    • @michaelwalshe4938

      If you're so fat it's unhealthy then you shouldn't be fine with your body. But if you're a chubby girl who doesn't have health problems you do your thing, girl.
      But fat shaming still isn't a good thing, if someone is so fat it's unhealthy you should tell them to lose weight in a nice caring way.

    • @bobshanty455
      @bobshanty455 9 років тому +14

      There is nothing wrong with fat shaming. In countries where there is free health care which is paid for by taxpayers there is a problem with obese and morbidly obese people. You see, people are practically eating away your money by getting fat and then needing to undergo expensive operations/medical procedures. This same money could easily have gone to cancer research or other major medical issues but instead it's going towards helping a fat person who could have just not snacked between meals or just excersised.

    Victoria Secret is HORRIBLE at bra fitting. I went in there saying "I wear a 38DD right now and it's way too small." They measure me, tell me I'm a 36D. I could barely hide my nipples in the bra they gave me. I ask them then, "How am I a D when I'm massively muffin topping out of a DD?" The lady then tells me my bra size is too large and Victoria Secret does not carry it. I currently am wearing a 38DDD but these bras are old and stretched out. I fall out the top and bottom of them x.x. But I can't afford to drop $40 - $60 a bra. AND WHY DOES NO ONE IN THE WORLD MAKE CUTE BRAS FOR ANYONE LARGER THAN A D? You're above a D and suddenly you must be a 65 year old woman who has given up on life and also breastfed 6 children.

    • @sparkybish
      @sparkybish 9 років тому +9

      Sayonara DOTexe Sizing takes into account a few things. The number is the band size, and should be a good approximate fit, based on measurement. The letter is the cup size and is determined by how many inches larger your over breast measurement is than your band measurement. However, not all breasts and cups are made equal, so YMMV. HTH.

    HOW TO SIZE A BRA FROM A COSTUME DESIGNER
    Measure under your bust in inches (this is the number part)
    Measure around the largest part of your breasts (this number will be bigger than the under bust first number). Subtract the small from the bigger number. (you now have a low number, usually single digit.) For every inch difference, you get a cup size (a letter).
    Example
    Underbust: 36
    Bust: 40
    40-36=4
    Bra size: 36D
    Sister sizes:
    If your bra measurement is something super odd sounding like 30DDD, you can use sister sizes. If you make the band measurement (the number) one size bigger, then move down one letter size. For 30DDD try a 32DD.
    I hope this helped!!!

    • @evergreen_juno
      @evergreen_juno 9 років тому +14

      This is how they do it at Torrid, where I work, and every women I've sized has loved and bought the bra I've suggested

    • @SapphireX413
      @SapphireX413 8 років тому +37

      If they come up with some weird size like 30DDD, THAT IS THEIR SIZE! Instead of encouraging them to buy a sister size, why not direct them to a store that actually carries their size. I've seen women wearing a size 26J.

    • @StormCalysta
      @StormCalysta 8 років тому +11

      +Beckah Mataronas seriously, I'm a 30D & the sister size never fits me right. Too small in the cups, too big of a band & straps.

    • @erin2819
      @erin2819 8 років тому +4

      maybe im doing this wrong but thatd make me a DD and im a 32a

    • @SapphireX413
      @SapphireX413 8 років тому +10

      erennnnnnn The way you want to measure accurately is measure just under your breasts, where the tissue would fold if you pushed down. Then measure across the biggest part of your breasts. If you are a 32A, your underbust measurement is 32inches and your bust measurement is 33inches. All you have to do to find your cup size is subtract your underbust from your bust measurement. 33-32=1. 1=A cup 2=B 3=C 4=D 5=DD and so on. I measure a 30 underbust and 39.5 over. 39.5-30=9.5 so I wear a 30H or a 30I depending on the brand. My boobs don't look nearly as huge as you think because my band size is small.

Victoria's Secret is ALWAYS WRONG, and the bras they give me that should fit according to their sizing are insanely uncomfortable. You'd think they would train their employees a bit better in that rather vital area, as I come in willing to buy a bra but always end up getting them at Nordstrom.

    I used to work at Lane Bryant and when they trained me they said that we should measure you in your current bra and use that as a jumping off point for picking sizes. Sizing isn't a science so a lot of it is guess work. So if you measure as a 40D, I'd bring you a 38D, 40D, and 42D to try on and see which feels most comfortable. The bra should fit snugly (but not tight) when on the first clasp so you can tighten as it stretches over time. The shape of the bra matters, too. You might end up going a cup size down in a full coverage bra or up in a demi or push up. I'm usually a 38D regardless of brand but I still always bring a size up and a size down into the dressing room with me before I buy anything.

