I’m a big fan of your MUM loudspeaker project. Regarding the Klippel scanner not only the investment in the equipment but also TIME (and probably additional costs) for training to acquire the necessary know how needs to considered . I believe the use of equipment, interpretation of measurement results and proper conclusions for further development cannot be learned over night. I don’t know if you already contacted Karl-Heinz Fink (Company: Fink Team). As Karl-Heinz mentioned in an interview, his company has multiple Klippel systems and long history of expertise in loudspeaker development. Wish you the very best for all your MUM related efforts.
I was never sold on big monitors from all the stuff I read online about your room and this and that. I got a set of 10” studios and I’m now 100% on board with big ass speaker. The range you hear at super low volumes is breathtaking. I almost drove a few hours to check out the mum8s at a place in upstate New York but a deal came up for something else so sry fellas. Excited to see where these bad boys end up.
Very interesting livestream! I guess it all depends on how audible that dip is once you get into different rooms, and how much it will invite a mixing engineer to push up those frequencies too high. If the dip is not really audible, spending 100K+ on it might not be the best way to go? I'm wondering how most speaker manufacturers go about this, because most of their anechoic chambers are not flat all the way down to 20Hz either?
Nice livestream guys. sorry i could not been there on the stream itself, but i'm watching it now. Nice work on the 10's i would say. :) Cheers grom Johan (Belgium)
The Reaper DAW very likely is used by more people than Cubase or Studio One and FL Studio potentially has the biggest user base in the world according to some guy living on a music forum situated somewhere inside my head 😜 I'm not sure either has Atmos support
There will be haters and as you say they are all just Wa.kers :) I have never heard your speakers but one thing I know is that you have been using top line monitors for years and should know what sounds good or crap. I look forward to checking out your monitors at some point this year :) Keep believing and your dream of building the best monitor in the world will become reality ... From what i have seen you well on your way :)
@@PresentDayProduction It's just a matter of studio sizes that the requirement comes from and still wanting the 3-way benefits... as, we need perfect monitoring before anything to have a studio worth enough... it is the key to our own ability, as you guys saw yourself... seeing how someone got a lot better when using the ATC's... it's the most important buy for a studio... anything less is like trying to win a F1 race with a ford escort... currently would like to see a dual 6 with a mid and tweeter to have a horizontal speaker for a Atmos setup I have in mind to accompany it... but, that is specific to that setup and that setup idea can change... so just the normal one is fine... my idea is A44H's for my left right and centre above them and A4V's for the rest.... my thinking due to money is the Atmos setup is only there for placement and objects will be processed previously before the Atmos on the MUM's... and a normal 6 3-way can sit next to a Pair of A7V's and the A44H as the centre channel and A4V's for all the rest... I'm thinking a A7V in comparison is not much bigger than the A4V and so will make sense in translation as home Atmos setups will always have tower speakers for the left and right and normal speakers for all the rest.. plus Sonarworks and eventually Trinnow will sort the differences in vol anyway.. I hope lol... but then can use the A7V as a second speaker for checking before the martial meets Atmos... will use a trinnov for the MUM's... as it would be a misjustice not to if I am making the decision to make sure my monitoring is perfect... my Atmos system can me subpar for now anyway while I get my head around Atmos, but it does seem it is more about placement than mixing so it should be pretty fine for a while.. love what you guys have done, it is what I would have myself in the same position and just incredible for you guys to go through all the hard work to actually make it a product for others.. . and to the point you can not afford them yourself yet... at least for James anyway... it is a testimony to the dedication
I guess the big question is adda conversion. Will it simply get less expensive to produce at high quality thus being viable to put in a MUM. Or will adda conversion constantly improve and the highest quality will fetch the highest dollar. Personally I’d rather a monitor without conversion at any price.
Nice discussion guys I had some comments 1) I think you're wasting your time working on a Mum 10. You're getting feedback that the 8s dont require a sub. I'd just use the 10" driver to make a proper sub. If you need more SPL from the system I think you're just going to cause issues having multiple bass drivers and you would be better off having a sub to take the effort off the main bass driver of the super low frequencies. 2) Klippel seems like an excellent idea, you're still not going to please the measurement crowd though regardless of what you do. How about crowdfunding it and then investors can make a percentage return on any work that comes in?
Are people NOT buying your speakers because you don’t have measurements? If your speakers work and sound awesome, who cares how they show up on a graph? I have never bought audio equipment on the basis of its data sheet.
I mean unlike the typical numbers on a spec sheet that do not mean shit, if you know how to read this data it is a very good way to judge a speaker but it doesn't replace a listening session. witholding this information is something i usually see as suspect there is no trade secret interest in showing the on axis and polars. Please note i mean this in a general and not directed at PDP in any way
Let Erin’s Audio Corner do a review on the MUM’s he has excellent measuring equipment and a very good reputation. I would be very interested to hear what he thinks, he’s a very good knowledgeable reviewer imo 😊
vote to call the highest end one the ‘optiMUM’

