    I use one. Great reel. Can’t beat the value with the extra spools kit

      I agree!!! I have worked that thing so hard! I just got another one because I was getting to lazy to change spools!

    Hello,
    What size (wt) is the set up you are using on the Snook? Thank you for the video!

      I just upgraded to an 8wt tfo mangrove rod and a lamson reel with 9wt rio flats pro line. I have a floating and a clear sinking tip. The sinking is an 8wt. I like loading the rod faster so I don’t need to false cast. I use lighter flies most of the time and usually never bigger than a #2 hook and catch slot snook. I find they are more active at the best part of incoming tide and I like to get the fly down to them so I favor the clear sinking tip. And truthfully up until two months ago I was using a cheap piscifun 8 wt rod and I did great! It is surprisingly ok…. It is a good starter rod that won’t break the bank. But if you have the cash and want a rod that has a warranty and is made in Florida look into tfo. Thank you for watching! Let me know what you end up going with!

      Thank you for the quick reply to an older post! I went ahead and ordered the Lamson Liquid 5+ 3-pack for use with a 6wt rod (leaning towards the Redington Crosswater for starters). Will be fishing small streams here in the far west mountains of NC and some small time inshore saltwater on FL visits.
      Small skiff and kayak fishing will keep me with spinning gear for most of my saltwater time for practical and space reasons.
      Thank you so much again!! Really enjoyed your videos and demeanor! Keep up the good work! Will definitely look at TFO if/when I am ready for the next level of saltwater on fly.

      @knotpc5754 Redington makes a good rod I think you will be happy. The 5+ will be great. There is a lot of applications for saltwater with a 5wt. Sea trout are a blast, flounder, snappers… and realistically if the wind isn’t bad you can cast to snooks and reds and be fine! I feel like the only reason I like a bigger rod and line is to combat the wind. Fly fishing is nice because as long as you can get the fly out there and they aren’t going to break you off you can use whatever you have!

    I wanted to ask. For the snook beach fishing. Sinking line or intermediate line ? Thank you 🙏

      @DesOnTheFly  Рік тому

      Oh!!! Intermediate to sinking. I find that snook are more active the more the current is ripping, and getting down faster helps with my hook up ratio. I try to end up right in front of their faces.

      I have a lot actually…. Not on purpose but I’m clumsy. I haven’t had a problem in 3 years or so now. I’m really impressed because I went through a few Amazon specials before that. What are you using now? It’s a great starter reel.
