They really need a love it button!!! Like just isn't good enough. Fully understand the feeling alone when working on the property feelings as well as the camera helps by giving you someone to talk to! I discovered that on the last trip to our project. This is quickly joining the short list of favorite channels for me because it is so relatable!
You guys play off of each other really well! I'm amazed you have the energy to record your progress with all you have going on! It seems like a beautiful spot. I was looking at the blue sky behind you during the video....so blue and clear. Good luck with the shed!
This is one of your earliest videos but I just ran across it today. I've commented on some of your other videos and it's great to see where you guys were just getting started and how far you have come. I always look forward to your new videos. You guys brighten my day every time that you post a new one. By the way, the music in this video is great.
Pro tip: @12:00 Put teflon tape on the thread of the pipe plugs. If you don't, the UV and dirt will make them impossible or near impossible to remove in a year or two...
Using a water hose to check level and/or angle of a trench is one of the easiest ways to monitor your depth and pitch. Water always finds it's own level regardless of the distance or grade. 60' of rolling meadow or uphill ground means you can't trust your eyes from the operator's seat.
That's great, John! Congratulations! It is one of the best purchases we have made for our property. You won't regret getting one and it will pay for itself in one project. - Meg
Yep a general use pole with your outdoor breaker box. It's fun watching you guys. I know I am 20 videos behind but if you have any questions or need a hand, we are only a msg or an hour away.
Thanks Russ 👍 I might be hitting you up with some chicken questions when the time comes to get some animals on the property. Excited for that. Enjoy catching up! I love when people find us and binge from the beginning!
John, loose the chain and get more cable, cable clamps and shackles to move all the rocks and trees. The cables are a lot safer! Also, teach Meg to run Rickie, just in case!
Now it’s time to buy your biggest investment for the tractor. Go buy a p.t.o. Driven generator. You’ll have power wherever you can drive the tractor, and when you loose power to the house that generator will run everything you need. Mine has saved my butt several times. Make sure when you wire your house you put in an interlock on the electrical panel, and a 50 amp plug mounted outside the house somewhere the tractor can park next to. Small investment for piece of mind. Especially water!
I like that idea, and must say I didn't even consider that before. We will probably be on solar, due to the distance of running a line to the bottom of the property. I can see how this would be useful when we have a long period of dormancy and the panels aren't generating what we need. Thanks for the idea 👍
Good luck on your new Homestead. Your right about the tractor wave. I watch the Out Doors with the Morgans. They had RK Tractors for a year. Fine tractor. Back in 14 I bought a Kubota L3301 with loader. We heat with wood so thats the tractors main job. But everyone would agree. Once a tractor is purchased the physical job has changed. Pretty much unlimited as well.
Thanks for the well wishes, fellow tractor buddy 😉. I've already put a good 160 hours on it and it's been invaluable, especially with that backhoe. I don't know how I survived without one before. Sounds like you have a nice machine yourself. Can't go wrong with a kubota.
I feel the responsibility to tell you to be careful because once you have purchased your first tractor that a lot of guys come down with a sickness called tractor fever. So far there’s no cure for it and before you realize what’s happening you have 10 or 12 tractors and all of the different attachments and then you’re building a big barn and so on
Hi Walnuts and Wineberries - Thanks for this! We've got a new RK store near us and I"ve been looking at the RK37. If you get a minute and haven't already seen our channel, we'd love if you'd check it out! Thanks in advance, Chad.
Très belle vidéo Très beau tracteur et très bien équipé Dommage qu'il n'y en ait pas en France, J'aimerais bien en essayer un et certainement en acheter un
Congrats on your new toy. Please realize you'll be bombarded with all the things you should have on the tractor. Enjoy it and be safe. 👍🏽🙂 Enjoyed your video. New Subscriber here to show support. Have a fine upcoming weekend and have fun.
Awesome video sir my wife and I are looking at the same tractor for her to use in the garden and around the yard. We have a small farm here in Lynchburg Ohio but my bigger farm tractors are to big for her in the garden and around her flowers.
That would be a good choice. Happy to answer any questions you have about it, but it sounds like you're quite knowledgeable already. Just curious, how big is your garden?
Our garden is a little less than an acre but we usually have at least 4 acres of sweet corn too. My wife is wanting a small tractor with a 4 foot tiller that she can drive between the rows
Haha! Sorry to leave a cliff hanger. You can see what the rock looks like unearthed on episode 6. We learned it came from an old house's fireplace hearth. We plan on incorporating it into our house build, but that's realistically 2 years from now. We'll save it for something special. Need to honor it somehow.
Best of luck on your homestead, and congrats on the tractor! I was looking at the rk25 with the back hoe but the 6% interest scared me. Is that the case with all the rk stores?
Hi guys. Just came across the channel. Doing a binge watch at thee moment. Got to ask Jon, what it your work back ground? I noticed that it looks like you could be a kind of silver smith. Have you worked with heavy equipment in the past? WOW, y'all have taken on a major project. The house build, driveway build, etc, etc..... Good luck!! Prayers are with you and yours.
Thanks for your kind words, Dennis! Jon and I both were jewelers before Covid. Before that Jon was in computer programing and development/management. The tractor was the first piece of equipment either of us have used. - Meg
@@WalnutsandWineberries Still bingeing. Up to episode 29 so far. Thanks for getting back to me. Are you positive about the location of the house? Looks like about a mile or more to get from your road up to the proposed house location. You both may need 4 wheel drive vehicles in the snow and ice to climb that mountain of yours. I used to be one of the "Snow Plow" drivers in Kentucky. Just wondering. More later. Be well and safe!!
They came with the tractor. If you watch episode 13, I share some info on them about 12 mins. in. They are by Titan. The rear tires are 9.5-16R-1. The fronts are 6-12R-1.
Yes, I've put about 150 hours on the tractor now and I'm still loving it. The Yanmar diesel is a great engine in this thing. Very dependable and plenty strong for what I need. I like how there are standard things on this tractor that are add-ons when compared to others, like the rear utility hydraulics if you want to run a log splitter or something like that. The skid steer style quick attach in the front is wonderful also. I feature the tractor a lot in the channel, so check out the other vids if you're interested. I don't think you could go wrong with either tractor.
I know the rear tires are 9.5-16R-1. They are made by Titan and it says, "Hi-traction Lug" on the sidewalls. I'll try to look for the front tires' size too and reply again when I do. Hope that helps.
Just thought I'd let you know, our latest episode (#13) has a segment about the tractor tires and the sizes. I'm thinking the fronts are 12x6 even though the video shows 12.5x6. Anyway, check it out if you're still shopping for your own.
@1:48 your tractor dealer should have sold you chains for securing the tractor to the trailer. Straps are known to stretch and tractors have literally fallen off trailers when crossing railroad tracks and small bridges with bumps are either end. Check out Messicks' videos, they did a feature on trailers and tractors after they had a salesman who lost a brand new tractor delivering it to a customer because he didn't use chains; he used straps.

The big stone could be a part of a fireplace if it's not a front step or sill base? Hearthstone, maybe?
I am soooo jealous of the tractor! Your first step to real manhood! Just remember where you are burying all the wires and pipes.
Haha Don! Feels good to have your support. I'm glad I have all this video so I can reference back to where all the piping and wires are.

The 1988 Ford Bronco II is the newest vehicle I've ever had. Maybe my 1959 Ford Galaxy 500 was the newest rig I had before that.
