer look at the MCU's Asgard and its people, as well as fleshing our the timeline/history of the past 5000 years. And as you mentioned, the costume design/visual aesthetic for the Dark Elves was really something.
Anyway, most of the next half-dozen or so MCU movies are top tier, so buckle up- it's a wild ride ahead!!