      It is, truly, none of my business, but I do wish men with 'moobs' would wear "flatteners" under their shirts, at least for "dress-up" or formal occasions. People are NOT under a public obligation to look good for other people - but it is nice when they do.
      BTW, there are companies which make undershirts for men which can do this (flatten their 'moobs' against their chests). I suppose that these would be uncomfortable on really hot days, but otherwise they would certainly help some men look better in a dress shirt.

      It's stressful for the person measuring too. I've had to measure woman who right off the bat you could tell we didn't carry their size because A the measuring tape wouldn't go all the way around and B their boobs looked bigger than a G cup. I've had women who even though the bra was comfortable, disagreed with the size cause they wanted to be a B instead of an A or a 36c instead of a 40c..At some point i had to leave that department at work cause i felt like any day now i would loose it and be like "You know what measure yourself". It's true though every brand is different , depends on the material, the padding, the style, and who their target audience is.

      I think they wanted a girl who had big boobs for the video. Because I think it's more difficult to find a bra that fits if you have bigger boobs. Also I'm not sure but i think people who are fat are usually more shy and may not want to get fitted for a bra by someone or try really big sizes in the store. So by showing her maybe buzzfeed is telling that big girls shouldn't worry about these things.

    I got measured at Victoria secret and she measured me over my clothes. She told me I was a 48 DDD she asked me what I was wearing now, and I said " 40 D ..." She went bugged eyed and didn't believe me. She then measured me without a shirt and apologized because my shirt added a few inches. I said " so why did you measure me with my shirt on in the first place? She admitted she had just been hired that month and wasn't sure what she was doing!

      Oh, well my experience at Victoria secret was like this
      The lady measured me and told me I was a" A" but I had been wear a 32C and that's what fit me best. But the lady kept saying "no, your either a 32A or 32B" so I decided to just get measured by someone else and the new lady agreed with me. 😫 so somethings going on.

      It was my first time being fitted, and my first time going to Victoria secret for a bra ( not just perfume and makeup lol) and I have been back since. That store really is for very thing women with A-C cups. They explained to me that anything above a 40D is not in the store and would have to be ordered online. I was shocked and said I never really come in for bras but I expected there to be nearly every size bra available. The manager, mind you was about the same size as me ( short chubby and heavy chested) " nothing comes to the stores bigger than a 40D. Maybe a few 40DD. I was very disappointed and gave up searching for my real size

      Shantelle Benfica I dont know if all VS stores do this, but some have a specific day where a bra fitter comes in. I went to get sized when they had a bra fitter in at my local store, and she KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING. Unlike 99 percent of the girls at VS. The lady measured me, and then gave me a box in that size, with 6 different bra types, and I tried them all on and picked out what bra fit me the most comfortable.
      I always recommend people go to VS when the bra fitter is in, instead of being fitted by a chick who works the floor and doesn't know what she's doing.

      Shantelle Benfica went to VS once the girl told me I was a B. tried that on (Knowing it was wrong) and rolled my eyes at her as I picked up a 32 D. sounds like none of those VS girls know what they're talking about.

    • @bobthathead3
      @bobthathead3 9 років тому +4

      Shantelle Benfica an employee at VS fitted me once and told me I was just a 38C.... she didn't even measure across my breasts, she measured my rib cage and above my chest near my armpits... what does that even do! I went about 6 months ago to a different store and the lady there actually got my REAL size which was a band size and four cup sizes bigger. And that size is usually universal among other stores too. I was just shocked that they keep people on staff who clearly have no idea what they're doing!

      Tell me about it. I'm usually a 32-34E depending on the particular bra and you have no idea how had it is to find small bandwidth and big cups under like £30. And when you do they're usually pretty similar to what my grandmother would by, not that anyone is going to see my bra, but I still think that a pretty bra is a major confidence boost.

