Chorus:
Chorus pedals mimic the effect
choirs and string orchestras
produce naturally by mixing sounds
with slight differences in timbre and pitch.
Phaser:
A phaser or "phase shifter"
creates a slight rippling effect - amplifying some aspects
of the tone while diminishing others - by splitting
an audio signal in two and altering the phase of one portion.
Flanger:
A flanger creates a "jet plane" or "spaceship" sound,
simulating a studio effect produced
by recording a track on two synchronized tapes
and periodically slowing one tape by pressing
the edge of its reel (the "flange").
Tremolo:
A tremolo effect produces a slight,
rapid variation in the volume of a note or chord.
Vibrato:
Vibrato effects produce slight, rapid variations in pitch,
mimicking the fractional semitone variations produced
naturally by opera singers and violinists
when prolonging a single note.
Wah-wah:
Wah is a type of guitar effects pedal that alters the tone of the
signal to create a distinctive effect, mimicking the human voice.
The pedal sweeps the peak response of a filter up and down
in frequency to create the sound (spectral glide),
also known as "the wah effect."
Delay/Echo:
Delay/Echo units produce an echo effect
by adding a duplicate instrument-to-amplifier
electrical signal to the original signal at a slight time-delay.
Reverb:
Reverb units simulate sounds produced
in an echo chamber by creating a large number
of echoes that gradually fade or "decay".
Overdrive/Distortion
Over/Dist effects are sometimes called "gain" effects.
Distortion effects create "warm", "gritty" and "fuzzy" sounds
by "clipping" an instrument's audio signal,
which distorts the shape of its wave form and adds overtones.
Noise gate:
Noise gates eliminate "hum", "hiss" and "static"
by greatly diminishing the volume of sounds
that fall below a set threshold.
Acoustic Simulator:
Acoustic Simulators enable electric guitars
to mimic the sound of acoustic guitar.

Best guitar effect
good video! I liked the fact that you didn't talk for about 15 minutes before showing the effects like in most videos! thanks
Vivien Howard yes, I agree
🤣 ha ha ha
Jahan Kassah I believe he's saying that 'others' speak for 15 minutes.
Exactly
0:12 - Chorus
0:49 - Phaser
1:31 - Flanger
2:10 - Tremolo
2:44 - Vibrato
3:18 - Wah-Wah
4:08 - Delay/Echo
4:42 - Reverb
5:19 - Overdrive/Distortion
5:51 - Noise Gate
6:50 - Acoustic Simulator
Real one
Thx great video, basically they really aren't needed except for a tuner !
Not a bad video. Don't listen to what other people said. They point of this video wasn't to show off skill or anything. It was suppose to showcase different effects and that's exactly what it did. Missed a few effects though.
what makes the most serious man on earth smile? Playing a distorted guitar without noise gate :D
Then hitting the noise gate on brings him back into his usual state.
You gotta keep the animal in the cage. You cannot stay serious with him around
These comments made me laugh LOL
lighten up man . the guy didn't say he could shred . he showed what the pedals do , and he did . you do better ... don't hate men ... he didn't force you to watch . WELL DONE DONE DUDE .
I like the simplicity of this video. A must watch for all young guitar adepts. Keep rockin
He was afraid to get copyright if he played original COME AS YOU ARE 😂😂😂
Ikr
Wat? No one ever gets the copyright just by playing someone's track.
I'd be afraid too
Στεφανε εσυ χαχα
Lol
Thanks for the useful demonstration! Also thank you for having the "clean" part played before every effect, and not talking between the two!
The comments under guitar videos have to be the most ugliest. It's sad that such a beautiful instrument is surrounded by horrible people. Anyway, good job with demonstrating the different effects :) very helpful.
Others tutorial wasting time with too much chatting & explaination. This video basically 7 minutes get straight to the point. Thank youuu
3:54 lil wayne solo👀
Terreberry would be prpud
Steve terreberry: you can learn how to cook a stew
Didn't know Gru could play guitar
They might be Triplet their mom got some explaining to do.
