The space age toilets on peel street killed the gay culture of the town,,,as I had many a good time at the former Gents. Both the in and outdoor markets were fabulous were one could order themselves a Coffee and or a porkpie..the railway industry at that time of the early 70s was still used by Lokal signal boxes and after 1973 was taken over by Preston Power Signal box using the remote color light system.....

I remember that the Ewbank canteen used to make all the meals for the local 'Meals on Wheels'.
Wow I remember this I was 7 and I use to live in the Duke of Wellington as well accy was packed and buzzing then.