    • @Vix_Vi
      @Vix_Vi 9 років тому +1

      Mills Obb Oh, I get you... I love pretty, sexy underwear, but sometimes it's choosing between looking good and feeling confident and being comfortable. I'm guilty of getting a bra that's a bit too small sometimes, because I like it's design so much. My boobs usually crush the wires which stab me until I get back home and take it off.
      I don't believe that there are so many As, Bs and Cs out there and so little Ds and Es. I get that super big bras can be hard to get, like H or something, but that's because you rarely see women with breasts in this size. I see women with breasts D, E and even F pretty often.
      I guess it's the same as with shoes. There are only small and medium sizes even though recently girls seem to have bigger feet than before, just because small shoes look prettier and cuter on the shelves.

    For a time when I was younger, I was wearing training bras. But when I got older, I went to a bra section on the second floor of a store (forget which store exactly). I asked the woman working there if she could fit me to get my correct size. Without measuring, she takes one look at me and says you're never going to fit in a bra, there's nothing there. Aaaand, that was the time when I both was publicly humiliated and decided not to wear bras. Later on, realizing that I don't need to wear a bra turned out to be an amazingly free feeling and I feel so sorry for women who do need to wear them because it's the most uncomfortable thing ever.

    Hey Kristin, I'm new to these videos but I can sympathize with you on the difficulty to find bras. I got really frustrated with the American sizing system and how they thought just adding a "D" to the end magically made the bra fit better. Three years ago I switched to the European system (it's really easy to size yourself tutorials online) and I've never looked back. They're so comfy I can wear an underwire all day and not have any red marks on my shoulders or ribs. I think every girl would benefit from this tip.

I usually just stick to the few bras I have, but a couple of weeks ago I decided I'd try get something new. I went to Ann Summers (UK). Tried on a DD which fit me alright. Tried on a G which was TOO SMALL. So in ONE SHOP they don't even stick to the same sizes. Being a girl is hard. My boyfriend was away on a trip last weekend and he wanted to be sweet and bring me back a nice bra, but unfortunately I didn't even know what size to tell him so no new bra for me. :( I wish I had tiny cute little boobs so that this was easier.

    40DD or 40D .. Victoria Secrets I am 34DD.. Bali 36DD Vanity Fair 36D. I was a bra specialist 10 years at Macys. If you have more side boob go to a full fit… the perfect full fit at VS is great. Full fit doesn’t mean large instead means the cup is wider and band under arms a little fuller. Also if you find a bra that fits great in the cup but tight in band then up band size and lower cup. 36D cup perfect but band tight then go to 38C. If 36D cup perfect but band loose go to 34DD . Every time you change band size it changes cup size. If band fits great on 38D but cup to big do 38C. If you adjust band size it changes cup size! A 32DDD =34DD =36D=38C=40B in cup size.. only band is different

    It can be so hard to find a professional, involved shop assistant. Especially for something as delicate as bar fitting.
    I've noticed a lot that these days that clothing businesses don't want big girl business. The most embarrassing thing isn't that I have to buy bigger sizes now (Australian 18-22 depending on the company) but that they're always a restricted range, right up the back of the store and the shop assistants never seem to know what they do or don't have in those sizes. The worst I'd experienced happened recently where a store with two entrances moved all girl 20+ clothing (which they have a separate name for) to the back entrance of the store right next to the super skinny female exercise clothing and diet bars. Literally you could not even get to the clothing without seeing size 6 & 8 workout outfits and weightloss bars. (sigh)

I went to one very high end lingerie store that advertised "we have trained specialists to FIT you!" The woman looked at me in the fitting room, wrapped a tape around my chest (bra on only), & said, "You're between a (blank) size & a (blank) size." The bras at this place started at $60 & went up from there, & she couldn't give me an accurate size. The only bras they sold were their own brand, none of which fit me very well.

    I totally agree. I once walked into a Victoria Secret with a friend of mine(in high school) and the woman came up to me and told me "I'm sorry but we don't have anything in your size." based only by looking at me. She may or may not have been right since I know the now Victoria Secret has Bra's in my size, but it's gonna cost me around $50+ to get one. The second time I went to one of their stores a woman asked me what size I was wear told me i was wrong measured me then told me my actual size. As soon as I had the bra on I knew she was right. Some employs have no clue what they are doing and some do, keep that in mind.

    It is 100% true that there is no common bra size since sizes vary so much between stores. At Victoria's Secret, I'm a 34DD but for one of my favorite underwear companies called xhiliration, I'm a 36D but both bras fit me absolutely perfectly and are comfortable. I even own a well-fitting 36C from Target because that companies' sizes probably run larger. I tend to stick with buying bras from VS though because most other stores don't have DDs or Ds that are as pretty where VS has the same designs in every bra size like it should be.