Gruuvy
He can’t
Gooorlss
JoeVal12 X2 oh yeah yeah
this was actually super helpful, thanks. I loved the demonstration of both chords and single notes as well as the no talking
As someone who doesn't play guitar but was interested in the different effects I found this incredibly helpful
You literally got straight to the point and I understood instantly as a person who is learning about the electric guitar! I don’t know why other people are complaining about other things! Thank you
Now combine everything
Then you have Shoegaze
I was always a bit curious as to what the different effects sounded like..Now i have my list of effects i want...Many thanks.
Finally someone who doesn't take a review or teaching as an excuse to show off his mastery on the guitar! Excellent!!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video, much appreciated. By the way, ignore the muppets and their negative comments.
Nice tour of common/essential Fx Sounds. I like that you chose to stay so focussed on SOUNDS instead of confusing the Beginner with Brand Names or crazy, flashy licks.
Also nice that you showed how the effect sounds with BOTH chords and single note melodic lines. Thanks!
THis taught me more about guitar pedals than most of the more recent videos on it. SHow and Tell.
I thank you VERY MUCH for a nice demonstration of various electric guitar effects. About the mains ones missed here are the blues effect and 12-string effect. This video may be VERY HELPFUL in me explaining stuff to other people. My least favorites are the distortion and overdrive. I thank you VERY MUCH for your demo! I particularly liked you saving probably the best for last--the acoustic effect. That was AMAZING!
Thank you! I'm a general music teacher that wants to learn more about guitar for my students. This was a big help
Marvellous! You perfectly explained the pedals clearing all doubts regarding guitar pedals without wasting a second.
Thank you.. This is the BEST video explaining the effect pedals on UA-cam..
All others has the presenter giving their life stories, stupid jokes and with annoying talks..
This is straight to the point. Love it.. Subscribed
"You play horribly! Weeeh!"
"You guitar is off-tune! Weeeeh!"
Ok... * takes deep breath. *
1. Not the point of the video;
2. Risk of copyright strike if any of the songs rub the site's policy the wrong way;
3. Have you watched his other videos?;
4. What part of "All guitar effects demonstration in one video (MOST POPULAR effects demo)" is so hard to get? This is an introductory video for laymen and beginners who wanna learn about electric guitar effects and their differences, not for people who already are in intermediate/advanced stages!
5. Maybe this is why half of you never managed to get inside a band or didn't stay in it for long despite playing well??? Abrasive attitude, lack of objective thinking, and difficulty at providing feedback in a positive light. These are all the ingredients for a horrible group dynamic. Being good just doesn't cut it. That's what separates the amateur from the professional.
Guitar 101: tune the freaking thing.
This is what I need. Thank you!
This is the best video demonstrating a variety of pedals. easy to follow and to the point... doesn't have all the annoying excess that we're not trying to hear. Thank you, Mykola Yermolenko, excellent quality video!
Well done, exactly what i was looking for. Simple and straight to the point! Nice job, man! 😉
This is the GOLD standard for making videos! Within 30 seconds I finally acquired what I've been searching endless videos for! Thank you outstanding job! The remaining attempted "instructors" intermingle Far too much vocalizing. Why this why that bla bla bla then pluck 2 strings then back to talk talk bla bla why this is or why that is. OR an impossibly too complex display of there talent to apply to beginner anything. Thanks for a genuinely helpful video. Seriously the only one period concerning effects pedals
All of the negativity about the guitar skills. Look at the title. Does it say good guitar skills? No it says guitar pedal effects. Everyone starts somewhere and I bet half of the people being hateful don’t even own a guitar.
Is it just me or did that 'phaser' sound way more like a flanger?
X-Games phaser and flanger sound similar.
