I bought this thing on MRTV's recommendation and regretted it the moment I put it on. Firstly my facial interface was far from perfect. It leaked light under my temples. Secondly I got it mainly for playing Elite dangerous and while colors and blacks were fenomenal, resolution very good, the awful glare and tiny sweetspot (comparable to my moded G2) killed the experience . Plus I find FOV on pair with moded G2 which is another dissapointment. Weight is really nice though. Watching 4K movies on BigScreen is pretty nice but again, glare is A BIG problem in high contrast scenes. Strange when this headset was designed mainly for movie watching . All in all not worth cca 1500€ investment imho so I returned it. They charged me 200€ but I don't blame them for that. The unit was working as advertised, it's just not for me. I'll be sticking with G2/Q3 combo for now in hopes something better comes out this year. Maybe something from ASUS, Lenovo, LG, Samsung?

I think it was kind of subtle, but if you watch most of MRTV's videos it seems like he thought the pimax crystal was much better overall and now that the light is coming the BSB is not worth it from 99% of people even enthusiasts with unlimited cash. MRTV also mentioed that the slim face gasket is an absolute necessity to get a good experience, but when I ordered one they told me you get what you get and we can make changes later so I cancelled my order.

I've been loving the beyond with Elite. Got me back into playing it after a long hiatus. The one main negative(fov) isn't too bad and actually helps when playing on foot as you don't see the grey screen as much. It's not perfect but at least I got that brick (index for 4 years) off my head. Also any light leakage means your gasket is not correct

I received my audio strap 04-16-24 and finding it much more comfortable than the soft strap. I find the sound to be fine when using it in X-Plane 12 over my 2 to 3 hour flights. I received my final version of the Beyond in the middle of December after having a headset with the wrong IPD and have been happy ever sense. I am coming from a 1200 gram Vive Pro 2 so size and weight were big selling points for me.

1st, Thanks for the Video! I have been using the BSB since March, and it is undoubtedly the best VR set I have ever used (CV1, Rift S, Index, Reverb G2, Varjo Aero). It does not have the clarity of the Aero, but the colors of the Micro-Oled, especially the deep blacks, are just WOW. I have yet to experience the Glare that others have experienced. When I fly towards a Star in Elite Dangerous, it gets a bit bright, but I expect that. In general usage, I do not sense the Glare. I agree that it gets a bit warm with the facial interface, The sweet spot is not as generous as the Aero, its' edge to edge clarity is something I miss but as you said, the form factor mitigates that difference. I can't imagine flying in the deep black of the Galaxy with anything other than an Oled screen. This is now my daily driver, and I am pleased with it, warts and all. Again, thanks for the Video!

Thanks for the honest review of this VR headset. I had to hang a couple of older VR headsets I bought because of having such a small sweet spot them. OLED VR headsets are going to be notorious for some glare and Mira Some are not so bad, but you never know till we buy the VR headset. Seems the price of this VR headset is the same as the Valve Index at 999.00 dollars. That would be about as high as I would go to buy a VR headset. The Beyond VR headset does not interest me at all.
I have the Quest 3 now for doing SIM racing and works great for me. Good clarity and nice large sweet spot for me. SIM racing games seem to all work good with the headset. I have it connected via a USB link cable for best performance.
Thanks for your video. Take care.

I have a whole fleet of headsets going back to 2013, and this is my clear favorite! The Crystal is nice but it's way too heavy for me and the Vajo Aero is fantastic but you really miss the true darks of the OLED display or even the local dimming of the Crystal.
To me, the fact I never think twice about moving my head around activetly because the Beyond is so light and stays perfectly in place is a gamechanger...yes the god rays remind you it's only a headset sometimes but no other headset is this immersive when everything is looking perfect and you can forget that you are in a game (all the more reason that being broken frrom that space is so frustrating). Still, it's the best for me hands down.