Your enthusiasm is incredible! Well done guys.

Additional modulars could be a range of their own . The " Step Mum '. ( Step as in upgrade )
Any chance of MUM 1's? Want some pocket speakers...
I still really want to see a 6 3-way, or even a dual 6 3-way.
A lot of people have been asking for a 6 3-way, and we’re working on it!

where do I find that mash-up ? 👏👏👏🙏❤
Here is the challenge for you on the MUM-10.
TRANSMISSION LINE !!!!

All our MUM monitors already offer digital inputs, and the only conversion is the final point from the amp to the physical drivers!
As an aussie i agree. The Dollar has been severely wounded in recent times.
I hope you guys are able to swing a Klippel! If not, I would encourage you to at least send a MUM to Erin. Great guy who knows his stuff!😃👍
While doing other things rewatching, I studently realised I heard the word "clipple" over and over again... and it was odd 😅
At least it wasn’t the word “nipple”…
@@PresentDayProduction Well... that's why it was odd... had to check you was actually saying that and it was not me having a Floridian slip 😂
I'd still want a full range single point source.
Nice About the remix/atmos :)
can you guys please design a matching sub before doing another mum?
We’re working on subs already - always a few things cooking at once to ensure we’re being efficient!
How About a Sub Woofer or Sub Woofers ?
For anything from Stereo, to 9.4.6 Dolby Atmos ?
We are designing subs currently! :)
Ultra-high-end monitor: 5 way with the 10” as the deep bass, the 8” as mid bass and the 6” as the lower mid … The ultimate transient response design.
Maybe dual opposed 10"s?
Nice discussion guys

Greater than the mum of its parts.
Are you going to make a MUM SUB. Because you've clearly already made some for your Atmos room. And how much will MUM 10's cost.
Shame on UA-cam for not telling me
MUM 12? for us bass heads. I am already saving up :)
Can you put some cardioid magic in you mum 10+ ? that would be la crème de la crème.
I second that!
Hello from us in Spain
Hello!!!!
Also send your speakers to Amir from audio science review I love his reviews
Make both options... Mum 10 and Mum 10+ :))
Why not speak to ATC / KEF / B&W etc about a joint venture to buy the Klippel? You could take it in turns to use it.
I'm pretty sure ATC already has one.
p.s. You are on the right path.
Are people NOT buying your speakers because you don’t have measurements? If your speakers work and sound awesome, who cares how they show up on a graph? I have never bought audio equipment on the basis of its data sheet.
Yep, you’d be surprised! 90% of customers don’t care and just read feedback from customers and reviews. But some people demand measurements first
I mean unlike the typical numbers on a spec sheet that do not mean shit, if you know how to read this data it is a very good way to judge a speaker but it doesn't replace a listening session. witholding this information is something i usually see as suspect there is no trade secret interest in showing the on axis and polars.
