I used to enjoy this regularly when it was on the shelf 7-8 years ago and at 70ish (if I remember), and I was sad when it was gone. Kind of like Unforgiven…but not at 125$…. Sigh
An ice cream place near me has black licorice and it's great. The color can be off-putting for some but it is the flavor I always choose.
I enjoy sauteed mushrooms but cannot stand black licorice. I had a bit too much ouzo in my early twenties, so that's a no-go.
If you saw a jackelope in San Antonio, it must have been in the Buckhorn Saloon. Or the Hall of Horns back in the day…
Speaking of spices, when taster says baking spices, what does that mean to you
I do prefer whiskies with strong identifying notes. I recently tried a straight bourbon single barrel that straight up tasted like blueberry. Love your videos! Cheers!
Thanks for the honesty Fred! People have gone crazy for this bottle, sounds like a rarity rather than quality chase.
Liberty Pole announced a Full Proof Traditional Monongahela Rye today. Can't wait to get it.
Black Licorice: it's weird bc I don't particularly care for it, but I like the flavoring of it in things such as Jager and Sambuca...
Haven’t tried that bourye but the Redwood version (Lost Monarch I think) definitely gives off French vanilla, like vanilla wafers.
A little off topic but I thought you may know...have you heard of Cumberland Cask Distillers? I found one of their experimental Cacao Nib single barrels today and have been trying to find some more info on them. Thanks for any info
Thank you, someone finally a Tuber reviewed this.
I generally don't like anise,..but once in a while it adds a unique flavor as long as it really faint 🤷♂️
I picked up a set of Viski glasses a couple months ago and they are not my go to!
Yes to black licorice! I look for it in whiskey and cigars.
Love black licorice. Best with absinthe in a Sazerac
I’m a barrel fan, have you an opportunity to try barrel king products. UA-cam is giving it much love
I love black licorice. Thanks for keeping it short brother Fred.
Been turned off of High West for a few years now. Quality hasn’t been great while prices have blown up.
lol, $50 maybe and then seeing the SRP killed me
Me too
Lol
I’m looking for a nice bourbon with good banana flavors, suggestions? Woodford Reserve is nice but looking for something more complex and richer.
1920 old Forrester 🥃
Hey Fred, love the vids! I have to ask, and I know you probably get asked all the time, but I can not seem to find the answer. What is the story behind the ascot?
Haha. Long story. Maybe a video? In the short, i always liked them!!!
As a kid I loved Vicks 44D cough syrup . Yes black licorice is good .
Sounds like you may like bitter foods? That the case?
@@FredMinnick Not really .
🥃🥃
Another solid review
Single Cask Nation did their own version. 75% bourbon, 25% rye, all MGP. It would have been better to have kept them apart, IMHO 🙁
Black licorice posse!
Edit: Picked up a bottle of this a couple years ago. My least favorite High West product to date. Just didn't impress me. Definitely not worth the price.
I used to be able to pick this up for $35 when they first came out. Not worth $125
Made my bourye, Alberta Premium and Okd Forster 117, had to tone down the rye. Way better!!!
Be weather aware, brother. It's tornado season!
Creme brulee??
Should've watched till the end before commenting😅
I usually love BouRye, but not worth the new price.
Choose fred🥃🥃👊
I've got a bottle of this open, paid $62. I think it would be a lot better between 100-110 proof. Will not buy again at $125!
I’ll make my own burrye for way less.
$125... NOPE.