  • @SmokeyMesa

The small form factor intrigues me, the promise of micro oled is on display but not fully realized here. Every design has tradeoffs, but I would live with a slightly heavier headset to have inside out tracking so I could ditch my light houses. Throw in an improved optics stack that improves the glare/sweet spot and you could have my next headset.

I see a lot of people saying this in comment threads and I totally understand why. But as someone who owns Crystal and Beyond, I can vouch that a weightless microOLED display sealed on to your face is really truly unlike anything else. Local dimming is cool, but it is not the same as OLED. A big sweet spot is nice, but the trade-off with Crystal is that the whole headset shimmys around when you move your head and need to constantly readjust the giant hammerhead toaster strapped to your forehead. In terms of immersion and spending hours in VR, I think anyone who owns both will keep coming back to Beyond. Still excited to try Crystal Light, though. Especially if the controller tracking has improved. Would be nice to finally sell my lighthouses

Hi! I can’t help but notice that you don’t seem to have any problem with using the VR mouse in the cockpit. My problem is that mine is really insensitive, I might hit the correct button. A three way switch is hopeless, a click on the “up” side might just as well be on the “down” side. Lastly operating the stacked rotaries on a Garmin is just a lottery. What’s your settings/advice on this?

  • @Leynad778
    @Leynad778 15 днів тому +4

Seems that BSB has a lot of RMA's for getting the IPD and face-gasket wrong. One guy said, he tried three different IPD-versions and is still not fully happy. They should've integrated an IPD-adjuster even if it adds a few grams and make the gasket an optional purchase. This way people also wouldn't hesitate because of the lower resell-value. I personally don't want sealing rubber on my face and need my nose-gap even the Quest 3 has a passthrough, also to catch some air with my wind-sim.

    • @chriskross1660

@@chriskross1660 I ordered new glasses yesterday and the measured IPD was 69 (not symmetric), but with several VR headsets I prefer 72 and when I measure it with Incy Beauty, it's always 71 or higher. IMO it seems, selling headsets with a fixed IPD and tiny sweetspot is just not a good idea. IPD adjusters could be done by adding a few gramm and millimetres to the device.

I've had my Beyond for 5 months and absolutely love it! It fits perfectly, doesn't move around on my face like heavier headsets do in room scale or with my motion system in Rally games. Mine is a perfect fit with zero light leakage, excellent comfort, and a huge upgrade from my Varjo Aero. Glare is a very personal thing and also does depend on the titles you play. I can see glare in setup screens and in a few rare places, but don't notice it at all the vast majority of the time. I've owned 5 VR headsets and the Bigscreen Beyond is in a completely different category from anything I've ever owned. There is no perfect headset for everyone, and for some this may not be a good fit, but for me this is the closest to a perfect headset that is available or announced at this time.

When sitting in my rig I use a Link cable with 700 MBit transfer, the sweetspot between quality and latency. Looks like DP to me with a latency lower than every triplescreen-setup I saw on UA-cam. And standalone is just awesome without the 500+ watt heater running. Games like Beat Saber look like PCVR from the sharpness and the tracking is as good as Lightening, people saying that are doing Beat Saber on Expert+.

Some mention the issues but greatly diminish them. Not sure how anyone could think this headset is good or worth the price.

6 months - 1 year later you finally start hearing the truth. Small sweet spot, horrible glare, not bright enough. All the people who ordered probably listened to all these youtubers drool over this headset and now that real people are saying the glare is bad and the lenses suck, here comes the youtubers to finally tell the truth.

@@VRFlightSimGuy thats why I watch your channel. I'm not really into flight sims unless you count VTOL, but I think you do a great job providing us with information to make the right choices. Some of these other channels though, its all sunshine and rainbows with ever headset and every game that comes out.

What scenarios are you getting glare with the Quest 3? I’m just getting back into PCVR and have started using the Quest 3 for that. I can do some test scenarios.. The Q2 definitely had glare, but I haven’t really seen it with Q3.