Tim G yea but a Phaser and a Flanger have a distinguishable sound, it's easy to tell which one is which
I came into the comments to say that. XD
Arkei95 I thought I was the only one
and the flanger like a talk box
Very informative video also for someone who just jumped into the rock scene. Thank you
distortion and overdrive is my favorite
brilliantly done. no bull. this is exactly what anyone wanting to know what a pedal does wants. well done
Ignore all of the negative buttcheeses on here, great job of letting beginners hear what each pedal does!!! Even EVH can’t play like Steve Vai👍🏼
Thanks for posting, this is very educational and will help me decide which effects I need and which I don’t. Two questions: 1.Is there a more subtle version of the wah effect? What I mean is can you add different “amounts” of wah, so it is more subtle and not as extreme sounding as is done here? 2: could you possibly put times in the video description? When fast forwarding in the video I can’t really tell where I am. Thanks!
I think all of us watch the other guys talking for 15 minutes about all this effect pedals without showing us what the hell they were talking about , until we found you sir and I want to thank you for this awesome video thank you and God bless you .
Lots of Eddie Van Halens on the comment section.
Why is 80% of the comments section suddenly refined guitar experts?
Hahahahaha
Maybe they are guitar hero fanatics.
Thank you for making this video! Short, and straight to the point, awesome!
Please don't listen to these negative people in the comments, the video was to showcase the effects and that's exactly what it did.
dude plays the happiest riff with the chuggiest pedal
I need that noise gate like ASAP! Lol I thought my guitar was broken 😂😅
Nice project. Great 👏
Thanks a lot man, was exactly what I was looking for.
Simple and informative with no rambling or junk, great vid! Thanks and keep it up!
Right to the point. No bull shit. Well edited and idiot proof. Thank you !
Thanks a lot for this, this video is a great introduction to anyone that's wondering what guitar pedals are all about.
Great use of individual effects. We really appreciate straight forward and easy to understand videos.
Man, at last someone who gets down to business and informs clearly what he is doing without stupid shit, thank you, really helpful video...
This guy is fucking hilarious.
99% comments talking about negative comments but i havent seen any negative comment under this video
This is my go to video when making arrangements! Thank you!
Wow, exactly what i was looking for. Couldn't explain it. Thank you!!
Thank you for this serious video! This exactly like I was looking for. A video showing the guitar effects without senseless talking or lame jokes the opposite of what Steve T. does. Thank you!
He isn't serious, he's an alien.
Still better than Steve T., though XD
stutter666 I can't understand what you american's have against stevie T , he just try to create feeling with his followers , laughing togheter ( I hope it's written this way ) and showing our passion for guitar
I'm not american, I'm Brazilian. I don't care what he's trying to do, I don't like it. And I cannot speak for anyone else, that is solely my personal taste.
stutter666 yes but there are tooooo many people under his videos who flame him beacause of he's style , I just can't understand them , he is just sharing his passion with us
Great but I wish the guitar was on overdrive the whole time so I could see solo effects
The simplicity of this video will definitely help beginners to be able to choose what suits them best.
But seriously, tune that guitar...
Good video, you just helped me narrow down what I wanted to get myself today, thank you so much
Great video man, straight to the point!
shit... now i know... noise gate... this is what i need...
It's Miss Othmar at 03:47!
Thanks for this. Excellent demonstration s and explanations of the most popular effects. Seeing it helped my kids understand and even discern between phase/flange/chorus. While I play, it's easier to hit arrows or J and L instead of repeating the stuff until my fingers bled. Bonus: we all loved your "Just the facts, ma'am. video, playing a few different styles to give a better demonstration. You also added text to describe (coulda been longer &/or left on the bottom of the screen while you played the demos), you didn't sit there babbling on and on.- Thumbs ups from all my accounts..
Thx for putting the time in to make this Video. Not like some pessimistic people that only have negative replies should keep their thoughts to themselves.
Thanks! A picture (or in this case an audio demo) is worth a thousand words.