      ***** Actually yeah it does. Nordstrom bras aren't exactly "different" than normal bras but thy do tend to carry more European brands. European bra sizing is a tad bit different than American sizing (and a HELL of a lot more universalized) so in a way they're kinda right

    • @Zonore

      Nordstrom is awesome. Other places told me I was a 34DDD. But I felt like I was dying in them. They ended up sizing me with a 36HH, and the bras lasted 4 years. The straps were pretty thick, but it made the stay fit for longer. Also, they were like belts. You could tighten the straps infinitely. 10/10.

      I wear a bra when I want to and sometimes when I go out to certain places. I have big boobs so sometimes I will wear one when it starts to hurt, usually if I am doing a lot of walking, running, and exercise sort of deal. If I am also trying to dress nicely I will wear a bra because 'stylish clothes' because having my boobs more held up looks better and you can sometimes see my boobs or nips in certain clothing. Then it is mainly a 'I want to look nice" sort of deal.
      When I am at home or going to the grocery store I usually skip the bras because it feels more comfortable. I cannot sleep in a bra so I never wear one to sleep. It just depends.
      I am one who is mad that bras are somewhat a society forced thing and not wearing one in public is taboo. When I was very sore and ill I had to continue going to school and wearing a bra was extremely painful and made me feel worse but I had to.

  • @bk4644
    @bk4644 9 років тому +2

    The way you measure what cup size you are is different for every brand or store. I know that sometimes you measure the plumpest point of your chest and then you measure around where your bra straps end at the top of the actual padding. But most times, you DO measure the plumpest point as well as measuring UNDER the actual bust area to get your exact cup size.

    I know the number's 10, but I still don't know whether I'm a C or a D. It's really depending on the bra what fits better. But my mum has a habit of buying cheap bras, these are always 10D, since this is what I usually get. But most of the time they're too big, but when I go with her to buy them, the C's are too small. It's really confusing, and no asking someone at the store has never helped me, my mum's experience with bras has always worked out better. My mum over estimates sometimes, but if the person working there hasn't done it too, they've underestimated by a lot. It could be a lot worse though, while I'm certainly not flat chested, they're at a size where there's plenty of options no matter what store I'm in (though it'd be better if I was an A or B, or a more solid C, since they have an insane mount of abundance everywhere).
    Busty women do have terrible trouble with bra shopping. I've never met one who has ever walked in, brought a bra, and left happy. If they've found their size at all, it was likely over $100. The deals in stores focuses on smaller sizes which sometimes I can take advantage of, but mostly not, since it is the really small sizes that get those god damn sales. While I'm practically a D, it's completely true that I have around the smallest boobs out of the people I know. So I really don't understand those sales.
    In regards to shitty help by the people working there, my friend's mother has gigantic boobs, and she probably has the best example of it happening that I've heard. All I've gone though is people not knowing whether I'm a 10C or a 10D, ditto with my sister, and with my mother it's the same story except with much larger sizes. But this women walked in to a store to find a new bra, and when she had difficulties asked for some assistance. They told her she was a C cup. That's how small mine are, I don't think this women has looked down and seen her feet in 20 years, they're huge, she's not a C. Even so, being polite she tried on the bra they gave her. It literally only fit one breast, screw being too tight, it didn't even cover the both of them. So she went out and showed them, before picking up a bra five sizes larger, put it on, found it to be a perfect fit and showed them how a bra is supposed to look on someone. She then brought that one and left. I don't think she's going to return to that store anytime soon.

    I went to Victoria secret to get a new bra (cause that's where I've been going since I bumped up to a D). Well Victoria secret runs small and I was trying on my old bra sizes (far too small) and the fitter basically sold me a bra that I hated but I was feeling really down and embarrassed cause I had just tried on like seven bras so I didn't want to ask for a new size so I bought the bra that gave me four boobs. I returned that later and decided I would never buy a bra from Victoria secret again because they don't fit me and the bra "experts" are too pushy. I went to a boutique instead where they range from 28A-40K so they were bound to have my size. The lady asked my current bra size (34DD) and immediately said by looking at me that was too small. Measured me with tape and told me my new size (34DDD). The Victoria secret bra was $63 and made me feel horrible. This bra was $40 and made me feel sexy because a) it fit and b) it was pretty and lacy (practically impossible to find for a big bra)