I dont think anyone would set there flangers or phaser pedals to that extreme. there used for subtle tone shifts. The settings you have them at, there more for peoples amusement.
Also that reverb sounds awful.
Every effect was set that way, I assume to show people what they sound like. If it's subtle, it's hard to tell what it sounds like.
I didnt know a thing like the noise gate exists, thats a must buy.
I love how easy it is to understand this, keep it up
Straight foward. Thank you so much
3:00 lmao I would call it the spongebob sound
I like the video because he just show what the pedals do,he didn't try to show how fast he could lay metal licks,he didn't show he can play funk guitar and didn't play to a backing track.Although Any another guitar reviewer plays to a backing track.I like Andy cause he shows you what the product he's reviewing dose not how fast he can play licks.
Nice clear demo, thanks. Ideal for a beginner.
I think it’s deadcool 😎 how you manifest in the title because this is the best guitar video on UA-cam! Don’t you think these sounds are so high vibes like telepathy or something
@:40 it sounded like Come As You Are by Nirvan.
kinda
+TheBomb100 You dont say. He played the same note....
Tremolo sounds amazing ❤️❤️
Fuzz
Octaver
When I saw 'Wah Pedal' I immediately thought of Kirk Hammett.
John reed and I'm sure Kirk Hammett thought of you.
you mean Kirk Wahmmet.
Take It Easy - I'm Easily Offended lil Wayne
not jimi hendrix?
Sad
The phaser sounds so cool omds
OMG MY ABSOLUTE FAV IS WAH WAH!!!
All i need is to hear the sounds. Everything is up to me now. Off to the store!
Thanks for demystifying effects pedals. Great examples of different setting. Now, if I could only play as well as you.
Thanks so much for giving us an idea to how these pedals will sound like. Definitely gonna buy some and try new things with my band 🤘🏼
finally this I have been searching for 15 minutes
Why do you look so calm yet so aggresive at the same time
THANK you! Most other videos play a song with the effect, and not without. Guess we are supposed to automatically know the original sound.
The acoustic pedal is easily the weirdest one. It's eerily accurate to what an actual acoustic guitar sounds like lol.
wish I'd thought about an acoustic simulator before buying a separate acoustic amp, alas it's no real substitute unless you don't want to swap between guitar/amp set-ups on stage I guess.
I love this! I'm new to it so this is phenomenal learning for me!
great demo ... thank you very much ... my only comment would be to put the name of each effect in the place of "effect" ON / OFF ... doesn't affect the high quality of the demo, though ...
Thanks the demo mate. imo the ones most worth getting are distortion and reverb.
Question for someone whose smart hopefully. Would a noise gate reduce the sound off scratching from blocked off notes through my amp. Like when im playing a song that I need to strum but only want 2 notes to come through, I end up scratching the other strings making it sound really annoying. would a noise gate help that?
I would assume so, maybe turn your tone down some too? probably the most important thing is to make sure your properly muting the other strings with your index finger, even if its not perfect. As long as you aim your strums right and fret right you'll e golden
Agree that's sounded more like about technique than the riggings of the guitar you need to learn to mute the unwanted strings
Great video straight to the point will use this now as a reference and check out his site.
Ins of the most instructive lessons, great work and Präsentation!
Cool, need one of these for my Dark ambient/Noise project
the comment section is cancer.
Nice demo. No bullshit.
What would it sound like if you combined: Chorus, Reverb, Phaser, Tremolo and Delay/Echo.
Thanks for the demo. Short and to the point.
Great video
Flanger, Wah-Wah, and Distortion are my favorite effects.
Lol same
I like the distortion with noise gate. I've wonder what that's called since I was kid
Is it ok to buy a distortion pedal, even if my amp has built in distortion?
Sure, pedals have often a different sound than a pre installed distortion
@@mr.t206 Got it, thanks. Thought I was being stupid 😅
